I am having the same issue with STO. I can play the biggest, most intensive games on max settings, like dragon age inquisition on max settings with no issues. STO however keeps crashing every now and then. I notice there's a pixel loader issue when loading some STO maps before it crashes. I have done diagnostics, check error codes (which show only error codes with STO and nothing else), and half a dozen other tools.
For the life of me, I can't find the error outside of STO so it has to be something off with STO's programming and seems the issue over the years comes and goes for various players.
Not hardware
Only crashes in STO according my pc's crash reports
other much more intensive games no issues, just STO
Drivers and software are all up to date
Crashes after a while only in certain zones, some seem to be relatively fine
Just got a new PC, same issue. Crashing before Delta rising screen.
Drivers are up to date... only game with a issue is STO.
Can't get into the game at all now.

This is unusual, okay, can you make a new thread with the crash data and your graphic cards?
I went in and launched the game directly from the client in Program files, working great again. I still need to see why that is, just wild guess is ARC is not letting go of the drivers at the right time so STO and ARC are fighting over priorty so we get these errors.
I'm getting the same issue, random crashes with no warning starting with low frequency increasing to several an hour now. 1 in 3 crashes my pc so hard I have to do a hard reset. Everything is updated etc etc.
Frustrated because I don't normally have a great deal of time to sink on the game and when I do (now) it's borked...

Kelgarr, I've noticed the same thing about ARC and I think you are correct. But even before the mandatory ARC, after the launch of every new season, I and many other players were locked out from STO (for 4-10 days), starting from about Season 7 Romulan. Every time, STO would tell us the problem is on our end (but STO worked great the day before the launch, the players were not changing settings, and no other game or function -- outside of PWE -- has ever demonstrated such a similar issue) and Cryptic would finally tweak it enough to let about 80 percent of the players in. Too bad for the rest.
I think you are onto the problem, Kelgarr. I think we've got conflicting bugs in both ARC and STO. Where the two systems, combined, lock up the drivers.
this was an issue on neverwinter and its because they made the game so that it was compatible with directx 11 and bascially you click the engage or start button it goes to load up the game gets to the star trek whatever the name of the expansion screen is loads up the materials file then just crashes to desktop. with neverwinter it had something to do with games gameprefs.pref file. i will copy and paste the text in said file here is the copied text:
PrefEntry GfxSettings.Fullscreen 0
PrefEntry Locale 0
PrefEntry SystemSpecs.atiCrossfireGPUCount 0
PrefEntry SystemSpecs.audioDriverName DirectSound
PrefEntry SystemSpecs.audioDriverOutput "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)"
PrefEntry SystemSpecs.isDx11Enabled 1
PrefEntry SystemSpecs.isDx9ExEnabled 1
that there tells me that both dx9 and dx11 are enabled i've tried changing the 1 to a zero but alas it reverts back to the original file after i click on save. so i dont know what else to do as the game continues to crash at the load screen.

Sometimes it crashes now on the loading screens just before the character screen.
Other times it load the character screen but crashes the second you click a character.
The only thing different on my end is that there was an NVIDIA update but I am pretty sure it wasn't a driver update and just their software
