I find it ridiculous for a gaming Company to make you pay everything again for the same game to be on the console. You end up paying from 5$ (minimum) up to 300$ (maximum) for content... and for you to purchase things that you are satisfied with in STO.
For example, I can already imagine a player spent around 500$ to 1000$ for this game and the developers are asking for another 500$ to 1000$ (since these players have already spent way too much money on a single game). 2000$ dollars total... I could be one of the worlds most powerful gaming computers with that money or heck something really nice besides only one game.
These developers should at be more considerate for peoples money and if it were to happen to them also... they sure as well don't like it either. So why can't you just simply allow us to use our accounts on two simple systems that require wi-fi??? This has nothing to do with cross platforming, and it surely does not have anything to do with servers.
The golden rule for the consumers is to be sure they are satisfied with their products and it to be a reasonable price. So far people are already satisfied with STO... why make everybody pay for the same exact thing and let everyone lose there progress? And especially there is players out there who have like over 30 captains?
Please, please find a easier way to make things even more honorable for this community. Thank you.

And even if they expected that, practical and licensing limitations might force the issue anyway.
So if you're like me and have invested hundreds of Dollars (or rather €uros) in this game - stay on the PC. If the game still runs on your machine, no need to change.
Also, for the console players it might actually be quite unfair if they suddenly had to face the space-rich PC players that amassed huge amounts of Dilithium and EC and expect to get 100 Million+ EC for a Tier 5 lockbox ship when most new console players would be happy to have one million after reaching level 50.
The game really could have used the infusion of players that would have come with cross platform play. As for new players not being up to pace, that would be an issue in a competitive game, but not a game like STO.
Either way, the argument is moot, the decision has been made. Your best advice is exactly what was said above.. you're not losing your purchases from your PC account so just continue like you were and you won't notice any real difference at all. I highly doubt they're expecting anyone to buy multiple lifetime accounts,
Nope, probably not. Different servers do not mean they are going to want vastly diverging versions of the game on their servers. So anything imbalanced on Holodeck will be on X-Box and Playstation, too. Some version differences will probably exist, mostly due to a different patch cycle. As I understand it, there are certain test/evaluation requirements expected on Playstation (and X-Box?) that are infeasible to be done weekly.
Of course, it remains to be seen how they will deal with old lockbox stuff.. Plasmonic Leech might be unavalable outside of the KDF unless they rerun all the old lockboxes, for example. TOR at some point combined prizes from their lockbox-equivalent into a special lockbox, I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if STO did something similar.
You are making a some assumptions in this what you wrote,
Cryptic wouldnt ask players for their wallets, cryptic does its best to entice customers instead by making content that players would want to spend money on, what the average player chooses to do is up to them. also the developers need to make a living as well, it wouldnt be fair to expect them to get paid little for so much effort and cryptic itself needs a return in profits in money they sank into each new project they got coming out.
Now as far as the consoles are concerned there is no cross platform going on, and you will just have to accept that, some "whales" on this game can sink thousands of $$$/£££/€€€ into the whole thing so console based sto wouldnt make much difference to them. others will just have to start over with a greater customer base to work with.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I still think they're better off to dump the Klingon and Romulan factions entirely for at least the first year or two. They can hold them in reserve as major new launches if the consoles take off, and if it does take off it gives them a chance to use all that new income to actually polish/debug the other factions a bit before putting them out there.
I would agree with you if there was any kind of PVP worth playing. But there isn't. Honestly, I don't care if i have to start over, or even if my 200 day veteran status is gone, I just want the C-store Items on Console that i owned on PC to be able to be "Claimed"
I've spent hundreds of dollars on ships, uniforms, Bridge sets, Bundles, and I want to be able to use them on Console.
I can't really blame Cryptic making players to restart on those platforms. We still have like a half a year to think about if we want to restart.
My current stance is I will buy a PS4 and will restart. (And I'm a very anti-console PC masterrace player lol...)
I do not recall seeing an clause in the agreement for the LTS (which I have not purchased) indicating everyone who has purchased the LTS will be entitled to having a LTS on consoles as well.
I do not play many MMOs (STO being the only one), but from what I can tell, the vast majority of MMOs that are available on multi-platforms do not allow for cross platform interaction. Correct me if I am wrong...
I don't really care about consoles, but I did read a comment (that is not from a Cryptic Dev), that when STO is released in Fall 2016 it will only be as of season 11.5. The AoY expansion will not be available for them until early next year. Not sure if that is due to additional development time / testing or to prevent confusion to new players by effectively giving them the option to join two "different" Federation factions.
If true, then that could cause problems if Cryptic allowed players to transfer accounts between PC and console since they will not have the same assets / content.
Actually STO was going to be on the 360 back in 2010 but then was cancelled so they did have it in mind.

