Rebuilding My T'varo

Truly love my T5 Fleet T'varo, capable enough for NWS farming (pre-DR) and just generally fun to fly, and sticking to the same build basically unchanged since I first set it up back when LoR was the latest thing and a load of Mk11 Caustic Plasma DHCs with a Romulan Hyper-Plasma torp was a solid loadout.

Sadly stuff changes, and what used to be a ship to be proud of keeps ending up watching from the sidelines while P2W tac boats roadkill everything, so needing to make some updates. Mostly know what I want to do, still going with DHCs, gravity well, and torp spreads (I've never liked the FAWscort thing), but in a couple of places I can't decide between A and B and was curious what other players might think and why.

Link: RRW Xelloss

Yes its the 5U version rather than the upcoming T6, because while I'm willing to pay incremental prices for incremental improvements (like upgrade tokens), when it come to T6 re-releases I start ranting, so sticking to my platform.

The gear thats listed is what I've already picked up and bound to character (except the Iconian shield, not there yet but it is a perfect fit), but its the blank spots where I'm going "Hmmmmmm."

Tac Cmdr: On one hand APO3 gives me more direct damage, the CD time lines up with Gravity Well, and it gets me out of a number of holds that PH does not. On the other hand APB3 would give me a team buff and something I could use more frequently. Or even upgrade the CSV to 3, then just roll with APB1 or a second CSV copy. And though I know I could fit a KLW1 in the extra ensign slot that'd synch nicely with me, but when I looked today it was nearly 60 million and to me thats just crazy talk.

Sci Consoles: With the particle torp and grav well I do a fair amount of Exotic damage so looking in that general direction. A Particle Exciter would give me more weapons energy (which I know I'm a bit short of) and shields, but the UR version with a second [prtg] costs more than I'm willing to spend so I'd probably just go [grav] if I did pick one up. Embassy plasma consoles give the same amount of partigens, plus add plasma bursts and threat reduction, but lack an Exciter's extras. I do have the Valdore's shield-heal console, but I'm thinking with all the escapes and heals this ship already has I'm not sure how much real use that console would ultimately be. The Constriction Anchor, in another build I've actually found the Anchor itself not really amazing, but the bonus to exotic damage is nice (though not sure how it stacks compared to another partigen console). And there's always the classic Assimilated Module, not boosting the exotic damage directly but more grav gens and critD. So 5 possibilities and I can think of good reasons for all of them, but I only have 2 slots. And yes the logical thing to do would probably be drop the T'varo set and the Aceton Assimilator, but I love the many uses of the AA on a ship with EBC, and the T'varo set is just fun to use.

Tac Consoles: The normal rule is, duh, stack Locators. Except I'm a Romulan so my crit rate is already over 20% just sitting there, plus given I'll likely end up with partigens around 200 plus particle manipulator, there's something to be said for Exploiters. Additionally the fleet I'm in isn't quite at T3 for our spire yet (close, but not yet), so I'd have to wait a bit anyways to pick up Locators.

Space Rep Traits: Used to be easy. +CrtH, +CrtD, Nukara Offense, Omega Kinetic Shearing. The Iconian rep throws a kink in that with the radiation+buff-stripper and the +exotic traits. This character doesn't have her Iconian rep yet (waiting for my main to finish up sponsorship) so can't test in comparison but curious what results others have found.

The Devil is really in the details. Anybody got any insightful thoughts?

Does a torp boat even work in PVE?

Odenknight and myself are working on a very in depth guide for torps and once it is done we'll be plastering it all over everything we can, you won't be able to miss it. But, it's still a couple months from being done.

    I'm eagerly awaiting the guide.

While I appreciate the feedback, I know what I want to build. Tried a torp boat before, (Reman Tac Faeht), was too finnicky for me and the mismatched weapons made me feel like I was flying a rainbow boat. This is my Romulan sci, so going for a sci-scort.

As far as the T'varo goes, I've the T5 one and I really like it. I'm not a huge Sci expert, so take what this with a grain of salt. I believe the plasma DoT is affected by partgens. I know the Romulan and Reman reflectors give a pretty significant increase to partgens (among other things). The Romulan space set (engine/deflector?) is supposed to increase plasma damage and you get partgens from the deflector and an increase to your attack pattern skill from the engine. I'm not as familiar with the plasmatic bio-matter weapons, but I know the increase in partgens would greatly help the PEPT. If you went with the Romulan 2-piece set, the APO3 would get a good boost from the engine. I can't answer your Embassy console question, sorry...
