500 Zen! Which, not coincidentally, is how much a Fleet Module costs :) Ideally, this would be something that new and long-term players could get into. The core concept is also something I'd like to see done for weapons unless they come up with something else/better. I'd also like to see a dedicated shuttle-racing event,…
I remember that. Had STO made the F2P/hybrid transition by that point? I can't remember. Anyhow, I hope my idea, as presented, has enough in it that financially it'd make sense. Fleet Modules cost somebody Zen, and Unrep Materials cost somebody Dilithium.
What resolution are you running at? I'm coming into some money, so I'm debating giving my AMD A4-3400 laptop to a friend of mine and getting a Surface Pro.
Reasonable assessment, although I think that it could be monetized if we could buy more games via the shop. There are more card games that I could possibly think of that fit under the description of "poker," nevermind all the other possibilities. And don't forget fictional games like Tongo.…
As someone who regularly sells Dilithium for Zen, I'll admit to having an interest in a low Z:D ratio. I felt that ~1:150 was a bit more equitable, but overall its in my favor. I do dislike being under 1:100, but that's more a gut reaction, and I'll happily sell regardless. Heh :) That said, there are degrees of…
The purpose of the limits (refining and earning) is to provide a predictable Time to Reward rate. Raising the cap and adding more ways to get Dilithium would run counter to that. I imagine that right now? We're earning Dilithium at a rate they're overall happy with. Dilithium sinks are also time-sinks (earning) and…
Personally, I'd rather not see it simply because it doesn't make sense unless we start getting more sim-ish, with specific hit locations and the like (sort of like Battletech or Aerotech from eons ago). And, really, I'd rather not see that (personal taste and all that). I can understand not wanting to see nerfs to your…
I personally would not want to see that. A free player might well have use for the Dilithium in order to convert it to Zen at the very least, plus crafting. Zen can be turned to services, costume bits, ships, whatever, and that's an important part of the game's revenue model. My problem with trading unrefined ore is that I…
Well, there's also gifting or helping out another fleet/guild/whatever-mate. If you have no cash, being able to transfer Zen would be fantastic to give a friend a costume bit or whatever. That said, the potential abuses far outstrip the benefits (stupid RMT punks).
Research fail! :D http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/neverwinter-days-money-and-knowledge/ http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/634/feature/7129/Neverwinter-Get-Everything-You-Want-By-Playing.html So, just like Star Trek so far as I can tell. Astral Diamonds will be account bound until you hit their version of the…
I'm not quite sure I follow, but then I'm not tracking NW. * In STO you can buy Zen, which can buy 1. Dilithium and 2. Master Keys plus Fleet Modules, both of which can be sold for Energy Credits at very nice prices (millions). * You can also use Energy Credits to buy things that can be used to earn Dilithium, such as…
I'd go with shared account storage. While some things are character bound, like Borg Salvage (I think), there's plenty of good stuff that isn't. Be it for shuffling money between characters, you can also trade items, commodities, etc. One of my favorite things to trade is Contraband, since its a very useful thing for…
I've not gotten any emails, but at the same time? I try to avoid betas these days. Used to love them before, but now, a few years later? Yeah, ruins all the surprises, its actual work, etc. I will salute those of you who are going for it, though! Please, write up good bug reports, and hope that you enjoy it over all :)
I would have to disagree with this. Not everyone enjoys crafting in MMOs, and not everyone who likes crafting likes it in STO. I'd argue that it'd be better to make crafting better, more attractive, more lucrative, etc., which would improve the game. Nerfing Master Keys would not improve the game, and would not solve any…
I use it primarily for the Ferengi Trader DOFF that I can do in my D'Kora, and some trading DOFFs. I wish I could find that GPL for Contraband DOFF more often, since Contraband is pretty much the cornerstone of my whole moneymaking strategy.
While I'd like it for myself, anything that slows the demand for keys would be less profitable for me. That said, if less people are opening lockboxes since they have what they want in terms of big stuff? Then the other stuff found in the lockboxes might go up in price as well. Hmm... I'm not sure!
Absolutely. I'm sitting on a few hundred lockboxes, and am opening them slowly but surely. I keep the Lobi and generally sell the stuff inside. I'm really looking forward to getting a ship, because that'll be a tremendous windfall if I decide to sell it!
Its always a fight between "Dilithium is too expensive!" and "Zen is too expensive!" However, I think its also there to reduce the attractiveness of RMT farmers from selling their services. Additionally, its probably there simply to slow us down - how much is Dilithium used for end-game equipment and all that? Nothing like…
If you've got Contraband, there's a great DOFF mission for you. http://samonmaui.blogspot.com/2012/09/low-effort-dilithium-takes-time.html 5 Contraband + 4 hours + 1 Security Officer = 2,000 Dilithium Also, if you have prisoners in your DOFF roster, or have EC to spend? (edit: updated link to newer post with updated…
I personally don't like the idea of scaling because the number of people in a fleet doesn't directly relate to the number of people actually contributing. As such, this was my idea (from another thread): http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=7835951#post7835951
Dilithium buys Zen. Zen buys stuff I want, like Lockbox keys. Lockboxes have yummy Lobi in them equipment and such, or selling on the Exchange. GPL is mostly used for some DOFF missions. EC is used to buy Keys when they're on the market for cheap (usually during a sale), and buying stuff to contribute to my fleet with.
Part of what makes STO harder to classify is the design. You can absolutely interact with players on the space map, but will you? Well, maybe, maybe not, I generally don't. But the instancing makes that a step more interesting in that there are many players who are there, but you can't see, yet still interact with (or…
I like the idea of a more dynamic Reputation system, where any action will be viewed positively and negatively by various factions, where it can go up and down rather than simply going up. I've suggested as much before, although I realize that what I want isn't necessarily the same as everyone else. Certain groups will be…
I'd love to hear more on this idea. That said, I sort of doubt they'll remove the requirement for Dilithium - it seems like they brought about the Z|D exchange with the expectation of Dilithium sinks such as Fleet Projects.
Okay, double checked; Vent wasn't on admin. I also hit compatibility mode to Windows 7 for both. Things work again, although UAC keeps coming up. Not something I normally deal with, so I'll have to figure that out later...
A fleet with 8 contributing will advance at same rate regardless of it being a fleet of 10 or 200. Honestly, right now? There's incentive enough to kick people out if they're not contributing. "Everyone needs to contribute their Dilithium quota, or else its out you go!" I'll agree to disagree on this point. Large or small,…
I've been suggesting that Cryptic should make smaller projects that small fleets can do faster, but in the general scope of things will take the same amount of time. With the time/resources it takes to finish 1 normal size project (and get the same rewards), you'd have to do 3-5 of the smaller ones. Granted, larger…
As a former City of Heroes player, I'd love to see craftable equipment in the vein of the IO system. Granted, the peculiarities of COH's gameplay won't necessarily transfer over, but I'd love to see the attempt. What might work? Have craftable equipment (kits, armor, weapons, shields, etc) that start off with low stats and…
