I thought back in the day that the one thing that could have made the temporal war nonsense worthwhile would have been to tie it to the Eugenics War. Reconcile the idea that Star Trek is supposedly set in the future with the fact that the Eugenics War never happened. I suppose it's not too late for STO to go that route.
Sometimes I kinda understand why the rest of the world hates gamers. Maybe take some responsibility for your money and not buy the thing that you don't want?
Yeah, any data that showed non Federation factions would be as popular as the Federation was just plain wrong. Anyone who played one of the Starfleet Command or Armada games back in the day would know that. Hardcore fans might like the Klingons, Romulans, and Borg, but normal people? Forget it. Not that I don't like…
The biggest movie of last year was practically a line for line remake of a movie made years before most of the audience was born. Kids these days are big on retro, apparently.
Well, I was interested in this expansion. They are clear on the fact that Enterprise very nearly killed the Star Trek franchise, right? The continued references to it don't strike me as the smartest business move.
Have fun to all those participating, but five characters is more than enough. Particularly when they've made leveling to 60 such a pain in the TRIBBLE.
Trying to mimic WoW's Horde/Alliance rivalry was a mistake from the start. Unlike WoW and Star Wars, the source material just doesn't support it. Starfleet is in every episode. Klingons and Romulans are in only a few dozen.
Sorry if I'm repeating anyone, but I'm not reading 40-something pages. A complaint I haven't seen before I skipped ahead: Harry Kim? I actually had to look him up on Memory Alpha because he was so forgettable. Admittedly, Voyager wasn't exactly overflowing with memorable or compelling characters, but just about any cast…
A few random comments. A fourth faction, if there is one, pretty much has to be a race with some name recognition by both casual and hardcore fans alike. Aliens of the week, like the Voth or Krenim are fine for NPC factions but not for a player faction. If a future faction is the Cardassians, they should not be merged with…
What explanation do you think is necessary? The scientists were basically outcasts. The ones in power were pretty much the Space Taliban. Exactly the types the Federation wouldn't get along with.
Would be nice if more Star Trek fans had the guts to just say "I don't like it" rather than invoking Roddenberry. Is your own opinion of so little value that it has to be backed up by someone better? Roddenberry was responsible for some the dumber ideas uttered in Star Trek. The stereotype of Star Trek fans as sexually…
What the teaser is meant to tease is fairly obvious. Don't really see how there can be much debate on that point. Could be that Cryptic will weasel their way out of it in one of the many ways suggested, but playable Romulans is exactly what they want us to think, so it shouldn't be a surprise that that's what many people…
Not gonna read the whole thread, so sorry if it's been mentioned but in the OP's link it now has a count down ending on March 21st at 2pm gmt. I suppose that's when they'll confirm the Romulan faction or admit to having trolled the fanbase. Either that or they're just really excited for the official start of spring.
