Co-worker just told me as I was discussing this with him that maybe they can make the connie, its just since the game is F2P now that maybe PWE doesn't want to pay some insane licensing fee that CBS is asking for which is why the question has purposely not been revisited. Now this right here is just speculation, but I thought it was note worthy.

    That's not how it works.

Everything that happens in STO (including Iconians), gets greenlighted by CBS Studios. Whether it's a rubber stamp or a signature, absolutely everything falls under purview of CBS Studios. They are the licensor, Cryptic/PWE is the licensee. If CBS Studios says 'jump', Cryptic's only response is to ask, 'how high?'

CBS Studios gives them a certain degree of autonamy, sure. But they can insert themselves for any reason or no reason at all and say this must be changed.

This is because they own the intellectual property and they don't have to follow any sort of logical reasoning behind why this or why that, anymore than I have to explain to my neighbors why I decided to paint my house blue instead of leaving it red.

I don't care if my house has historical precedent of being red. If I own the house, I can color it whatever color I decide. My neighbors can mail me pictures of my house appearing red in the 1960's and how I'm ruining my house by refusing to keep it red, and how I obviously hate my house by painting it blue.

Their opinion doesn't matter to me, and if I want my house to be blue, hey... it's going to be blue.

Not this again. If the people who hold the rights to Star Trek say no, then STO won't be getting it. Deal with it.

The really ugly truth isn't that people at PWE or Cryptic don't play STO. The ugly truth is that they play the game, but most of them aren't very good at it.

For all the errors in the game blamed upon the devs for clearly not playing the game... it's more easily attributed to the fact they're the same bad players that make me groan, and much of their decision making is based on the unfortunate reality a lot of them just suck at the game to begin with.

Watching Smirk play STO on a Livestream makes me want to pull my hair out over all the mistakes he makes and time he wastes, but he is way more in the know about what goes on behind-the-scenes, he's just forced to obey a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

He's not vague and oblivious on the forums because he's naturally that way. He's vague and oblivious because of a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Then why was Dan's quote still listed in the FCT? If the answer is a definate NO, they would have removed what Dan said as it would have been considered irreverent information. Don't you agree?

So no, I still don't have an answer. Smirk may know more than me, but you don't know any more than me at this point. You are HOPING I'm wrong. Just read back how you word your messages :)

We still have crazy people on the forums. However, from what I've seen most of them have moved to Reddit or 4chan with their stupid conspiracy theories and short-sighted attempts to get any productive dialogue underway.

It's actually kind of amusing what they say about me in those other forums.

Not just Smirk and Trendy. I mean actual STO Devs from Cryptic. I'm not going to name names, but they know who they are. They're just not very good at this game at all.

Hell, I was throwing heals on Branflakes (I drop his name since he's no longer working for PWE) in some random Crystalline Catastrophe mission because he decided to be Billy Badass and fire at the Crystalline Entity in his andorian escort until my heals were on cooldown and he got murdered by a swarm of shards.

The sad truth is being a really awesome video game designer or developer doesn't necessarily translate to being a really good player.

There was that guy, there was the one who claimed he was the new EP after Dan left the first time, then there was the one who went so far as to photoshop together a tweet from Van Citters. I suppose to make it look like he'd given the OK? I'm not sure what he thought he'd accomplish with that one, thankfully Bran shot it down pretty quick.

This reminds me a lot of an old fleetmate who had disrputor, phaser, and tet tac consoles while using polaron beam arrays could not understand why he wasnt doing the same amount of damage as the rest of us in an STF. He was dead serious too.

You know what might put an end to these threads? The answer to one simple question:

    WHY?

I don't want to hear, "Because CBS says so." I want to hear WHY CBS says so. For what reason? As has been mentioned, they would make money with it, so it's not anything like that. There's already a TON of stuff in this game that breaks immersion and canon, so it's not that. I don't see it interfering with JJTrek, since the setting and the ship are both completely different, so I doubt it's that.

