Does anyone know if there is a recorded version of the DEV panel announcement and/or the Q&A session??? If so, can someone direct me to the proper place... Good info from what I see so far, but video would be nice
I have to agree here -- a youtube video would be great right now.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

That looks like the end of the info. There are more than 40 dev blogs coming our way about Delta Rising.
Alright, that's it for me; gonna go grab dinner.
Thanks for updating the forum with the info from the interview. I was onky able to catch bits and pieces on Twitter so this helped once I got the chance to sit and flip through the forums. Your effort is much appreciated!
I am fine with this assuming the upgrade cost is reasonable. But there is no evidence to support this theory from the limited information provided. In fact based on Al's quotes it will not be the case.
I hope I am proven wrong and I am being Chicken Little on the forum. Past experience however has left me jaded.
I'll be honest, I'm not entirely doom and gloom about this myself, because I honestly been expecting it ever since they said there was going to be an Expansion 2.
But like many, I am concerned that my many, many purchases will be obsolete, even if the Devs say they aren't. (They been wrong before, like the recent lie that was 9.5). And I still hate how they milked us with Fleet ships. Also, I don't really by Geko's line about us gearing up in MK14s and pretend nothing is wrong, (do people really fly around in Tier 4s with Mk12s? Geko?).
I expect the Tier 6 ships will start rolling out like there is nothing wrong, just like they did with the Post-Odyssey ships. And at this point, I really believe after a year, they will start pulling out Teir 6 Refits of Refits of Tier 5 ships that we have to pay another 3000 zen for (you all know Tier 6 ships will be 3000 zen a piece).
At this point, I feel like a cow that's been milked to death, with a yoke around my neck (grinding).
You wanna know what's funny about the people complaining over T6 ships? They sure don't complain when they buy a new Apple with like one new feature every year for way more money....
You, the consumer, choose to lake the risk that something you buy in-game will change. The TOS directly states this.
You chose to purchase it, so you live with that purchase.
You only have yourself to blame for spending money in the first place.
But we know this post will be ignored as people strive to complain as it feeds their obsession.
This exactly. I am not against monetization IF it is done rationally. But all indications based on their comment is that there will be no "upgrade path" to Tier 6. They might buff Tier 5.x a bit but it will definitely lack the features of Tier 6 forcing a new purchase.
Why does there need to be an upgrade path to Tier 6? As long as my Tier 5.999999 ship (upgraded Tier 5 ship) is comparable to a Tier 6 ship, then it doesn't matter if a Tier 6 ship has a unique ability that my Tier 5.999999 ship can't use. After all, almost all Tier 5 C-Store ships have unique abilities that can't be used by any other ship except for a few exceptions like the Avenger with the Cloaking Device (still irritated by them adding another Starfleet ship that can use cloak).
If a Tier 5.999999 ship has comparable stats to a Tier 6 ship like similar shields, hull, console slots, bridge officer slots, and weapon slots, then there should be no problem. So if Tier 6 ships have 2 Commander slots, 10 weapons, and 12 consoles, then Tier 5.999999 ships should have 2 Commander slots, 10 weapons, and 13 consoles. The Tier 6 ship having one less console is due to the special Tier 6 ship ability.
Knowing Cryptic, the upgrade process would involve replacing your old Tier 5 or 5.5 ship with a new Tier 5.999999 ship.
Transcripts or a an official summary of the details ON main page would be better. But that would require a minimal amount of effort from their team. If Brandon was here I am sure we would get something this weekend. Sadly, we don't even have that.
The devs have said recently that the responsibility of creating transcripts and posting videos is directly on the part of the interviewer. So if Priority One or Stoked does an interview with a dev, then they would have to be the ones to release it.

Naw you are in the correct frame of judgement here as well as I am lol. It is kinda funny after F2P was unfolded people claimed I was just a negative person and this and that but its gone from ppl calling me a QQ/crying/whining. Now they refer to me as a KDF hardliner rofl and even when it was just the 18% as we were called now pretty much the whole player base that remains and even a lot that come on here once in awhile that quit playing are like yea we will believe it when we see it. Roughly though the way it sounds to me is that they ran out of stuff they were willing to actually spend time working on. So what they are going to be doing is raising the level cap and basically what we will be required to do is basically start over from scratch.
They always say oh no trust us none of that will happen. First step will be people will start preparing for this expansion and what they will do is hard cap whatever resources ppl might use to try to stay ahead of the curve. So pretty much fleet credit, EC, and dilithium are the main 3 resources ppl will use for this and it will get hard capped. Then pretty much their will be another conversion on gear so even if you have xii on every character now it will basically be downgraded/nerfed into something less desirable for gameplay than what xii is now. Reason I say this is because its happened before countless times and they will do so again.
The last issue on the actual release of what is more than likely going to make season 7 look like a smooth launch is the fact they have bumped this launch of this 2-3 times already. The time as well put into this was anywhere from november to the crunch time of october unless it gets pushed into next year which might possibly happen. They should have known the pitch forks and forum fires would be coming in full force. Just my opinion but it looks like all they plan on doing for the rest of STO's lifespan is revamp stuff till that horse dies, then nerf everything down so badly, and then make a new mark/level gear of what you had before lol with nothing really changing except for making new ques and reps to drop into. The worst part of it all is that not only Klingons/KDF will be left out of the expansion most likely the romulan characters will be hit hard as well.
So welcome Expansion 2: Deltra rising followed by Season 10: Profits Unsatisfactory Iconian Gateways Close.

