I have some fighters but I'm sworn to using runabouts; they've saved my hide many a time. 4 runabouts tractoring an enemy can give you time to run away or, if you have the advantage, beat them senseless.

I didn't know pets benefitted from consoles/doffs. I do have a shield drain doff I can use, I'll have to give that a try. I considered polarized disruptors but wasn't sure if they were worth it. I have some EC left over after I refit this guy so maybe I'll buy a few on the exchange.

Yes. Personally, I love the new UI and haven't found any bugs with it (yet). From a graphic design standpoint I find it to be much cleaner and easier to use. And I don't miss the old Klingon UI at all. Orange colored names for allies always confused the heck out of me.

Recently, out of the blue, I get a black screen after launching the game. The only thing I can think to blame was maybe a recent patch or something...nothing has changed on my end. I've tried reinstalling the game to no avail. Is anyone else having a similar problem/know how to fix it?

Okay, this is weird: I've got 9 points in flow caps, I don't have the flow consoles in right now. I get something like -326.9 shields for tachyon each pulse, and -125 per pulse on the tractor beam. And also, I think one of the reasons people get mad about bugs etc. Is the fact that they care about the game. If they hated the game they wouldn't play it. Cryptic does a great job. I'm continually amazed at the fact that a smaller company like them can pull off an MMO with 2 million players. General consensus among the game Dev community (at least the ones I lurk on) is that you need to be a huge company to make any kind of mmo, and cryptic has proven otherwise.
