New Temporal Ship Bundle - Worth it?

majorcharvenakmajorcharvenak Member Posts: 231 Arc User
Might be jumping the gun here but noticed that Cryptic's new bundle is set to hit the streets. I'm pretty excited about this one Cryptic and I might be pulling my card out for this one. It looks like the devs are lifting the restrictions on this one an allowing the warbirds to be flown by non-Roms. Is anyone else excited about this new bundle and are they worth it? If not, I might just pick up the warbird separately as I always welcome more of those. ;)

I think it's definitely a move in the right direction. I hope that releasing packs like this that acknowledge most factions (I say most because there is no TOS variant) is the way to go. Keep this up Cryptic, I'll be buying the bundle.

I like the look of the Romulan warbird so I'm planning to at least buy it.

I like the KDF ship less and have the big Dominion pack plus piles and stacks and hangars full of Fed ships so I might leave it at that.

does this mean that we can only cross faction with rom and jem with this ships here or does it mean my fed can now use my t5 schimatar

No. Only these specific Romulan and Jem'Hadar ships are all-faction.

(And the Jem'Hadar ships that have the T6 mastery factions unlock, but again those specific ships only.)

I'm curious why they decided to not to continue to use the T6 mastery level for account unlock.
    Really weird direction IMO.

I'm of the same mind wrt Warbird. Looking at it again, can make out elements of the Haakona, T'Varo and Valdore in its makeup, which is FINE by me. Love all of those.

With respect to the Dominion, I just need more ships since I didn't get the pack so I might start with this bundle.

I quite like the looks of the Fed, Romulan, and Dominion ships, so I'll be buying the pack. In fact, I think the Edison class is going to be my DSC captain's permanent ship. I'm not likely to use the Klingon ship much, though. As I said in another thread, the ship team has been killing it with the updated Fed DSC ships, it's too bad they haven't given the KDF ships the same treatment. It would've been cool to see what they could've come up with to bring the DSC ships more in line with the current Klingon ship aesthetic .

Riddle me this? Does the cross-faction use allow for, say, a Klingon-allied Romulan to captain the Federation starship from the bundle? And for a Federation-allied Romulan to captain the Klingon starship from the bundle?

Additionally, the traits and consoles from these ships adjust slightly to theme to your faction! All starships come with the same console, but the passive boost will change which energy type it boosts. For Starship Traits, the both the name and the damage type affected will change. In both cases, Dominion captains will be getting a boost to Polaron weaponry, Romulan captains to Plasma weaponry, Klingon captains to Disruptor weaponry, and Starfleet captains to Phaser weaponry, as fits their signature weapons.

I will say, if I'm reading this correctly, I'm a little disappointed.
Does that mean, if as a JH I choose to get the Fed version of the ship... I still only get Polaron boosting?

If that's the case, there's literally no reason to ever buy the Fed or KDF ships (well, except Admiralty).
Just get the Romulan or JH one, and use it on every character, for the same boosts.

I'd prefer it if the appropriate ship for said faction boosted the standard energy type of that faction. eg. Romulan ship boosts plasma, regardless of the character you fly it on.

This was a fantastic opportunity for cross-faction energy boosting, and it was wasted.

The derestriction is the most interesting feature of the set.

Only the red/blue division left to ditch, now.

I’m probably just going to get the Romulan ship because it looks cool. Undecided on the rest of the pack. The BoFF layout isn’t great for my personal taste, consoles and traits sound interesting.

At this point, I’m officially undecided.

Dunno about the stations. No Lt. Cmdr. Tactical/Universal means I won't be able to slot 2 copies of FAW3.

But for the million-dollar question: will Feds flying the Kholhr Temporal Warbird be able to use the battlecloak?!

Very interesting indeed. The only ship pack I'd purchased was the temporal bundle. This may be something to save up for though. All the ships look really nice.
Now a LTS and loving it.

^^ This. Let us fly Klink ships already. With the first step towards that set already today, might as well go all the way.

I do not plan to get the bundle, but that is mainly a cash flow issue with bundles in general.