You are given a choice to play the other platform, and choosing to make purchases on it. If you feel its not fair or a horses a$$ buying stuff then take that as a sign and don't.
For the record, I do plan on trying out the console version to see what it is like, but I plan on staying with the PC version as my main focus, so it does not bother me if I can't get my stuff on console.
Sure, technically Cryptic may not see the reason to do so but every post I see so far regarding data transfer has all been about the individual (me me me). What about those of us who have friends who don't play on pc but would love to play sto with us?. I have about 8 friends who don't play on pc and are console only. We love to play games together and tend not to play things we cant all play.
This is where a huge boon to Cryptic could come in. If I don't have access to all my purchases (don't care about toons I would start again) I wont play on console. If I don't play on console, my friends wont and we will play other things instead (Ark, division, dying light etc), However!, if they give little old me my purchases I would be glad to play on console it would only be like creating a new toon not much difference AND I can bring in 8 friends to play and they would easily make purchases. But again not without me!.
So to summerise:
Me without account unlocks = stay on pc (cryptic makes nothing)
Me with account unlocks = me and friends play on console and could make 8x the amount.
to me its a no brainer , I'm sure theres a lot of other pc gamers here with console friends who would love to bring them into the star trek universe. Please Cryptic, give us a reason to play both pc and console.
Oh and just incase the argument of some people will be overpowered etc etc, nothing in the zen store can make ppl overpowered over newbies. its just uniforms and ships and vanity stuff. we would still have to grind to craft uber equipment so having access to our zen purchases will not affect new players.
I can't verify anything, but I can provide one tiny data point: When you buy Zen for Star Trek Online, you have to select a server. Currently there is only one (Tribble and Redshirt are not listed there), but I would imagine that in the future, you might also see an X-Box and a Playstation Server. You could try and see what Neverwinter is offering you when you try to purchase Zen.
good point when you bought your stuff be it through the c-store or through the web site or paid subs monthly or lifetime you were doing so for the PC version of the game, although some of the console versions material has been ported over from the pc version it would be wise for you to think of them as completely different entities.
this would be exactly the same if they closed down star trek online and launched star trek online version 2 as has been suggested by many posters, you would be in exactly the same position with having to start afresh and buy any stuff you want from the new version.
as always the choice is yours, go to a console version and you loose everything or stay on the pc version and you loose nothing.
exactly the same as if you stopped playing sto and started playing neverwinter.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
What I haven't seen is anything to suggest that I won't be able to log in to my account on a console and access all my characters and gear there.
I'm just going to file this thread with all the others complaining about functionality (or the lack thereof) that hasn't been announced yet. Speculation is, as always, pointless.
Here's the simple option. Just keep using the PC. Genius right?

Maybe take some responsibility for your money and not buy the thing that you don't want?
They aren't doing this for us, though we may benefit from it in the long run.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.
I'm pretty sure it was dropped maybe not in the 1st minute but in the second. (when you design something with 4 hotbars and 10+ buttons on screen then consoles are not on your mind...)
you must be new to multiplatform games
Neverwinter on XBox and PC are different servers and never do they meet. The PC version gets updates more often, and new Expansions at least 2 weeks in advance. Things pop up and are removed at different intervals from each. Some zen items arent accessible in XBOX(At least they used to not be, I havent played XBOX in awhile)
STO will be different servers, with different updates and season releases compared to whats going to be on console.
As for why your not going to get your items transfered its simple, you were never promised STO on console, you made your purchases solely for use on the pc.
Why should a company, that will try to make a profit give you everything from your pc account to a new console account. Cause their nice? Cause YOU Deserve it? Try seeing if that sticks in any type of legal action. You were never promised the ability to port your purchases, your not going to get them.
Another point is a level playing field. Ive read some DPSWARRIORZ saying its tough if the new console players cant keep up with their leetz dps...actually its tough for you...cause cryptic isnt filled with morons (no matter how we might feel sometimes)...
if your a brand new player, and your taking your ship to battle in a red alert fo the first time...you and all the others who made it in get ready for this awesome fight...and Captain Epeen of the U.S.S. Douchebag flies up and blows all the Borg cubes away in under 3 seconds...are you really gonna want to continue to play....even if you do, if this happens more than once your pretty much gonna drop the game...and your gonna tell your friends...and your gonna post about it...and cryptic loses money...lots of money...just so some pc bozo can show off to console players that have no chance to be where the pc player is anytime soon...no gonna happen
If you dont wanna lose your purchases stay on pc...if you really want to play console, have fun, but dont act like your entitled to anything that youre not...
