I think one of the contributing factors to the varied play time for some in "The Ninth Rule" is the enemies sometimes change, which means tactics may need to change. So far, I've gone up against Mo'Kai Klingons, Gorn, Nausicaans, and Hirogen in that patrol.

you can add breen, terrans and fek'ihri to that list
It can indeed spawn a wide range of different enemy/mercenary factions, including multiple different ones in the same run. It also has the least amount of waiting and running back and forth. Definitely my favorite of the patrols.

That was interesting just ran it with a stop watch and did all 4 patrols solo in my Dreadnought in 18min 21 seconds on normal skipping Brairs and including load screens which is a lot faster then I expected. I stopped the timer when the reward pop up on the last patrol. Add another 15seconds for Red Alart to end and warp out. Sentinels took a little longer this time at 3min 10seconds while I got Ruins of Doom down to just over 4 minutes. I went though a silly amount of waves in the time gate bits.

It should be possible to get it under 18min with a few tricks but to be honest I am not that interested in changing my setup for a speed run.

For those that want to max event XP as fast as possible Sentinels + Ruins of Doom then the TFO seems to be the fastest way if you have the right group. Personally I prefer doing 4 patrols as its not that much slower.

it's my favorite because i FINALLY get to send that bashk-mo'naar ferengi to prison where he belongs! which is not my first choice for where i want to send him, but starfleet officers aren't allowed to kill indiscriminately

It also makes it more fun, though. Yesterday I run it 4 times, with two different toons because I was not in the mood to play neither the episode nor the STF. You won't believe it, but I got Breen - always and ONLY Breen - every single time.
It has become something of an internal joke between our group, now, to see who gets what and how many times.
As @warpangel mentioned, you can also get different enemies in the same run.
That is fun, in my book. Though I wonder how, exactly, that sly Ferengi managed to convince Fek'ihri to work with him XD.

I want to know what he offered them for their "help"! I highly doubt they're interested in GPL or Credits. Was it ketracel? Parts and supplies for their starships? I'm curious!

I ran into the Fek'ihri once. Kar'fis all over the place. This is starting to sound like an Episode of 'Name that Tune'. I can run that Patrol in 5.3875 minutes. I can run it in 4.9876 minutes, etc.

All I know is I have about 90 minutes or so at night to play. I am able to do the 'Featured' TFO, 'The Ninth Rule', 'Sentinal', the three or four Endeavors, slot up Crafting Dailies, the Admiralty stuff, Fleet Mine, Fleet Starbase, Fleet Research Lab, K-13, Academy Doff Recruitments, Contraband Turn-in, Academy Lore assignments, and whatever else to get to full Doff Assignments. And I still have time to login to LOTRO to do a few Quests there.

It does seem like a bunch of house keeping though. Regardless what is said, it takes longer to do the days work for the Event than before.

Yesterday played the NINTH RULE patrol and got Breen, Hirogen, Terran, Gorn and Mokai Klingons..

Noticed another thing yesterday with the event counters..I wasn't in the mood to do anything but did 3 patrols (45 points), so, basically the counter wont proceed till you complete the daily 60 points and will stay in limbo..In my case if I did a single patrol today I'd have to wait 20 hours to get the next 60 points..So anybody that does a partial play through for the points is gonna be held up cause the event timer didn't reset for 20 hours..That kinda sucks with this event which requires multiple play through's to get the daily 60 points filled up..

Well, of course it is. With the new event UI, play any of the new content, and you automatically participate in the event.

If that turns out to be true, then forget about doing just the featured episode for 27 days... I have to watch that, too, and hope it's just an unintended glitch.

Not true. The event timer is not displayed until you hit the daily cap (something for them to fix), but it does start as soon as you get your first points.

I have done runs in multiple sessions and the timer has always counted from the first one. I have also done an 30-point day once and the daily reset normally even though the timer was never visible.

The ferengi probably claimed that the spores had some overlap to the mould that produces ketracel.

The event progress counter will probably be kept that way to promote the overly expensive buyout since as the event gets close to ending and folk realise they're a lot further behind than they thought they would be that buyout button will be blinking at them merrily.

The endeavours tied into the new stuff are the only ones I've really done in quite a while. That whole system simply doesn't feel rewarding with the nudges to player power while not bumping npc's to warrant it and the "reward" boxes giving R&D trash far too often.

They said in the Announcement Blog for this Event that the 20 hour timer started at the completion of the first task of the 20 hour period. So, for example, if you ran a Patrol at noon today, the timer starts and will reset at 8 AM tomorrow.

