I just ignored him considering Ive been on these forums for years and never once seen the devs say that or anyone ever linking it/referencing it before now
It's funny, I created a (much shorter lived) version of this very same thread over three years ago, and even then no one posted a link to a dev specifically saying CBS had included the Excalibur in their "no endgame Connie" decision. You'd think they would have if such a statement actually was made, since it would have been more recent ...
Shes TMP era, and quite a bit older than the Excelsior, which people whine about being too old for a t6 version(which we got). The Excalibur is newer than the Galaxy Class, so a non-issue.
The Miranda uses connie refit parts, it's safe to assume it is the same age. Wether it's a new class or a refit of existing TOS style ships we don't know, but we have no basis to determine wether or not any ship is older or newer.

Going by canon, the Miranda is definately newer than the Constitution. It's implied that the Miranda succeeded the Constitution in most ways, and where a larger ship was needed, the Excelsior took the cake. Constitution was slowly but steadily being phased out by the time we got introduced to the Miranda.

How is this implied? The Excelsior taking over for the Constitution I won't argue with, that's obvious. But where do you get the Miranda taking over for the Constitution from?

Since this is an EXCALIBUR thread I was gonna let it drop but, given that the Reliant uses the same warp nacelle as the Refit Enterprise, and we have an exact date that (mark IV iirc) drive came into service, we can tell how old the Miranda is to within a few years :P

Which "exact date that (mark IV iirc) drive came into service" are you refering to?
And what exactly makes you think the Miranda hasn't been updated with new tech just as the Constitution was?

The 1701 was the "test bed" for that technology i believe. So either the Miranda class existed before the 1701s upgrade or she evolved from the upgrade. Now if u look at the way sfc designs things. They like pairs. Galaxy / nebula , connie / miranda, nova / soverigen.

^this. The Constitution Refit was the first vessel to try out the new warp drive system, and get it working right.
Also, entirely unrelated, I really hate calling it the Constituion refit as the Enterprise was the only one to make it home, thus it really should have been remembered as the Enterprise Class.
Now that we've got that out of the way, how about we return to talkin Excaliburs?
I was thinking, that instead of Gimmick BOFF Seating, or a whoopie woo console, maybe give it a built in AUX power boost.
The Excalibur class is well-suited for cargo or transport missions. Its expansive cargo holds make it indispensable to Starfleet as a vessel used to resupply planets, space stations, and other starships. The power systems make it possible to run industrial replicators indefinitely, making this class the ideal choice for evacuation and mercy missions.
Given the direct quote here we know she's got power to spare for hauling cargo or running industrial replicators, so theres a good reason to give her a boost there. For a trait, what about something that increases efficiency or speed of power transfers from aux to other systems?
It would be nice to have the Cough T6 Connie type Cough ... as long as i can outfit it with subspace weapons
where the hell did that come from?? Also this is about the Excalibur, not connie. I realize oh so many have a really really really hard time wrapping their mind around this concept but its true... the two ships are NOT THE SAME despite sharing stats in STO and a basic visual theme, also shared with the Ambassador, Galaxy, and other classes.
The Miranda, NX and TOS Connie are not the same ship but share pretty much the same stats since they're all t1

Instead of discussing the probability or merits of a T6 Excalibur coming, why don't we steer the discussion towards what the new T6 variant should look like? Any ideas?

This is kinda why Ive been tryin to throw out suggestions on how a t6 Excalibur might actually function in game mechanics, but for your suggestion...
Like umm... the Excalibur? You use t2 ships for such a short time I dont really think it needs/merits the gods awful 2409 nacelle makeover.

