It has actually started and, out of better candidates than, I dunno, Martok who survived the Hur'q offensive on the Founders' homeworld with just the freaking Sword of Kahless, rebels go with the dishonorable, always-running-away-from-battle, time-displaced, space-mushroom-obsessed J'Ula from a supposedly-dissolved-long-ago house? And nobody is gonna comment about that?
Why would they go to Martok when Martok
-Doesn't have, and never had, political ambitions
-Has no real problems with J'mpok
-Has no problems with any of the big societal changes the Klingons have gone through since STO began
Whereas J'Ula is literally "MUH OLD KLINGON WAYS!" defined.
As for being dishonorable, and always running from battle, that pretty much Klingons, as a species, from the Enterprise Era all the way up until Martok took rule in DS9. Klingon "honor" was always "whatever we want to do is more the most honorable thing, no matter how TRIBBLE it is!" It was Ezri pointing this out to Worf that made him kill Gowron.
Also, the early KDF story has a mini-KDF civil war as-is. The losing side being exiles(in practice) would give them reason to ally with well, anyone willing to help them.
How do you counter Viral Engine abilities that the Mokai Klings use so often?! My ship goes into the rock & roll ability but without the roll and darts straight out of the battle area by at least 20-25 kms..As soon as one is done I get hit with a second and a third so losing time coming about a whacking everything in sight..

Good question. I'm not sure engineering team fixes it, but it would be the logical thing. I think attack pattern omega protects from the turn rate debuff, but maybe not the speed boost.
Personally I've had trouble reacting to it in time to even figure it out, its usually over too fast before I can try to enact any countermeasures, and if you have the right countermeasures active, the AI typically won't even try to use a debuff that is 100% useless. Its definitely one of the most frustrating abilities for a forward firing ship, though.

It has a 5km range, so if you stay further that they can't hit you.
Though since the Mokais don't give ship XP, I've pretty much stopped playing those patrols at all, instead doing Ninth Rule and/or Sentinels.
they can squeeze players out only up to a point is something their metric showes as well. I mean a high effort character level cap increase or T7 ships are something they refrain from doing after their experience with Delta Rising back in 2014. Better a bit less milk than unhappy cows.
Will be the same with these new events.
What happened during this? I started last year so I missed it.
That was interesting just ran it with a stop watch and did all 4 patrols solo in my Dreadnought in 18min 21 seconds on normal skipping Brairs and including load screens which is a lot faster then I expected. I stopped the timer when the reward pop up on the last patrol. Add another 15seconds for Red Alart to end and warp out. Sentinels took a little longer this time at 3min 10seconds while I got Ruins of Doom down to just over 4 minutes. I went though a silly amount of waves in the time gate bits.
It should be possible to get it under 18min with a few tricks but to be honest I am not that interested in changing my setup for a speed run.
For those that want to max event XP as fast as possible Sentinels + Ruins of Doom then the TFO seems to be the fastest way if you have the right group. Personally I prefer doing 4 patrols as its not that much slower.
Honestly speaking...I can get 60 points in about 13 min. I do the mission, skip all dialog and cut scenes to get it done in about 10 min and than I do sentinel in 3. So timing the other patrols, I get those done in about 5. The thing is, I always though I took around 2-3 min to do those wave of 5 on normal. I timed those and found out they are sub 1 min runs at best and just above a min at worst. Argala is just above 2 min mark. Course these new patrols don;t have the travel time...so time wise, sentinel and the wave of 5 are probably similar...and Argala is stupid good reward wise on the first run. Those time gated ones are still kinda terrible. No so much because of the time it takes...but time gates of infinite enemies are stupid.
Just for fun, I timed Sentintels today.. on average it takes me about 3:25 to run the patrol. My worst time was 3:44, so it's a pretty quick patrol. I am just overall tired of the 'event' already and trying to finish it as quickly as possible, so I just do Sentinels 4 times (changing characters.)
If you have Competitive Engines that lets you zip from one point to another quickly, it's a super fast patrol. I am averaging about the same as you, it takes me between 12-14 minutes to do the 4 patrols. It's not bad time wise, I am just really bored with it. I honestly would have rather had it be 15-30 points a day for 30 days then 60pts for 20 days.
That's pretty much how I feel. If only they allowed us to run Elite once a day even twice a day and personally I would find the fun factor would go up. Once I hit 1200 that's me done. Would be interesting to see the numbers on how many people used to run the full event and now stop 10days before the end.
I personally stop playing once I get my prize. I typically do not go right to the end of an event. The only time I didnt is when I did the 3 month run for the ship. I did the first two almost to the end, the last part I only had to do like 8 days and I stopped right after that. I will be sooooo happy when tomorrow comes, the event and excessive time wasted on event per day ends YES! bye bye event dont come back anytime soon in your current condition. Today I go back to normal game play! THANK YOU no more event!
That's pretty much how I feel... Once I hit 1200 that's me done. Would be interesting to see the numbers on how many people used to run the full event and now stop 10days before the end.
I think a lot of folks will continue to run the event because that's where the bonus Dilithium will be. Nothing for getting the prize itself, but a chance to earn something like 100k+ Dil if you play every day after you get the prize until the event ends. Even with that, I am like you, 1200 and out.
I detest this new system and having to run multiple things daily. It's nice that there are "multiple" options to be able to complete the event but needing to do more than one thing to get full progress daily just kills it for me. The patrols I've tried are completely bugged for me and won't progress past certain points. I got these issues on day one and didn't bother trying them again until I saw there was a fix to one of the patrols in the patch last week. Same issue, so the patrols are not an option for me. Which means in order to make daily progress, it's 2 runs of the new queue. I am sick of it at this point and will not run it again unless it pops up as a random queue. It's not like it's difficult or anything, just tedious at this point.
Of course, that's if I ever have time to play the GAME ever again. With all these events and my current life situation I only get half an hour or so to play every day. And with this event, that half hour is spent getting my full daily progress done.

