The psi-function of the system contains both the cat alive and blown to bits. Nobody really doubts that the presence or absence of the cat is something independent of the act of observation. :P
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Personally, I feel it is an indignity to those creatures. However, at this stage in the game, a lot of the animals you see in zoos/parks could never be released into the wild. They're pretty much domesticated.
By the way. I love the way you ask that as if you weren't human .
Now, back to my question. Could you see a proud, true Caitian/Ferasian buying lockboxes, knowing that it could contain an enslaved brother?
HEY.....my 2 lovely cats don't just lay around and do nothing! Ocassionally they get up, stretch, groom themselves, and lay back down in a new position. And on other days spend hours chasing The Evil Red Light of Doom and then lay around and do nothing after the get tired of chasing that which cannot be caught.
I've always preferred the kind of cats that wander the neighborhood looking for rodents. They're fun. They're much more lively than cats that sit around all day.
commander shepard has a space rat, sr2 isnt the same without it. and those little fat rats look like miniature versions of a bear. cats are the same, mini versions of a tiger.
in any event cats are semi-wild, they only follow their owner around when the cat wants something, so if a cat just follows and doesnt lick itself in different spots on its body by random or curl up somewhere trying to sleep or just being a typical cat during the later hours of the day. i have a good reason for calling cats and dogs as parasites because their ego wouldnt allow anything other then itself getting all the attention when the cat is in the mood. there is also a territorial range cats have between males and females, the female cat range is small, within 150m, male cats can go a lot further, so if a player is inactive for long enough the cat should have a limited window to go explore around and then a 50%-50% chance of meeting another cat on friendly terms due to the solitary nature of the animal.
so if this type of behavior isnt emulated for the cat in sto, there is really next to no point having one, a cat must be typical in its behavior.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
This is the first lockbox I have been interested in since the Tal Shiar one was released! If you insist on forcing me to have the Hazari ship then okay - but CATS!!!
As for Caitians and Ferasens owning cats we are okay with it, after all we like to help our kin where possible and us training them as an intelligence asset for information gathering is going great, after all who else can speak 'cat'...oh wait, damn I've said too much...everyone forget I said the last paragraph...:o

Interestingly, I learned that cats are actually social creatures that can live in groups. Probably what they do with those cat ladies I always read about in the intertubes.
And apparently, the "owner" of the cat is seen like a parent in regards to their social behaviour. Something that can be seen by their meowing - cats usually ony do this towards their parents.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
In addition to the cats, can we have a Riker hologram?
Spawn the Riker hologram and every cat in a 100 meter radius will suddenly go aggressive and attack the Riker Hologram chasing it across the map.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Cats will only tolerate groups when food is plentiful, as soon as there is a drop in the food supply trouble will happen. Even then they can still be loners in the group situation, especially when they go off to hunt.
They have learnt to "talk" a different way to use than they do with other cats. They very rarewly if ever use their meow with other cats, but they have learnt we are a vocal species and so they use it with us to get out attention. It is not so much that they see us as parents.
Even indoor cats have their own "private" zones that the others are not allowed to violate. I used to have 4 cats, each had their own sleeping spot and if one of the others was in it when that cat wanted their own spot the other one would move after a quick "poke" from the "owner" cat. This applies even when it is a single item like a sofa or a bed.
A pet that's not a bug, dino, or something with a horn glued on? YES PLEASE
I don't care how much the kitty costs, I want one for my main.
I hope one of them is a gray with stripes main coon. My beloved cat Whiskers can live again in round-a-bout way. I had him for 15 years, and he was such a sweet cat.
Where are you people getting the idea that there will be cats in lockboxes? I see no info on the forums or startrekonline.com. Don't tease me like this!

A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
