Scalpers take units out of a limited pool. Buying promo packs for resale increases the number of units in the pool

Economics hard, but seriously, try to vaguely understand what the **** you're talking about.

Rare? Yes. But is this something that is actually going to be in demand? I wonder.

    - The prevailing opinion of most is that these ships are ugly. Only one is a hero ship (albeit in one episode? Two?), and not one any sizable group ever cared about.

    - They turn like bricks, a quality universally disliked.

    - Essentially big, ugly, T6 carriers with some extra weapons, and a lance you'll almost never be able to aim except in PVE, where it isn't even needed.

They'll be expensive on "Day One", I'm sure, but will anyone ultimately care long-term though? Unlike the other R&D promos, these ships aren't meta-changing like the Annorax, or much demanded, like the TOS ships.

It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out. Probably like the Voth Bulwark: a useless status symbol coveted for no reason other than rarity.

So long as I can get the J, without having to deal with the scaplers, I'll be happy.

Since these are not C-Store / Lobi / Event ships, that's what's going to happen.

I'll find some way to avoid appeasing the comic book guys.

I can already picture them licking their lips in anticipation of dangling THAT particular carrot in front of us peons, like they did during the last RD promo. >_>

I wonder too, and for the same reasons you do. But it's hard to judge what people will do.

I for one will ignore them, except for flying my connie up next to one. I already look tiny in ESD orbit, I'll be a like a shuttle compared to one of these.

It's easy to predict. Promo Ships are always expensive. They will be even more so if you're looking to buy it day 1 or 2, or something like that. That's when you sell it for the highest possible profit when the madness is the strongest.

This much is obvious and not in question.

I wonder if there is going to be a demand beyond collectors of rarities. I'm not interested personally, but I am curious what "the people" will think of this class of ships.

I want to get excited about these, but pet AI is still terrible. Depending on how prices go, I might get the Klingon version for my Ferasan.

Carriers have their fans so I have no doubt they will be popular. This isn't just a carrier, it's a full temporal ship, partial cruiser, as well.

Mobility is literally it's only weakness.

And no it does have a strong tactical focus, that the join of the fleet that backs it up.

As much as i like the ships (and the fact they have 2 hangar bays) i loathe how they are introducing them. Would much rather pay directly for them, then the stupid rng. I'm out on this one, can't justify the money for it.

Well now there is no way I will ever get a Tier IV reward from the Terran Counterattack Phase in the Badlands if these get on there. Bad enough when Scimitars or Vengeances are in there. :)

One of the ship designers swears they've been tested on maps like that at full size.

However, I'll kindly point out that it may be able to physically fit itself into the trenches and corridors.....
..... but maneuvering around them with any kind of efficiency may be another matter entirely, haha.

I will have a good chuckle when I see them set stuck on everything.

Too late I guess. There are only two on the Exchange right now, one is about 200 Million more than it had been (555 Million) and the other was posted by some jerk-wad at 750 Million

While Hangar Unit AI is TRIBBLE, the thing that works for these frigates are that they are beam oriented and use BFAW. This isn't like the other Frigates that are sluggish and cannot present the DHCs / DCs / Torpedoes that many of them feature as primary weapons. The KDF BOP, Fed Calistos are very front weapon heavy units, but can't swing their weapons the right direction to save their lives. Too much reliance on narrow arc weapons and they don't maneuver like Fighters.

Here's the layout for the basic version of these ships' frigates:

    Weapons:
    1x Phaser Beam Array (Fore)
1x Phaser Dual Beam Bank (Fore)
    1x Quantum Torpedo Launcher (Fore)
    1x Phaser Beam Array (Aft)

    Abilities:
    Fire At Will 1 (R5)
    Scratch the Paint
    Channeled Deconstruction
    Torpedo: High Yield I (R5)

The KDF & Rom versions are identical, minus the disruptor and plasma variances. These frigates don't need to be highly maneuverable to present weapons. They feature wide weapon arcs and a good tactical ability, BFAW, that actually makes them useful.

If these "pets" (all 3 types) are as big to their motherships as other shuttles/fighters are to regular dread/carriers they most likely are already as big as a small cruiser/big escort and only need a console/boff/weapon layout done.

Is this a very early April Fools joke? The E-J is huge. . . They finally jumped the shark.

No, this is not an April fools Joke.

No thanks, I rather stick to my Paladin Temporal Battlecruiser. She is much nicer and smaller than the Enterprise-J is. In fact the Temporal Battlecruiser can pass off as the Enterprise-J if it weren't for a few design issues.

Yeah, until now the Recluse was the only real worthwhile Carrier if for some reason you wanted to focus on pets. The Mesh Weavers use 2xDBB and a torp fore with a rear array, and FAW, APB, and Evasive Maneuvers for abilities but I'd say these are a close second.
