Torp boats

There are so many people out there that don't seem to get torps. They don't understand what torps are capable of. This is a quick video I made to showcase my current build. This is a build that I threw together. It isn't optimized yet and there are things i'm gonna be changing soon. But I wanted to throw it out there so you can all see just what torps can do. This is done on advanced difficulty so keep that in mind.

Good video! Thank you for sharing! Torpedo boats may not be as powerful as all-out beam boats, but they can definitely hold their own, and are amazingly fun and challenging to fly!

I have a question which you may or may not be able to answer a the moment...

Does the Microprojectile Barrage Launcher and Stay on Target proc Kinetic Sheering?

    Nice vid! Thanks ward!

I got Kemocite-laced weapony II yesterday and was extremely impressed by it. TS III + KLW II on either an enhanced bio photon or a gravimetric photon that is already got its base damage boosted will at the very least soften up the bigger targets or outright destroy smaller ones on the first pass. Love it!

Been working on a plasma type build...not a pure torp as its a narcine, but with my midrange gear it seems to be potent.

From what I can recall off the top of my head http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=carriertorp_0

It would be awesome to get an all torp boat run together. :) With KCLW and DRB, it'll be an amazing light show. :D

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

So seeking some piloting advice. I am doing fine running in groups of 10-30k players, but when I start getting grouped with 40k+ people, things die before my torps land.

So I'm thinking, in groups such as this, is it better to ignore the transformers and go straight for the Nanite Spheres? They are more than capable of taking down the transformer anyway. Are there other targets I can skip in high DPS groups?

    Thanks!

Really, it should be THEM who are considering that - as a kinetic powerhouse, your weapons are best trained on shieldless targets so a reasonable energy user should consider heading towards the nanites and letting your ship do what its best at doing while they whittle down the shields so you can really help with a few spreads after (that said if you pack a grav well, grav torps and ap torp, you might as well go slap some nanite spheres about as good luck getting pugs to do that :) )

Its also why when flying torp-only I prioritise the gateway as my main target - no shields means my ships damage is at maximum output, which means I'm doing more to help than flinging shots at shielded spheres (although I won't lie, focussing on shieldless targets will make your dps appear to go up - enough that my lil' mk xi geared torpboat got into the 10k club)

Oh, I dunno. 30% or greater chance to critically hit using abilities that don't miss?

You'd have to actively WORK at it to make it suck. Like, point your ship in the opposite direction from the enemy level of working at it. That's how hard it would be.

    Peace and happy torpedoing.

I like those thread about torpedo boat. I have a couple toons (both science) using torp boat. Here is a link to my T'Varo built so far, http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=emc2tvaropve_3842 . I haven't taken the time to do parse it in ISA with that built but I did crack 20k a couple time with fleet team on a previous iteration without particle emission torp and vaadwaur cluster torp.

I went torp boat for my science toon mainly to maximize aux, shield and engine power, but found them to be more satisfying to fly and more rewarding than just put everything on autofire and activate faw every time its available. You need timing and better flying skills than just fawing away, I know a have a few faw boat on other toons. There is nothing better than vaporize a wave of enemy on an ambush attack with nothing else than torps and a grav well ;) .

    Great thread :D

Anyone tried an oldskool transphasic build since the preserver set has been released? With the RandD trait and preserved console adding a lot of shield pen it may be worth it again.

I took my old t5 tvaro out the dry docks and with two rapid reloads and the preserver torp it seems to work well. I'm also running 4 piece breen set (I would go 2 and 2 with adapted maco but I don't have that on my ROM).

Like I say it's a t5 ship but first impressions are good but I'm reluctant to upgrade it as I have a feeling a t6 tvaro will be released soon.

Anyone tried in the Intel ship?