You can do whatever else to get those remaining 45 points towards today's 60 until 7:59 AM tomorrow. At 8:00 AM tomorrow if you only did 15 today that is it for today. You start a new 60 at 8:00 AM tomorrow

The East Coast Super Mutants are the ones I was talking about.

The game shows them as being able to
-Operate and maintain high tech laser weaponry
-Use high tech equipment like computers and other Vault systems
-Make and hold defensive fortifications at choke points and high ground locations
    -Have organized leadership structures
    -Plan patrols, raids, kidnappings/ransomings
-Strong in Fallout 4 gives some good insight into super mutant society, and reveals they have something no human society has ever managed to do, and have a functioning communist society that is an actual communist society and not some dictatorship being disguised as communism.

The East Coast Fallout games go out of their way to show that super mutants are actually fairly intelligent, they just have speech problems.

Organized leadership structures and "actual" communism. Where else but in a fictional reality?

But aren't these the same games that have a boss kind of mutant that has much higher grade armor and runs around with a minigun while the low level grunt is wearing rags and only has a board with a nail in it for a weapon (or worse is expected to blow themselves up for the cause?) That's a lot more like real life communism.

Speaking of the Ninth Rule, what is the deal with the Terran ships?

I'm not talking about the fact they're Terrans per se (even if it's a long way from the Badlands), but that they're 23rd century Terrans.

Are 2410-2411 "free space-time-displacing ion storms for everyone in the 23rd century Mirror Universe!" years or something? Why do these still show up? Wouldn't that be more logical to have the 25th century ones show up like they're here because Admiral Leeta is still trying to find out the right moment to strike again?

I know the real reason is because "duh, it's a Discovery-themed expansion" but between that and annihilating several fleets worth of J'Ula's sympathizers in two-century-old ships, my suspension disbelief is getting less and less existent.

    Speaking of J'Ula, as well...

Koren does mention in Ruins of Doom that those are rebels but even then... that's it?

Last time there was a POSSIBILITY of J'Ula starting a civil war and now what?
It has actually started and, out of better candidates than, I dunno, Martok who survived the Hur'q offensive on the Founders' homeworld with just the freaking Sword of Kahless, rebels go with the dishonorable, always-running-away-from-battle, time-displaced, space-mushroom-obsessed J'Ula from a supposedly-dissolved-long-ago house? And nobody is gonna comment about that?

Yup my bad..But the event timer being displayed needs to be fixed..

On the up side took me 25 mins with half a ship to do 2 patrols and 1 TFO..Still repetitive as hell though and enough to make the brain numb..

An unspecified number of Disco Terrans and klingons came here with J'ula and Killy, and in fiction "unspecified" is practically equal to "unlimited." In other words, they're going to run out of ships when the plot demands and not a moment sooner.

Besides which, infinite respawning enemies are par for the course in videogames anyway. Overthinking where they all come from is rarely productive.

Honestly speaking...I can get 60 points in about 13 min. I do the mission, skip all dialog and cut scenes to get it done in about 10 min and than I do sentinel in 3. So timing the other patrols, I get those done in about 5. The thing is, I always though I took around 2-3 min to do those wave of 5 on normal. I timed those and found out they are sub 1 min runs at best and just above a min at worst. Argala is just above 2 min mark. Course these new patrols don;t have the travel time...so time wise, sentinel and the wave of 5 are probably similar...and Argala is stupid good reward wise on the first run. Those time gated ones are still kinda terrible. No so much because of the time it takes...but time gates of infinite enemies are stupid.

Just for fun, I timed Sentintels today.. on average it takes me about 3:25 to run the patrol. My worst time was 3:44, so it's a pretty quick patrol. I am just overall tired of the 'event' already and trying to finish it as quickly as possible, so I just do Sentinels 4 times (changing characters.)

If you have Competitive Engines that lets you zip from one point to another quickly, it's a super fast patrol. I am averaging about the same as you, it takes me between 12-14 minutes to do the 4 patrols. It's not bad time wise, I am just really bored with it. I honestly would have rather had it be 15-30 points a day for 30 days then 60pts for 20 days.
    Insert witty signature line here.

The enemies of STO took lessons from the Nietzscheans. Secretly build a giant fleet of ships and not tell anyone your doing it, hide them where they cant be found and spring the trap when ready, while traiining for war daily until the time comes when the lessons can be put to practice.

I like traveling to particular planets to do patrols, it felt like I was actually doing them in a more realistic way where you discover them yourself unlike with the new ones where you just click a button and are instantly there.