Agreed. I hope I am wrong. But I am not paying another cent to upgrade ships to do lame TRIBBLE PvE content that will receive some modest buffs. PvP is already dead so that's another reason not to bother.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
There probably wouldn't be so much backlash about tier 6 vessels if, you know, Cryptic wasn't so vague about it. But as usual, this is what Cryptic does. They introduce something major with little details hoping to get people hyped but instead has the opposite effect. People assume the worst and start crying doom and failure. And Cryptic just sits back and let's this mess happen. They are absolutely horrible when it comes to announcements and general PR.
They need to stop doing this ****. It's stupid and getting old.
Except this is a totally bogus comparison. First most people don't actually. I bought a few Apple products over the years and they upgrade the software and support their stuff for years. Most people use stuff until they no longer find it meets their needs. Same goes for cars and other real world stuff. MMOs create false need for upgrades by artificially making gear obsolete.
Sorry I paid for my ships once already. I won't pay for them again (full price at tier 6). To add insult to injury canon ships are no longer of interest to them so most ships I want to play won't be available at tier 6. Sorry but I can connect the dots ... as Q said .. from A to B to C.

It's called a teaser campaign. The concept had it's moment, but it's been outdated for well over a decade now. There are no good surprises left in entertainment, so they might as well come out with it.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
Sorry if I'm repeating anyone, but I'm not reading 40-something pages.
A complaint I haven't seen before I skipped ahead: Harry Kim? I actually had to look him up on Memory Alpha because he was so forgettable. Admittedly, Voyager wasn't exactly overflowing with memorable or compelling characters, but just about any cast member would have been better.
Agreed. I was relatively new to the game ... came in fall of 2012 post F2P. Initially, I was hugely supportive of the devs and the game's model. I spent a modest sum (15-20) every month and was generally excited about improvements. 2 years of deception, grinds and cash grabs have worn me out completely. I stopped spending money last Nov and I am glad I stopped then. I will be shocked if current players spend crazy money on this shameless cash grad sans any real content. But stranger things have happened.

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Not happy about this Expansion at all. For starters, we're starting the Delta Quadrant, when we still don't have full access to the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Quadrants yet. There's whole sections of the Alpha and Beta quadrants that are still inaccessible. On top of that, it's annoying as all f*** to have to load every single sector block. Why is it so difficult for Craptic to create a galactic map that's continuous? On top of that, the Romulans and the Klingons need more sector blocks for their own space, as they share MOST of them with the Federation faction.
And this whole T6 thing....not happy at all about that either. I worked my butt off to get the ships that I have on my lvl 50s. And some of them aren't even fleet versions, because there aren't any fleet versions for some of them! I don't want my alts all flying the same ships. And this idea of making T5 ships competitive? How about using Suricata's idea of introducing computer core consoles that allow players to upgrade any ship they like to match their current level/rank, as opposed to getting a new ship each time? I don't care if CBS said "No" to T5 Mirandas, Connies, Oberths, and Centaurs. They're not the ones paying and playing Star Trek Online. It's not their decision to make. If the players want them, they should get them. Plain and simple.
And before adding "new" Craptastic ships into the mix, how about fixing ALL THE CANON SHIPS IN THE GAME, because you guys at Craptic clearly don't have eyes for details (like the fact that the Galaxy-X Dreadnought's Phaser Lancer is offcenter, not to mention that the ventral saucer register is covered up by the phaser lancer on the saucer, because, you know, you nitwits at Craptic forgot/refused to make a new texture map that adjusted the ventral saucer registry so that it isn't covered up by the phaser lancer). Not to mention the fact that the Nebula class has the wrong secondary hull design. There's issues with the Defiant, Intrepid, Nova, Cheyenne, Excelsior, Galaxy, Sovereign, Luna, Oberth, Miranda, Centaur, Akira, Steamrunner, Prometheus, TOS Connie, TMP Connie, K'Tinga, B'Rel, Vor'Cha, Negh'Var, D'Deridex, "Mogai", "T'Varo", and TOS Romulan Bird of Prey designs, that need addressing. And PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! If you're going to insist on creating new starship designs, PLEASE HIRE ANDREW PROBERT, RICK STERNBACH, AND THE REST OF THE STAR TREK ART DEPARTMENT TO DO IT FOR YOU! Because you Cryptic guys SUCK at starship design. Always have.
Further, if you're going to be adding new interiors, SCALE THEM PROPERLY! I am so sick and tired of cathedral sized interiors, that it's just laughable. And try creating canon, or releasing design options for interiors, so that people can CHOOSE the style of the interior: Be it Craptic-style, TNG-style, or Intrepid-style. In fact, why not just create bridges specific to canon designs, and create Crew Decks, Engineering decks, and such, that can either be used as generic, or, if we've SEEN a specific design style (like Defiant, TNG era, Voyager), then make those interiors available by default for those types of ships (IE - Galaxy, Nebula, Cheyenne, Ambassador all get TNG-style interiors. Defiants get the Belfast set, and all ships from Voyager/First Contact, on, get Intrepid-style interiors). With, maybe, a color scheme option, in case we want to change it up a bit from the Gunmetal Grey.
And, the NPC crews wandering around the interiors, it would be nice if their uniforms matched that of the player and the BOffs. And I know you can make it happen - the change to all NPCs wearing the Odyssey uniform proved that. Just give the players the option to decide.
I mean, really, is it so hard to give players what they want? I mean, we ARE spending money. Without US, CRAPTIC has no cash cow. Just Sayin....
Ultimately, I'm going to wait and see what happens. But I srsly think that Craptic needs to stop focusing so much on new content, and fix the mess they have now. in fact, split the development team so that half of them are working on new content, and the other half are fixing each other's messes. Otherwise, Delta Rising is the Death Knoll for Star Trek Online (which may or may not be a good thing).
Voyager wasn't exactly overflowing with memorable or compelling characters, but just about any cast member would have been better.
Which is why there was a lot of confusion when they did Dyson. The Voth battlezone? Really?? Yeah, They could have made better choices. There are aspects of ENT that this game would benefit from (i.e. exploration). But it's too late for hope. All we can do is sit back in F2P mode and watch the downward spiral.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Except it is usually much worse than we fear. Exhibit A => Crafting. I think D'Angelo has been completely true to his word. No new content is coming without a major grind associated with it (like grind-a-versery) AND now a major cash grab too.
Sorry this hamster isn't memory deprived!

