I guess it depends on what you want to use as your main damage dealer. Sci abilities or the torps? You can do both, but the question becomes, will it work as well as focusing on one or the other? I can't really add to what the others have said, other than maybe change your ship. If you don't have a tac vesta, then stick…
Yeah, there are some people who know kinetic builds. Wardcalis and Odenknight are the two people you want. However, I'll give what I know (which mostly came from the aforementioned players). First, in the current setup, kinetic builds need to be extremely focused and are generally expensive. As to your questions: 1. I'm…
Ok, so here is a photon build I ran not long ago. It's an alright build. http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=mohawk_5311 Here is the quantum build I'm currently running. This came out of some suggestions from wardcalis. I've only flown it a couple of times, but it hits a lot harder than the photon…
Potsy, you hit the nail on the head as far as some torpedoes being awesome and some being useless. Karlbarb, the Neutronic torpedo from the Delta rep is boosted by quantum tac consoles. As far as torpedo builds, and the photon vs quantum debate specifically, your build/traits/skills/specializations need to be focused on…
Don't hurt yourself. It's only a game. I can wait. I drew this up based on your build. It's based on what I have available or can acquire quickly. http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=spartanquantum_5311
Sure, for T6 I've got access to the Arbiter, Manticore, Mercury, Nandi, Presidio, and Phantom. T5U is Monbosh, S'gloth, and tac Vesta. What should I be looking for in regards to Boff layout?\ I do tend to run high aux for my AMP fleet core, science abilities, and the offensive Nukara Aux rep trait. Thanks!
Thanks Ward. Yeah, I know transphasics are mediocre, but it's kind of neat to see that 40% bleedthrough on the hull. Question for you Ward, I'm thinking of switching by build type Quantum/AP instead of my normal Photon/Disruptors. Do you think the damage gain would be enough to warrant the change in equipment? Here are the…
Hi Payton, Sorry for the delay. It took me a while to come up with something I liked that met your general requirements. The ship: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=nandiap_5311 Please note, the skill tree, specialization, and traits screen are all filled out. I would recommend that you use three…
What is the focus of your build? Is it the AP arrays, or the Gravity Well/Tyken's Rift? Generally, you pick one thing that you want your build to be good at and everything in your build works to make that focus better. Also, the Nimbus Pirate Distress Call just needs to be in your inventory to use. You don't have to slot…
As a developer myself, not affiliated with Cryptic, I want to thank you for your thanks. 99% of the time, we never see the thanks, only complaints about problems and sometimes suggestions for a solution. My hat is off to you, sir.
As far as the T'varo goes, I've the T5 one and I really like it. I'm not a huge Sci expert, so take what this with a grain of salt. I believe the plasma DoT is affected by partgens. I know the Romulan and Reman reflectors give a pretty significant increase to partgens (among other things). The Romulan space set…
Like ward said, the amaco two piece set is very powerful if you're using a torpedo heavy load out. Other than that, you've got the useful set already. However, it's always up to you what you want to do. Have fun!
I ended up compromising. I realized that I just needed the two-piece CC set to get the disruptor bonus. So I slotted the Experimental Proton Weapon instead of the heavy bio disruptor turret, and exchanged the CC tac console for the fleet photon tac console, vulnerability locator. I've noticed that it crits more often and…
I like the bio proc, and I'm not totally sure what the protonic proc actually is (haven't played it in quite a while). I'm wondering whether the 10% increase to CritD and CritH is worth the loss of the bio proc.
Exactly. For me, that is the draw of the torp boat. It requires careful planning and execution. Anyone can FAW, but it takes a pilot/strategist to fly a torp boat. To me, that is the point. YMMV.
Nice vid! Thanks ward! I got Kemocite-laced weapony II yesterday and was extremely impressed by it. TS III + KLW II on either an enhanced bio photon or a gravimetric photon that is already got its base damage boosted will at the very least soften up the bigger targets or outright destroy smaller ones on the first pass.…
You're right noroblad, torps are slow. They require a certain finess in order to make them effective. This is what draws me to them. A high number of torpedoes in your loadout forces you to fly differently than you would if your primary weapons are cannons or beams. I flew an all turret build once, it actually wasn't as…
Thanks warmaker! Yeah, I'm currently running the enhanced bio torp and it really puts a hurt on the target for a photon. I may try experimenting with the bio disruptors.
So the Bio-molecular stuff is still the better choice at the moment? I'm trying to plan an endgame build and trying to determine what to put on it. Thanks!
I was being slightly sarcastic, but yeah, I've flown a plasma build on another toon, I very much understand what you're talking about. Transphasics aren't bad. Not real high on the dps scale though. However, it is fun to watch your target's hull degrade while their shields remain relatively unaffected. I did not know about…
I've already implemented some of the Ward's changes. I don't have some of the equipment, but I might be able to get some of it later. Still trying to get used to flying that ship again. That's why I'm trying to avoid plasma torpedoes. Lol. On the other hand, that might be a good teacher...
Thanks, I'll give it a try. I haven't upgraded anything because I just recently started again and DR hadn't been released yet when I stopped. I'll make a note of it.
Thanks for the offer. I'm pretty please with my current build at the moment. It's a combination of shield pen and shield slam. Took a while to craft the design and combination. That being said, I'm always open to suggestions. Here it is:…
Thanks for the info guys. Ward, my current build uses bio and gravitic photons. It's actually not too shabby, but you're right torp boats tend to be expensive.
