Seriously folks. If you like the wretched disco balls, have at it.........but if you think you have a right to actually harrass other players you don't.

Dance if you want to, but leave those of us who are happy to be grumpy alone.

It's a step in the right direction but it's going to be a long time until trolling can be effectively stopped.

I'd rather have everyone in the game run around in swimwear, though - that's something that wouldn't have needed 'fixing' - whoever sets those priorities... *shakes head*

Why do I get the feeling that the people that complain about the disco balls are the same peepz that report Starship names they don't like or put someone on "Ignore" if they don't agree on which Star Track captain was best? (which obviously is Sheridan...)

Because you can't imagine that people that disagree with you on one issue aren't idiots?

    And what's Star Track?

I get a feeling that we're going to see a lot of Disco Balls once this goes live, so that the Dancing Queens can figure out who has the Nullifier. :P

    I sincerely hope not.

As stated in many threads passim, the disco balls et al work best when self regulated.

In other words, if they're used responsibly then cryptic don't have to regulate them.

If disco ball extremists harrass enough players using the nullifier, then the losers will end up being those who use them for fun.

Can't stand the things myself, but I'd be saddened if they ended up gone from the game because some griefers didn't know when to stop.

Meh, the whole party ball whinefest just reminded me that MMO players will complain about anything.

So glad I'm on this side of the fence now.

Give me more stuff so I can complain about how bad it sucks, and I want it now, it's been too long since the last round of things you gave me I hate!

How would that be different from any other day? I see disco balls out en masse almost every time I log on.

I see them rarely, but thats almost certainly down to the fact that I routinely avoid the places they are common.

Generally speaking, the disco balls have been used responsibly.

There's the odd anomaly, but thats true in every dynamic.

A couple of posters have suggested, however, that there may be some who seek to identify those with nullifiers and single them out for 'special' treatment.

That would not be responsible, imo, and in the worst case may lead to cryptic having to force further regulation on the wretched things.

and while I think them wretched things, I prefer less regulation to more.

except, as i've pointed out multiple times now, the nullifiers are going to have the exact OPPOSITE effect to what everyone is expecting them to have

that's what happens when you put in nonsense like disco balls or party poppers and don't also include an option for individual players to turn off everything related to them as well...but hey, it's cryptic - smart thinking isn't exactly a requirement for working there

    Exactly.

These things stay in game as long as they stay below a threshold of ignorable irritation.

Once they breach that threshold, cryptic worry about losing money and off they go to the same place the exploration clusters did.