A great part of what they say is either an out-and-out lie or misdirection.

Yeah its the whole process of the platform PWE has them on which is apparent in their games as well. Even neverwinter shows the hardcore result of what happens when you set something up just to be a nickel and dime milking cow. Its just being that this game has the "Star Trek" IP name slapped on it will last a little bit longer.
A Strange thing happening would be of Cryptic being truthful for once and then the KDF not being stuck behind a never ending wall of dev blogs and releases putting it further and further behind the dps race lol.
Yeah the butt hurt is incoming but this is what happens you have one player base who was screwed, the next one just shrugs it off because it didn't technically happen to them, and now we reach the point of the 2012 new player who has bought everything there is to buy so they knock over the ivory tower and rebuild it(The PvP community should be enraged as well that guy Gozer talked about how he was the PvP guy since they didnt have one so he quits, then they say Borticus is this guy and they have this secret scoreboard and TRIBBLE lol... So if people realize it that PvP deception since they said no one was in charge of it or anything has been going on now for 2.5 years lol without as much as a sliver of development).
And an even greater part is things that actually show up in the game. But we never pay attention to that. Since, well... they're in the game.
And the things they say that do make it to the game are scary. Like BO with 100% crit and no power drain ... introduced into tribble less than 1 day before going live. This company is not exactly trustworthy in my book.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I'm still waiting on the ability to turn my first officer into an alt.
I'm still trying to figure out why we can have 4 commander BOffs, essentially 4 first officers.

Well put. I am Trek nut which is why I will hang around. But I have exactly 0 faith in this team. And for people who believe the PvP info ... all I have to say is LOL!

It's called a teaser campaign. The concept had it's moment, but it's been outdated for well over a decade now. There are no good surprises left in entertainment, so they might as well come out with it.
A complaint I haven't seen before I skipped ahead: Harry Kim? I actually had to look him up on Memory Alpha because he was so forgettable. Admittedly, Voyager wasn't exactly overflowing with memorable or compelling characters, but just about any cast member would have been better.

You seem upset...
Except it is usually much worse than we fear. Exhibit A => Crafting. I think D'Angelo has been completely true to his word. No new content is coming without a major grind associated with it (like grind-a-versery) AND now a major cash grab too.
Sorry this hamster isn't memory deprived!

We have 40 dev blogs for you to DOOOOM over, pace yourselves now or you might end up running out of things to see the worst in and accidentally see something you don't dislike about the game!
I might actually pay attention to your argument if you supplied one, used punctuation and avoided runoff sentences. Please take schooling seriously!

Challenge accepted! See you on the field of battle. Forum PvP is the only real hard content left in this "game" anyways.

The Devs say a lot of things.
A great part of what they say is either an out-and-out lie or misdirection.
And an even greater part is things that actually show up in the game. But we never pay attention to that. Since, well... they're in the game.
^^^ THIS.
is why I wear a tinfoil hat.
And the things they say that do make it to the game are scary. Like BO with 100% crit and no power drain ... introduced into tribble less than 1 day before going live. This company is not exactly trustworthy in my book.
