So I've kept trying and with this new patch, I at least get to the DR loading screen. I did get to that last time, but only for a split second. Now I'm on it for about fifteen seconds. Now, maybe certain models of computers are having this issue, I wouldn't know. All I can tell you about this computer is that it's got Windows 7, Intel Core vPro (?), and it's an EliteBook 8440p (?). Now, I don't know what any of that means, but if it's effecting my gameplay, could somebody tell me a way to fix it? I also keep getting this weird 'Fatal Error' message about some driver being disconnected... Would someone be really nice and educate the technologically-challenged person here? I'm starting to scream curses in Klingon at my computer...
The Cryptic devs are simply incompetent. They randomly create code that makes no sense and wonder why everyone in here is blasting them for not fixing this TRIBBLE. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that the devs deliberately create this glitches and bugs so that those who don't buy subscriptions can't play the game.
Someone needs to nominate Star Trek Online as the worst MMO EVER played.
I know you're venting, but this isn't a F2P issue.
I have a sub (LTS), and I still can't play on my laptop.
IMO, the devs need to open up tribble to non-gold members as well.
There's just not enough people testing before release to find all the regressions.
I was on tribble at various times before DR, at times there were maybe 10 people (unless there was a livestream). Can't form queues when there's not enough people.
Cryptic really sucks. They're too busy throwing celebration parties, taking weekend vacations and leaving the rest of us screwed in the process. Thanks for TRIBBLE the game up, Crypturd.
Yeah, that;s my new nickname for Cryptic: CRYPTURD.
It really fits the company well, for not fixing this damn launcher problem.

If it was possible I would have attached all 4 files, but here are the newest parts of them.
Oh and I could get in before the patch and it worked up until 10 hours ago. Now it crashes again.

Because Cryptic sucks. How is it that every major patch causes this launcher crash problem? Because of incompetent devs who can't stop TRIBBLE with the launcher. Worse yet? The christmas event is about to start and we're gonna get screwed out of that as well. We're already screwed out of the dilithium event, we're screwed out of the mirror invasion event.
Thanks a lot, Cryptic, for this major Frak UP.
possibilitiesare a thing of hope, sometimes it drives us toward something better
I was able to get back into game by setting the launcher to run in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) compatibility mode, don't know if that will be any help for anyone still unable to play.
Hi guys I have been getting this error since the Delta crashing patch a few weeks ago. Every time it gets to the "Delta Rising" splash screen when it loads it crashes graphics card and even my browser loses the lame graphics effects like the buttons and stuff. I have not been able to get in game
Graphics cards - Geforce 210. using windows 7. up to date with patches. I also upgraded to latest driver today on the NVidia website
I admit it is a cheap card, but the card worked perfectly fine before DR
The message is here "Fatal Error: Direct3d driver returned error code.
(DXGI_Error_device_removed) while checking sync query.
Technical Details: Sync Query 9 0x19b0d680 GetData == 0x887a0005 0 NF 601
D3d Device removed due to DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG 0x887a0006"
Some of the numbers in the sync query change each time
Also the check error thing does nothing
I have had this message on rare occasions in the past. but in the past was always fixed on restart.

Well, I have same problem as you are... The latest patch is causing my video card to become CTD... The driver of Nvidia is latest updated of 320.52 version for Gforce GT 230m on my laptop... I believe that Crytic development team may cause the scripts to force the video card driver crashed to desktop after loading the ""Delta Rising" screen... Before the patch of Delta Rising, I play well... After patch, crashing has happened a lot... I cannot play... I've reported to Crytic Development team several times... I guess they are looking into it or not...
So launcher - options - safe mode that pretty much did it for me now.
First impressions, graphics are way off, seeing alot of "white" people around, but seems to be happening to some others as well.
have switched between all 3 toons and no problems so far, going to the delta quadrant on my main toon for the first time now, keeping my fingers crossed.
Belgium
Light travels faster than sound, that is why some people appear bright untill they speak.
Nope, tried again and still no dice. I can't figure out the cause of this at all and none of the suggested fixes have worked, though they are appreciated all the same.
Oh well, looking on the bright side, I suppose it saves me spending loads of time farming for dilithium!
Oh well, looking on the bright side, I suppose it saves me spending loads of time farming for dilithium!
lol true. my carpal tunnel thanks you, cryptic!!!
the safe mode trick works for me. sadly, game looks pretty sad condition, will just go in and refine the dil. game looks possibly too fragile to play other than a quick fly around the Delta Quad or something, afraid it will crash.
will be able to refine some of my dil stockpile by the time they fix it, (if they ever do)
this is longes crash related thread i ever sow in any mmo game, and need to say sto is most unstable mmo i ever played and i tried a lot of them.
pls cryptic try harder to make game more stable.
I was able to get STO working thanks to the advice of some good friends and so I will post how I did so on here in order to help others get back in the game.
I could not get STO to start because with the release of delta rising the game would crash to desktop during the cryptic loading screen. After the a couple of patches I was able to get in game since my ship was parked above ESD, but when I tried to beam down to ESD or any other ground map, the game would crash.
One of my friends suggested reinstalling the game and running it in safe mode, so I did and the game seemed to work alright at first, but all of a sudden it would crash and then I would get one of these error messages:
Corrupt pig file detected: ./piggs/texture3.hogg:Texture_Library/Costumes/Avatars/Talaxian/M_Eyebrows_Talaxian_02_n.Wtex:
Corrupt pig file detected: ./piggs/texture3.hogg:Texture_Library/Costumes/Avatars/Talaxian/M_Hand_Talaxian_02_Spots_N.Wtex:
I showed these error messages to another friend who suggested I delete the textures and let the game redownload them so I did and then the game worked properly. So you could try this and see if it works for you too.
Just make sure that you back up the screenshots folder before reinstalling STO because that is the location where the outfits and looks that you have created for your characters and bridge officers are stored.
The parasites are all invisible, except for the cocoon that appears before the Queen parasite emerges from it, and all the guard parasites are also invisible. Locking onto, firing upon, or clicking on them or the cocoon causes the crash.
On a similar note, I purchased a Black and White Cat from the Lobi Store. It's also invisible.
I can't finish the Delta Rising mission set, until this is resolved.