    This leaves the question, "WHY?"

If they answer this one question, it might end all these threads.

You are assuming that cryptic are permitted to give that answer or even know it.

I think if you wanted to know why cbs said no, you'd have to ask cbs directly. (and even then I doubt you would get an answer)

Either way though the "why" isn't actually that important. If it's a no because it conflicts with another licencing agreement in regards to the jj'verse, or it's a no because they just plain don't want it, at the end of the day it's still a no.
It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

I can say the only person from Cryptic I've knowingly played with who is not bad is JHeinig.

But when I see a lot of... questionable... decisions made with STO, and the response from players is, "Do they even play their own game?" I die a little on the inside because I know the answer is, "Yes, they do. They just aren't very good at it. That's why these decisions are made."

I'm guessing he's either asleep or on his way to San Francisco. I'm more curious about when we'll get a 'Report Thread to Moderators' button like this website exists in the year 2014.

I'm not opening a ticket for forum support on PWE's website. That's just dumb.

Also, I don't mind calling Askray out on being a bad player, either. Since he's a volunteer.

He's one of those players who spends money on the C-store and expects X amount of winning directly related to his c-store purchase.

He's also been in an STF with me where he forgot to install an engine.

I'm serious, just because people work/volunteer for PWE/Cryptic doesn't mean these are Nobel prize laureates behind their keyboards.

Why can't we have an endgame Connie?

    Because CBS said so.

    Why did they say so?

Because that's what they said. Yes, it's a tautology. It's also all the explanation you're entitled to, and all that you should need. It's their property, and they no more need to explain to you why they made that choice than I need to explain to you why we painted my son's room in the colors we chose.

    As for the thread:

That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons, even Threads may die...

It's pretty funny how people think "CBS said no" is some sort of quality statement. A claim to stop an action used against a claim to stop an action, both of which that have existed since the games creation and will supposedly never dissapear. The chances of stopping people from wanting to use the first two Enterprises are lower than the chances of CBS buckling.

No one said its a quality statement... But it IS their IP, and as such, they can say "no", and then it's a no-go.

Bickering about it, isn't going to change that.

Ok... who keeps doing the voodoo on endgame Connie subject? Because I've seen this subject beaten to death, rezzed, liquified, turned into mashed potatoes, liquified again, mashed potatoes again, ground into dust, mashed potatoes... again...

We've had an answer for years now. Just because endgame moved up to T6 doesn't mean we get a T6 Connie as "Its not T5". Its Endgame. And we all know the answer. So PLEASE... let this horse rest and stop rezzing it to beat it to a pulp again? Think of the dead horse! Its cruelty to dead subjects!

When will people understand the meaning of the words Design Lineage!

    Let me spell it out..

    Design

a plan or drawing produced to show the look and function or workings of a building, garment, or other object before it is built or made.

    Lineage
lineal descent from an ancestor; ancestry or pedigree.

The 2 nacelle and saucer on neck/s over engineering hull cruiser "family" is the higher tier Connies! Just the same as Nebula is in the Miranda design family.

looking so hard to find the differences to whine about so often blinds people to what is also the same!

Other alien races have different design aesthetics so they don't feel the need to change the design every few years.

I was expecting you to change the goal posts like you usually do but you also dropped some flat out misinformation. Please tell me about the thousands of ship classes from post TMP. Or if you meant thousands of ships then the real numbers of TMP era ships we saw were inconsequential because all that mattered was that they existed. There were also far more than three lone ships still serving from the TMP era.

CBS isn't selling you a "car". They are refusing to sell you a "car". If a business chooses not to sell something they need no better reason than they don't want to sell it.

That IS what business is about after all.

    THIS.

I can't believe people cannot get this through their thick head. CBS says no. They do not want to allow any Constitution other than the T1 that is currently in the game.

No one is entitled to any other explanation.
