Yup we've been told out right many many times... I get that and heard you and everyone else the first time. But when has cryptic ever come back and said "Hey guys its the end of 2014, and we asked CBS and they said no again"... That one statement from them would put an end to most (not all but most) of these threads.. I've worked at a movie studio for a long time, mine might be CBS, but with Warner and Universal and even Disney, things do change and never stay the same. Even if the answer is still NO, an updated "NO" would go a long way with people.

By that logic then we should have cryptic going back to CBS every year or so (metaphorical cap in hand) to ask can we please have our ship now please, just so they can give us an (unnecessary) update about the Connie status.

Yes, I'm sure that would do wonders for their business relationship with CBS.
It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

You make it sound like asking yearly is making them go to CBS uphill both ways in 5 feet of snow..
Thats not how it works in the industry. But please feel free to share you think business relationships work. Look I don't know you or anything about you. But Im here in an industry I know. Im fairly sure it wont strain relations by getting an update to a policy or question.

i still believe the main reason there isn't a T5 connie, is because quite a few players would buy one, and never buy anything else.

also, this horse is so dead, there isn't even a horse left, only its memory, please let it rest.

Well like I said before, if you have some connections that you can use to get the information you want then use them, but the bottom line is until the mods say otherwise keep it off the forum.

I've got low friends in high places and a few owe me favors. I don't have anyway of sending a message to John Van Citters personally, so Im going to rely on one of them to get my question delivered. Hey man, you just never know till you try. I've done crazier stuff than this and at times have had positive outcomes so you just never really know. Here is hoping for the best.

This used to come up in the old threads every now and then. It's a flattering prospect but the other 80% of canon ships at end game don't stop people from buying other ships and together they represent a bigger threat to ship sales than the Connie or its refit.

Ask for the refit plz, and good luck, JVC has been pestered several times for it and he never caved. He even made fun of a guy who made the last Connie thread and then made some passive aggressive comments about never reading the comments being a rule for the Internet. That guy was banned and so were Connie threads.

    But hey!

    We have even more ancient:

    ENT era Xindi Escorts
    ENT era Narcine Carrier
    ENT era Vulcan D'Kyr
    ENT era Andorian Escorts
    ... All at endgame!

We've also got Starfleet, KDF, Romulan captains that fly in non-faction ships!

And the best yet? You can fly Species 8472 Bioships :D

But don't you dare ask about endgame Connies and Mirandas! Those ships are immersion breaking!

Except what people don't seem to accept even though it's clearly all plastered through canon, Starfleet loves to build bigger and better ships...most races and factions aren't like this...one of the biggest opposites is the Klingons.

Lets compare from TOS and TMP era ships.

The Feds basically well...the only ships in use throughout TNG, DS9, and VOY were the Miranda and the Excelsior.

But let's look at the Klingons...they never had many ships in canon but half their fleet pretty much was ships based on TOS/TMP ships...more depending on if you want to consider ENT canon. I mean if you consider ENT canon then the BoP is really old.

Starfleet is constantly evolving...I mean the only prominent ship was the Excelsior and that was if they wanted to take the time to upgrade it.

Why can't people understand it's in Starfleets...even humans nature to want to move onto bigger and better things? You don't see us producing old things do you? If we do base something off something old it's generally heavily modified and upgraded.

Best I can do is play hard mode with my T1 Connie...at L50. (now 51+)

Yeah I would buy one too in a hot second. But TPTB said no, so I roll with I can. Heck I am happy that ST mmo is still alive. :D

LMAO! Some nobody is going to ask about getting an endgame Connie. How cute.

You don't think Cryptic realizes how much money they could make off of an endgame Connie and has asked CBS about it? And probably more than once? CBS said no. Trust me, your imaginary contacts aren't going to get a different response.

You seem to want to work against this a lot, even to the point of making obnoxious insults. I may be a nobody, but I've got friends who are somebody. What do you have? Feel free to respond, everyone else is reading.

The only ship from the TMP era that's officially retired is the Soyuz class, which was a specialized version of a ship still in service. Star Fleet has no qualms about using old ships and refitting them. The ship trend post TNG was to make smaller ships too.

You have diddly squat. What I have is a much better grasp than you of what the word "no" means and a far, far better grasp of picking ones battles on what will and what won't change here. There is a reason these endgame Connie threads aren't allowed.

