Snark aside, that's pretty much my take on the whole situation. After the debacle of the cryo grenades one would have thought a little more forethought would have been put in before the enhancers were released, or a slightly more prompt response would have been made once the problems started being reported. One can only hope that this time they learned their lesson and we will not have to go through all this again.
In the end, put me in the column for the Nullifier being an at least acceptable resolution. Thank you to the Dev who coded them. Your efforts are appreciated.
Whats a Snark?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Would make a good 2014 Winter Event item that. Party Pooper Rifle, shoots down 1 party amplifier, applies [party pooper] debuff to user removing any tribble or gambling device buff currently active.
They did actually do something fairly quickly, they disabled the dance effect in mission zones as trolls were using them in ground STFs to grief. Now THAT is a genuine case where a need was identified and met.
As someone who both never uses the disco balls, nor minds when my stoic officer suddenly busts a move, I must say I'm disappointed that these aren't consumable devices that actually shoot down the disco ball, because that would be hilarious.

What I don't support is how there is a group of people on these forums who feel that they have the right to demand that everybody plays the game how THEY feel it should be played. They're not happy with just having the nullifier, they want the removal of the actual amplifier completely. Should they get that, next they will want everybody wearing the "correct" uniform, then they will doubtless move on to wanting a man of out of character conversations in local chat, etc etc etc.
I was one of the more vocal posters complaining about the party amp and am satisfied with an ability to opt out, I don't care about uniforms or whatever.
I tested both the Party Popper and the Nullifier on Tribble last night. And again this afternoon.
I bought the Nullifier first. It appeared in my inventory and is character bound. Then I bought the Party Popper. Also appears in my inventory. I then moved from the GPL vendor to a Mailbox terminal.
I activated the Party Popper. The disco ball appeared and the popper was consumed from my inventory. Nothing happened. No dancing emotes whatsoever. Working as intended.
I then opened my Mail and moved the Nullifier to my personal bank. Nothing changed. Disco ball still spun and my character continued to stand still.
I opened my emotes and could fluidly select from all of my dance emotes all by myself. I ended the emotes. Again, standing still under the active Party Popper. So I grabbed the Nullifer and deleted it. As expected, my character came under the influence of the party popper until it expired.
I like the Subspace Party Nullifier. I'm pleased that it's selling through the GPL vendor for 100 gold-pressed latinum. Something useful in the long term for me to buy with my Dabo winnings. PLUS, I get to choose when to party or not with other player's on the server. Which is as it should be.
If there is a downside it's that the Nullifer takes a personal inventory or bank slot to maintain it's effect. Small price to pay for one item, maybe? I just wouldn't want to see that become a habit.
Suggestion: Apply the Subspace Party Nullifier to all NPC's who are not by design already dancing on those maps.

Agreed. Risa npcs may want to dance, but Klingon guards would certainly not.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.
Party Nullifier Thread drinking game. Take a shot if:
- A poster complains that introducing the Party Nullifier ruins the fun of STO.
- A poster complains that said item was waste of Dev time, despite the Devs being the ones to introduce the problem in the first place.
- A poster suggests their own way to introduce the Nullifiers that would completely render them ineffective. (i.e. making them consumable, making them cost Zen, etc...)
- A poster complains that people who have been consistently griefed and bullied by the enhancers for the last year are the problem, not the people doing the griefing and bullying.
- A poster states that despite the Nullifiers they will still be finding ways to grief and bully other players.
Two shots if one of the above and the poster has a picture of the Enhancer in their sig.
Three if one of the above and the poster is a member of a known troll fleet.
Whole bottle for the first poster to pull a Godwin's Law.
Enjoy and drink responsibly.
Your rules seem a little one sided to me. What about a shot for anyone who says amps should be removed completely or 2 shots for anyone who says that amps should only be used on private maps. lol
Two shots btw. :P

The reason this thread isn't locked down, deleted or what not is because, as I've stated multiple times, IF a situation changes with anything on the FCT it would be allowed to be discussed again. Obviously they finally added a lighter version of the dev party nullifier item which changes the situation.
For the time being you are more than welcome to discuss the nullifier and it's effect on the economy, STO and what not however do remember we have rules that if people break will result in warnings or me just flat out saying "Okay this is back in the FCT".
and that why we can talk about Subspace Party Nullifier

Why can't you just change instances to where someone isn't partying with them in a public social area?
RadioStar.FM parties will continue to use these as our listeners LOVE them and it draws attention to our party.

I didn't see the big deal with the introduction of SPAs last year, and I'm not seeing one with this either. Maybe I just don't get it.

I have, but it was sooooo long ago. It was around the time when Star Trek IV: A Search for Whales came out.
I remember Sting and Max von Sydow being in it, and not much else.