True, but a T6 would still have a new variant, as cryptic had never released a new T6 without a new model (excluding spec variants of the strike ship and that other ship).
For me, i think Hestia style nacelles could look nice (just the upper two nacelles, not all four). And since all the saucers available are circular maybe a wedge shaped saucer for some extra options ... this is harder than I thought it would be, lol, the Excalibur is already almost perfect on its own.
Repurposing advances made with the Federation's highly respected Arbiter Battle Cruiser development program, the Excalibur-Class is the first of three new 'Logistical" cruisers designed to better serve the needs of Starfleet in peacetime operations. An able cargo carrier in even the most dangerous sectors, the Excalibur brings aid and comfort to the darkest corners of the Federation. A strong secondary emphasis on science capabilities ensures the Excalibur has fighting chance to discover crucial solutions when anomalies and mysteries loom. If you are ready to boldly go, contact your admiralty representative concerning fresh opportunities to serve aboard the Excalibur class.
Achieving Mastery Level 5 with the Excalibur grants a unique ship skill:
"Did you say 'little', Sir?" -- Activating a Tactical or Pilot skill gives you a +5% defense, projectile damage, and turn rate bonus for 10 seconds (stacks up to 4 times).
The Excalibur-class comes with a unique "Heavy Support Replicators" console. Able to provide relief and supplies to entire colonies, the Excalibur can replicate needed commodities at a discount and is able to produce and deploy a variety of resources with remarkable speed in battle. The additional power handling capacity provides a passive bonus to all energy weapon damage when in combat. This console may be equipped on any Federation Logistics Cruiser.
[Console - Universal - Heavy Support Replicators]
+7% directed energy weapon damage (all types)
+7% torpedo recharge speed
Price to replicate Commodities reduced by 15%
+70% recharge speed for consumables and dropped "platform" abilities
[Console - Universal - Heavy Support Replicators]
+5 power to ALL subsystems
Price to replicate Commodities reduced by 15%
+75% recharge speed for consumables and dropped "platform" abilities
Interesting ideas, but to be a "light" cruiser it can't have 8 weapon slots. make it 4/3 or 3/4 or even 2/5 and call it a mine-layer

Yeah I wrestled with weapon slots, but in the end I opted to basically deliberately de-fang an Arbiter with less tactical focus in the Boffs/Consoles. "Federation Battle Cruiser" pattern is where the majority of those stats come from and has generally be scaled as a sort of mid-point between cruisers and escorts (which seemed about right for the Excaliber hull).
I considered temporal seating, but I think it flows better without the all the latest gee-gaws, and the Ship Trait is designed to capitalize on the dual low-rank pilot slots. I want to see it IN GAME, not BEST-IN-GAME .
[Console - Universal - Heavy Support Replicators] +5 power to ALL subsystems

I would think that kind of all-aspect power bump is just over top for universal consoles...
p.s. nice pics!
TY, went out and shot a few just for the presentation.

~for the console, and then went with pilots seating to reinforce that it's a sprightly little thing compared to the Federation's fascination with super-cruisers.

Well, a T6 is a T6 so it has to have endgame firepower/functionality. And because it does NOT have the ability to mount dual cannons I think it'll actually present some unique armament challenges and builds. I would consider scripting another one of its family as a near cousin, setting up that ship as a 3/5 minelayer. Which could be intriguing actually with the right Mastery benefits package and a good mine-oriented ship trait. There's quite a few torpedo ship traits that oculd be iterated into mine versions... Hmmm... May need more pictures.
Honestly, like I said before I'd be happy with no gimmick seating, and a more Eng/Sci focus for it, but Im not sure it'd sell well like that. Everybody has to have their stupid gimmick seating or "it suXX0rZ". I swapped for Temporal Spec to go with the current flow of the expansion / future proof arc.
Drop the boost on the console then, I haven't put up anything with stats because I'm not a min/max munchkin and happily kill everything with my mkXII gear in the green-purple range. But given the Excalibur's fluff text about having skads of power I think its **c-store goodie** should reflect that.
I like things that encourage energy/torp hybrids too, so I added a small amount of torpedo recharge rate and tuned some other bonuses down. Looking yummy to me, but hopefully not implausible.
I would think that kind of all-aspect power bump is just over top for universal consoles...
considering the supplemental subsystems console off the yamato, kolasi and kara only gives +2? not really, because +2 power is garbage, even if it is to all systems