I have "diddy squat".. And what source or fact can you use to prove this? You don't know me or anything about me. You are grasping for straws because you want this to be a definate NO for some inane reason. In this industry, final words change quite often. If you ever worked in it you'd know. The only thing I see from you is you working really really hard to try to make this not happen. Its a good thing I'm not bound by your warped way of thinking (pun intended)

On the contrary. Like a million other players here, I would like nothing more than to buy an endgame Connie. Cryptic/PWE would love to have all the money they would make from being able to sell one to all of us. CBS said no to it. People have asked about it for years, and the answer has always come back as no. The question has been asked and answered so many times that the topic was added to the F.C.T. explaining the subject and why new threads about it aren't allowed. That's not grasping at straws, that's accepting reality. If you or your imaginary contacts in high places could change it, you'd have done it a long time ago already. So yeah, you have diddly squat.

So to sum up your paragraph of boring, No was said and it thats how it will be forever until the end of time. Got it. You also have no idea how it works around here either. No doesn't mean no forever. No means no for right now until we change our minds.

You know if you want to private message me I'll send you my studio address and you can email me there.. we can talk about how I dont have diddly squat and how much I'm a nobody.

It doesn't matter what 'tier' we request for a constitution class ship. Sadly the answer has always been the same: CBS said no endgame constitution class ship. This means what we already have is all we'll get.

But I would like to point out one simple fact: When responding to requests in their 'Ask Cryptic' blogs (they stopped doing those blogs a long time ago), their answer was always "Never say never", and yet every time they respond to the T5 connie requests, if ever, it's always been a flat out "No. Never gonna happen.". Then again they stopped saying "Never say never" when they ended the 'Ask Cryptic' blogs. At least I haven't seen them say it for a long long time. :(

When they ended the 'Ask Cryptic' blogs they just seemed to stop discussing possible future content/changes.

They don't communicate with us as much as they use to.

Captain Smirk and Trendy are great, but things haven't been the same with Cryptic since Brandon left the conn. :(

It is amazing how many people don't understand this simple concept. Now if the US Navy put Anti-Aircraft guns on Civil War Steamships, then I would support the idea of an endgame Constitution. However, Starfleet is a human-centric organization so human ideals are Starfleet ideals. Look at the car industry, each model has to come out with a new version each year even if there is not much improvement.

I don't want or need your personal info, thanks. But hey if you want to delude yourself more power to you. Go ahead and ping your imaginary pals and get CBS to change their mind on the subject tomorrow. We'll wait. :) Can we expect a Dev blog about it before the weekend?

Well you seem to want to doubt me. I thought some proof might be in order. But you don't want that either. The record reflects how unreasonable you are.

Also its the holiday. People are heading off for vacation for thanksgiving. Realistically if I get an answer back it wouldn't be until After thanksgiving or after new years.

I originally was annoyed at your response, but now I just feel sorry for you that you have to tell yourself no one can actually know anyone important because you yourself don't. Roll your eyes all you want, but that is how you are being read.

    End Game Constitution Class ship

The answer to the T5 connie ship has been a no for 4 years and that answer comes from CBS. As such, there will not be a T5 constitution class ship in STO. This also means that any version of the ship will not be available as an End game ship. Exert from a Q&A with DStahl & from the livestream by Smirk -

Q: (thmichael) Are you going to implement the Ambassador Class at some point? And would it be possible to implement the Old Constitution Class for higher ranks?

Dstahl: Yes. The Ambassador class is coming in 2013. CBS is still pretty adamant about the Old Connie not being an end game ship, but you never know what can happen as time rolls by.
A: I personally think it is more of a forum issue right now because there are so many threads that pop up. Not going to come into the game I think ever! The T5 Connie, it was something that used to drive Branflakes insane, he would make me delete those threads, hide them. It doesn’t bother me that much. I would love something along the lines of like the Exeter class. I would love to have a traditional Connie with a 1960’s kind of bussard collector on the nacelles, something that is really big and powerful, like if you gave the regular constitution class a "grow mushroom" from Mario Bros and it just got big and super OP. I would love that but it’s not going to happen. There will not be a T5 Connie.

...here's the relevant post from the FCT thread. While times may have changed, I doubt we'll see a T6 Connie, as that would be the new endgame. At the same time, the company is currently interpreting T5-U as endgame as well, and all C-Store T5 ships have the option of using an Upgrade Token... which kills the possibility of a T5 version as well. The best we can hope for is a T4 version, since that would not be endgame, or some form of "tribute" ship that had some aesthetic similarities but could not use the other Connie skins.

Side note: Hey Askray, you should "Exert" your ability to edit your post to make the "Excerpt" from from a Q&A with DStahl & from the livestream by Smirk make more sense. Funny, I hadn't noticed that in all the time that thread has been there... and I swear I've quoted it before. Ah well. :)