DXGI its part of the DirectX11 code path, try to change the prefs file to Direct3d9, where Direct3d11 appears, its located in Perfect World Entertainment\Star Trek Online_en\Star Trek Online\Live\localdata gameprefs.pref, and try again..

does it crash anywhere else?
could be an error with a specific graphic item on that planet.
maybe your computer can't handle the fact that they're zombies, yet not zombies
I haven't been able to play any of my characters since just after Christmas '14. I got a new gaming laptop Christmas and installed STO right away. I might be able to get about 10 min every now and then, but usually it crashes while trying to load the character for the first time after logging in.
I have notice others having issues and wondering if it is a known issue that STO Tech teams are trying to fix or what.
ASUS G73S , Windows Home Premium 7.1 64 bit OS, Intel i-7 2630QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz, 12 GB Ram, nVidia GeForce GTX 460M Cuda 1.5 GB.
yup im having the same problem! when i log in in normal mode. it loads up to the character screen but its black and music. then i try in "Safe mode" then it justs crashes after the "Delta Rising" screen.
Hello folks, mind if i join you guys here? Shortly after not logging on for a few days after christmas my game stopped working too.
Crash at 20% of the CRYPTIC loading-bar.
Safe mode. Lowered graphics. (Even though i never had any graphics problems before) Files Checked. Error report supposedly sent.
I have no way to access my account and the Winter Event is ending without me having collected all the things i wanted to collect. GG PWE.
Random Crashes to Desktop here ... mostly in graphic heavy situations like STF's, sometimes also after a zone change. None of the tips here worked. Really a shame when newer titles e.g. like Dragon Age Inquisition are running flawless with the highest settings and STO is constantly crashing.
Please, dear Cryptic - make a break with monetizing STO and deliver us a playable game. Thank you.
Sheesh talk about disrespecting the players after being a subscriber since 2012 I cancelled due to ARC "Demanding" I install tracking cookies to view MY account history of payments.
Since cancelling my subscription and returning to the "Free Player Ranks" I can not even log in due to
1)Server Time Out
2)All servers are full at this time, wait time is approximately TRIBBLE minutes.
3)Server not found, please check for the correct server address or reload the program and try again.
So as a friend of mine once said, " Never unsubscribe and try to play the same game as a for free player, the developers will never let you enjoy the game as a for free player. Pay up or delete it!":(
Before the Anniversary patch, I was only randomly crashing in Sector Space in DX 11. Now I randomly crash in Sector Space in DX 11 and crash during random space & ground in both DX 11 and DX 9.

Thanks a lot, Cryptic, for this major Frak UP.
Graphics cards - Geforce 210. using windows 7. up to date with patches. I also upgraded to latest driver today on the NVidia website
I admit it is a cheap card, but the card worked perfectly fine before DR
The message is here
"Fatal Error: Direct3d driver returned error code.
(DXGI_Error_device_removed) while checking sync query.
Technical Details: Sync Query 9 0x19b0d680 GetData == 0x887a0005 0 NF 601
How many incompetent Cryptic devs does it take to fix a bug crashing game launcher?
Answer, all of them, because nobody knows how to fix the damn glitch.
Used the safe mode with the launcher though, after i read it helped someone on here.
Will keep you guys updated.
Light travels faster than sound, that is why some people appear bright untill they speak.
First impressions, graphics are way off, seeing alot of "white" people around, but seems to be happening to some others as well.
have switched between all 3 toons and no problems so far, going to the delta quadrant on my main toon for the first time now, keeping my fingers crossed.
Light travels faster than sound, that is why some people appear bright untill they speak.
Oh well, looking on the bright side, I suppose it saves me spending loads of time farming for dilithium!
lol true. my carpal tunnel thanks you, cryptic!!!
the safe mode trick works for me. sadly, game looks pretty sad condition, will just go in and refine the dil. game looks possibly too fragile to play other than a quick fly around the Delta Quad or something, afraid it will crash.
will be able to refine some of my dil stockpile by the time they fix it, (if they ever do)
pls cryptic try harder to make game more stable.
Section: Bug Hunt.
Error: CTD
Joe
does it crash anywhere else?
could be an error with a specific graphic item on that planet.
maybe your computer can't handle the fact that they're zombies, yet not zombies
I have notice others having issues and wondering if it is a known issue that STO Tech teams are trying to fix or what.
ASUS G73S , Windows Home Premium 7.1 64 bit OS, Intel i-7 2630QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz, 12 GB Ram, nVidia GeForce GTX 460M Cuda 1.5 GB.
hope it gets sorted soon!
GG PWE.
Please, dear Cryptic - make a break with monetizing STO and deliver us a playable game. Thank you.

sto & nw are the same. cryptic you are about to lose another client because of your incompetence and the fact you don't care about your players.
and again they will say it's not their fault, bla bla bla
how it is not your fault when I'm logged in 2 mmo's on my comp and only sto - nw dc and not the second one ?

Yes...yes it is. Somehow I've caught that bug now, too.
Pay up or delete it!":(
I actually had VisualStudio 2013 installed and was able to capture the debug info...
