People are being greedy when they are asking 1.5 billion+ for a butt ugly ship. You can sell the Enterprise-J for 900 million and still make a profit.
False. At a going rate of ~16M per pack, with the typical number of packs required being in the hundreds, people, in fact, will generally lose money even at 1.5B.
then whomever gets one from a single box, I'll be gladly giving them roughly 20 mill.

I was talking about energy credits not real money though. Lockboxes were never designed so people can make a quick buck off them.
Wow so every promo I open 2-3 of the packs to try my luck, get a bit of lobi.
I bought 2 packs and won the ship on the second won! I am a winner!
Good for you! You are one of the lucky ones who won on round two. Some people will have to buy hundreds of boxes before they got their Enterprise-J Ship.
People who don't know anything about the space economy usually have strange ideas about prices and stuff.
It all makes sense though once you learn about it.
Unfortunately people who are ignorant about it sometimes get upset about it, so there is needless suffering.
One more example of why education is the silver bullet.
Then there's crazy people...
Do you know what crazy? Spending hundreds of REAL DOLLARS of getting a virtual ship they may never have. I will never understand people who waste thousands of dollars on lockboxes. People can actually get themselves a brand new car with the amount of money their spending on lockboxes.
I was online for 3 hours after the patch yesterday and within that timeframe witnessed more winner announcement of the current promo than I seem to have witness for the 23c promo for it’s entire duration. Not that I mind it, the more peeps to open those packs the better for everybody.
Are those 26c ships really that popular or did cryptic interfere with drop rates to influence the economy?

Yeah, you can actually a profit for anything under 1.2 billion credits. The most expensive ship on the exchange goes for 750 million ship. You can get yourself several T6 connies for 600 million credits and still have plenty left over. There is no reason for people to be greedy.
Where is this T6 Connie for 600M? I imagine that did not last long.
Do you not know how to use the exchange? People are still selling 23rd Century Tier 6 Dreadnoughts for 350,00,000 million credits.

23c Dread are from current lock box. -> 300-350M EC
23c Kelvine Timeline Connies are from infinity lock box. -> I dont know the exact price but expect it to be similar or below.
23c Promo Connies are from infinity promo packs -> roughly 1,5M EC

The ship seems to be going for over 1.5 billion now. Some people are even asking for a flat out 300+ keys.
Some people are asking for more than 1.5 billion EC credits.
They'd be jumping out of a 50th story window, cutting their own throats on the way down, if they only got 1-1.5 billion.....swearing and cussing as they do so.
with me video taping the whole thing

Hence why I call them "Comic Book Guy Wanabes"
Greedy little buggers who profit over others' misery....I outta make a Rockefeller approved rubber stamp or something for their foreheads.
As for the J, I think it's gorgeous.
In the Star Trek Universe we called them the "Ferengi."
I wouldn't mind the Enterprise-J design if she weren't so big. The Enterprise-J looks like a flying saucer mix with an Egyptian pyramid.

Not every car is a wish-fulfillment, however.
There are people that spend 100 times as much money on their car as I ever did,I doubt they do it because they really get any better from A to B then I do with my car. There are watches that costs thousands of dollars, and yet in the end they still fulfill their primary purpose just as well as a 10 $ watch. Trying to rationalize luxury items is a pointless endeavour.

Judging by the number of KT Dreadnoughts I see on a frequent basis, and the number of Universe class ships I saw last night/this morning, players LOVE huge ships.
Which is probably why the Nova class remains forgotten.
Yea this could really be it. Perhaps it’s even more of an age or adult thingy. When I was a child huge starships fascinated me the most. Later on it became more small ones but with at least a bit of a realistic tone attached to it.
I also would not give up hope on that sci ship you are so fond of. They demonstrated that they are eager to release everything in tier 6. I bet it’s just a matter of time.

I've already said how im not a fan of the Universe class in the 1st place but needing to down scale it to make it work as a playable ship makes it even worse its just a ugly design and watching 1 fly around is awful
Just seen a couple of Ent-Js at ESD, along with the Rommie equivalent....my God they're huge, they make literally everything else that was floating about look fun-sized.
I've always been a fan of the bigger ships as far as things like the Gal-X, Sovvy, Oddy go, but I couldn't even imagine trying to fly one of those with any degree of success.
Why are they even skipping G, H, I, and going straight for the J just because it is known already?
I have thought about the fact that the flagship Sojourner might be the G but it hasn't really been said so far.
And before you tell me about canon don't forget the F wasn't even canon.
To be honest, the future can't have been too kind to the G, H and I. None of them could be in service for a great length of time.
I mean, granted we don't know exactly when the Universe class was built, but it does seem like 'J' is quite a jump in a not terribly great length of time.
Being a crewman aboard any ship named "Enterprise" is hazardous to one's health as they take on Starfleet's big problems. Now, let us remove any hats in respect!
NCC-1701 No bloody, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J... (2245-2285) - Lost in combat
1701A (2286-2293) - Decommissioned
1701B (2293-?) - Unk
1701C (?-2344) - Lost in combat
1701D (2361-2371) - Lost to negligent driving as a result of combat
1701E (2372-2408 in STO) - Lost in combat
1701F (?-Currently active in STO) - Still tickin'
1701G, H, I - Unknown service times, fates
1701J - (2500's) Also unknown service times, fate, other than she's 26th cent.
So, we naturally don't know what happens with Shon's Ent-F, but we're in 2410 now. Ent-J is 26th cent / 2500's. As you said, that is some serious attrition going on. It's only 90 years from the game's 2410 to the 26th century, and Starfleet loses one way or another 4 ships named Enterprise.
"Get assigned to the Enterprise!" they said.
"It'll be big fun!" they said.
Well I opened the twelve packs I allotted myself and didn't get the J and since I'm not a Ferengi I'll never make the EC to get one off the exchange. I'm saddened really. The J is huge and ugly. Anyone who knows me in game knows I really love big ugly Starfleet ships especially kitbashes. Oh well.
STO: Where men are men and the women probably are too.
I support the Star Trek Battles channel.

A ship's service life has been increasing over time in history, today for example it's 50 years for one of the big carriers. So this is a terrible record, these ships are little more than FTM fads.
They weren't intended to be that way originally. I don't know where you got your dates, but the 40 year span for the original Enterprise indicates that and I recall reading where the total lifespan for a Connie class ship was expected (with refits of course) to last 100 years. After the TOS ended, this went out the window as every new Star Trek just had to have their own ship.
I spent all my zen on dilithium for the pheonix packs trying to get the single epic i need for the Kobali ship and failed again. Just finished converting a little dilithium and had enough for a single R&D pack and I got the ship first try Not got around to joining the trade channel yet, I will probably trade it though so I can get some lesser T6 ships for my alts or some fleet ship modules for my fleet prize bank.

Keys? RnD boxes? EC and keys?
I'd like to know what currency to accrue before I spent any money.

Sure they are big, but far smaller then I have anticipated they would be. Should the Universe not be faaaaar bigger as it is now?

It was lost in 2048 in Fluidic Space.
It should be noted, this is STO lore and never spoken of in movies or on TV.
you just have mega rare luck, that's it.