I find it fun, but too time comsuming, for the first time in 9 years.. i wont be able to make it, i just dont have that much time, if they would do a bonus week or something, would have been perfect, as earning twice the amount.. but alas, no... so.. yeah.. it will be the first ship i miss... one of many, probably

Hazard emitters will sometimes counter it if you catch it during the spawning geometry visual phase, once the acceleration starts it is too late to do anything about it. Another trick seems to be to stay out of their forward arc, it seems to have the same arc limits as a lot of other science abilities. Of course while you avoid one cruiser's forward arc another could zap you from the crowd they way these patrols like to throw in mass waves.

Very true. The fact that you can do it on multiple characters is nice though the overall increase in the time to get it done can be a problem on busy days sometimes. In this particular case though part of that seems to be the unpopular special TFO this event which means it takes about 45 minutes minimum for those who dislike the TFO to rotate in four characters doing one patrol each instead of a potentially faster TFO and two patrols.
For me it is not really a problem since I am only a day or two behind from missing the optimal windows due to schedules and the ten day pad is plenty for that (it would not be if power or internet went down for a few days to a week like happens here a lot though).
I have a little additional information I can share with you, to answer a few common questions that've come up here and elsewhere.
no more 30k dil per character for doing event on each character.
In the new system, we've attempted to account for the average Dilithium earnings that Events of this type account for across our playerbase, in the form of a series of tweaks being made to the Bonus Earnings you can receive after the primary prize has been received.
More information on this will soon be forthcoming!
what will happen to the not auto-completed old event missions when the events move?
We have a plan in place for these, but I'm not sure if we're ready to announce it just yet. Stay tuned for additional info!
what will happen with stockpiled FTFO tokens?
We also have a plan in place for these. Hold onto them until we're ready to announce that!
Don't believe this last part. Same thing was said in a live chat about the double tokens for reaching level 5 on reputations being able to do something with like convert back. WE GOT NOTHING. Basically this will be just dropped until months later when they hope everyone forgets about them. That's just how Cryptic operates.

Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
I'm glad to see the back of this event. In theory the numbers weren't too bad. But after 2 weeks of 4x sentinels it was starting to hurt pretty bad. Sure I could spice it up a bit with some variety. But I really have to get things done as quickly as possible. The event and the endeavors was taking around 40 minutes lately which is just more time than I can give the game.

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I'm done with this event and I can now never touch any of those toxic patrols ever again. Or any of this new content really. I have never hated new content in this game as much as this last batch of stuff. Think I am done with this game until winter event because of this "new and improved" event system. And if the anni, summer and winter events are gonna be like this...I'm done with this game entirely.
I'm with you.. never been happier to finish an event, ever. This thing has pretty much killed my desire to play, I have never felt like STO was an actual 'grind' before now. The idea behind the progress system is a good one, but the 60 points per day thing was just awful and hands down the worst event that STO has ever run.
Instead of 5 min per day for 30 days, they did 30 min a day for 20 days.. that's definitely a move in the wrong direction. I am really happy this is over and hope they don't use this system again if it's going to have such a high daily requirement.
Hmm I can see why one might be unhappy about it taking longer to do the daily, but that's pretty much the only thing I can think of to complain about. I LOVE that I no longer need to even pay attention to which character is doing the event. Soo....
Good:
Multiple options for event progress.
Event progress is account wide.
No need to store event tokens.
bad:
takes longer as you need a minimum of two missions.
grindy
I'm getting stuff for doing the event. It's not like Summer event or winter event where the ONLY thing you get is event progress. It's more like a bigger version of the CC or Mirror event where you get a ship instead of a piece of gear. So I'm getting stacks of Disco marks. I don't get rep progress for flying high.

I agree with most of this.. the system itself is good, the daily requirement however.. is awful.
The established 'norm' up to this point for Event ships has been a small, trivial task. Something like Fastest Game on Ice or Flying High. The most extensive one is the Anniversary Event and even that is just to travel to 3 locations a day and spend 1 min in each one. The 'norm' on these is also 30 days.
I like that they cut the total time down to 20 days, but the massive increase in daily time required was not a good trade off. The time requirement per day went from 5 min to 25-30 min on average.
I like everything about it except for the daily requirement. 1 or 2 patrols tops would have been more then enough. That or run the queue or mission once and you're done. Given a choice, I MUCH prefer to do 5 min a day for 30 days over this system.

Of course, that's if I ever have time to play the GAME ever again. With all these events and my current life situation I only get half an hour or so to play every day. And with this event, that half hour is spent getting my full daily progress done.

Uh.....My tokens got wiped from the galaxy when the rep system was updated..

A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"

The 60 point daily was terrible.

Blah Blah Blah.. you love the event.. Cryptic rules.. it's all great.. got it.
lol.. ok, yeah.. that's true.
If you know to just accept a mission near the objective for the free transwarp, it's not an issue.. but I can't assume everyone knows that.