Also I only really like two of the ships in the bundle anyway. I am not a fan of the Hoover/Edison (DSC seems to be pumping out endless variants of that base design and it pales after a while) and I doubt if a Fed ceramic white skin would make it look any better (if such a skin is even available), and while the Klingon one is not bad I really have no use for it RP wise since almost all my KDF characters are Orion (the few others are all "alien") and it neither looks particularly Orion nor does it inspire any ideas for it good enough to get it despite the fact it is no better fitting for Orions than any other Klingon ship.

On the other hand, the Romulan ship looks great (easily the best of the bunch) and is a fresh design instead of a retread of an older one. I will probably save my T6 coupon for the single of this ship, or I might be able to just barely scrape up enough zen to get it during the discount window.

The fact that the ships are cross faction makes the Dominion one attractive for use with a "fake" Vorta captain made with a different faction's "alien" character until they bring out playable Vorta in the Dom faction (if they ever do). It is a shame that the console would be optimized to the wrong energy type, but I go more for theme than DPS chasing anyway. On top of that the ship itself is a nice design.

I don't see why they wouldn't. It's a feature of the ship. Tiaru Jarok asks in Butterfly , "Does EVERYONE have our cloaking technology?" My reply, "Yep." :p

The boff seating really isn't my thing. Maybe I've been a bit spoiled by flying too many ships that offer two Lt Cmdr seats, but only having a one Lt Cmder and a bunch of Lt seats locks out a lot of options.

The console and trait(s) look ok, but specifying an energy type is a bit confining. I'm neutral at best on the Fed design, and the KDF version really doesn't work for me at all, so I'm almost certainly not buying the whole bundle. I own enough Tac ships for all my toons that lean that way and it's not my favourite style.

I may pick up the warbird at some point since it's a nice looking cross-faction ship. The trait(s), console, and Admiralty stats are the same across all four, so there's not much point in buying more than one ship if the designs don't do much for me, especially when customization is likely to be limited since there are no lower tier variants.

I am not a fan of the temporal ships. So not getting one. Which is a shame since Ive been waiting for a new warship class ship.
    Otherwise, okay stats and models

Cool. :) Thx. May get one of these then. The Fed ship is just another, unimaginative saucer, yet again. But the Rom ship looks nice.

And what about the bridges? Do these have the appropriate temporal bridges? And will the Jem ship have the new Jem interior? Yes, questions. :)

Why 2 copies of FAW3? Don't you have Reciprocity from the Phantom Intel Escort?

"Special Introductory Pricing Discount! From July 18th at 8am PT to July 22nd at 10am PT, you can get these ships for 2400 ZEN each when purchased individually, or in a bundle with all four ships and a 50% off T6 Ship Coupon for the price of 6400 ZEN! Thereafter, they will return to their normal pricing at 3000 ZEN when purchased individually, or 8000 ZEN for the Bundle."

So, unless you posses a '50% off T6 Ship Coupon', there's essentially no discount on the bundle?! Yes, individual ships appear to get discounted, for a while, to 2,400 Zen (as per usual). But not for the entire bundle, it seems?

There are always ways around things, but they come at a cost (like having to slot another Trait, or using doffs, etc). I would have simply preferred 2x Lt. Cmdr seats, instead of taking a 'temporal step' backwards, to station layouts of 3 years ago.

I read that as you GET a 50% off coupon with the bundle, to get another T6 ship of your choice for 1500 zen.

You will be able to fly three of the four ships for a Character of any Faction. No Klingon for Federation or Fed aligned and no Federation for KDF or KDF aligned.

If you buy the Bundle after the Sale it will be 8000 Zen for the Bundle, which fits in with their recent Bundle prices of 4000 for their two ship Bundles.

The Sale price of 6400 for four ships and a 50% off Coupon is a very good price indeed.

We do seen to be in a cycle of non-Fleet grade ship releases (except Promotions, Lockbox, and Event). Probably why they let us get so many FSMs with the Tier 6 Reputation addition.
