    Just for clarification!

    1) No Interior

    2) Only customizable part is the exterior?

    3) A luxury cruiser that is actually a full heavy combat starship. Not that Risa ever was about guns in the IP. I can understand the Corvette (Some Ferengi started to pimp the Corvette) But Seriously. A Risa Battlecruiser.

    4) No wearable swimwear in the non existent exterior.

    5) The must wanted part of the ship players do not get..

    6) A half baked ship like the half baked implementation of new content (Oh. yeah. Remastered content).

I guess this Risa event is a no event for me!

My thoughts exactly lol, thank you. :) They should change the server name from Holodeck to "Hollow Deck" in regards to the ship interiors. Don't worry I'm sure we'll get some new lock boxes again soon...

I was curious, so I looked it up. The Luxury Cruiser is only the second cross-faction ship to have a full comm array.... the first was the Galor. Every other cross faction ship with a comm array has only a partial comm array.

For Romulans and Klingons this is pretty cool since they don't have many options there. Romulan faction ships don't have comm arrays at all, and Klingons don't have any with a full array.
This dev blog claims that the Dromias has all 4 comm arrays... is it wrong?
    ...

Excuse me for a moment. I'm going to go down to the store to buy some cheese for all the whine in here.

Seriously, it's a BRIDGE you're complaining about. A BUH-RID-GE. Not having a bridge isn't going to kill anyone. I mean, if they did put in a bridge, it would be something like this and not this with a viewscreen hovering over it..
It's not 'just' the bridge. It's the lack of interior for the Luxury Cruiser's Atrium deck. And I think a few expected some on-board amenities too from the wording of an earlier dev blog.

Without an interior for the Luxury Cruiser's Atrium deck, the KDF and any other non-Fed-affiliated characters are locked out of using the swimsuits for 11ish months out of the year.

Wow nice stats n boff layout. It's more a battlecruiser than a leisure cuiser.

For such a peaceful fun loving people they sure have no problem selling their technology off to nefarious Ferengi arms dealers.

Anyway the ensign eng and 5th eng console kills any interest I might have had in the thing, guess thats good as I wasn't looking forward to grinding the event again anyway.

Also I might add that I think these Summer and Winter Events are becoming a waste of time and I wish they would go away so devs can devote more resources to permanent content, I doubt I will do much in either of these events anymore.

Very true. Cryptic forgot the memo of what a leisure cruiser is. So, they talked to a Ferengi.

I wouldn't grind for the ship but I know there will be plenty of others grinding away.

Hey at least we can rely on the captains of the Risan Armada to battle the Voth,Borg and Undine if the trio ever joined forces. :P

Yeah but the Breen ship only got it the second time around (the Chel Grett didn't have it originally), and the Dyson ships were doing the 3x3-pack C-store thing, and both were just a single rooms anyways.

Plus didn't Tacofangs post once that its more complicated to do a ship interior than to do a whole ship (especially if you're doing a whole ship, not just a bridge), and its effort for something few people ever use? Certainly an interior would have been nice, but I can't really blame the business decision of not spending the additional resources on it.

Personally, I'm just gonna pretend like the Ferengi put a Starfleet-standard bridge module on it to make it easier to use, and that there's a button in the turbolift marked Beach Deck that just never shows on camera.

Well, to be accurate, this -is- the second time around for the Risan ships (the Corvette also didn't have it when they were put out last year...exactly the same situation, even down to the sharable unique consoles only able to be used on the two ships of that event). Given their difference from any other ship in the game, a custom Bridge was a reasonable expectation, especially given the presence of such a thing in the Winter ships and the alluding to it in the previous Blog describing the ship.

As for the interior being something few people use, I will simply say that the interior of a ship is -the- defining quality of which ship I will put my character on. Why? First, because there are plenty of ships out there that do the same job, the interior is what sets the tone of the ship. Second, because in order to do the best DOFF missions, you -HAVE- to use the interior. Third, if I am going to put the effort into equipping a ship, training my BOFFs to use it, and learn its optimal tactics, I want a ship I will enjoy being -on-. And that doesn't even go into the other aspects of the game that rely on it (role play, account bank, trophy display, ect). Finally, the interior of a ship, together with the interior of ESD, DS9, and the various planet surfaces, are what -make- STO Star Trek, and not just a ship combat game. The work done on all of these is -not- wasted, as I would have thought the compliments from the playerbase on the recent renovations on ESD and the hopes of the KDF players for a similar upgrade should have made plain. These are -why- players come here instead of other space battle games.

So, no. The interior is a vital part of the game to those players who want more than the basic level of gameplay, and it would have been a defining part of separating this ship from a warship of the player's fleet. Now, that is all this is going to be....just another cruiser to fight in. And I think that is a great shame and loss of opportunity to add something new and special to the game.

Ah well. Such is the result of decision-making by polls.

    Lol. Yea.

    I wouldn't fly it myself.

Waiting to see the first one with some flaming color with neon orange on it. Like seriously! Then watch the Captain complain why people aren't taking them seriously.

With the Ferengi in the mix, can we pay with Pearls or Lobi Crystals?

With the Ferengi in the mix we should be able to pay with gold-pressed latinum.

Exactly. That's why we need appropriate interiors. Restaurants, bars, clubs, casino, spa, pool...

For me, the expectation was not about a unique bridge (though it would have been nice); my expectation was for something interior-wise that would have made the resort section feel like a part of the ship. Even if it was just a room with a bar and a jacuzzi/ pool that would have allowed tthe beachwear as a option.

Since no word was given on the interiour, I highly doubt it will be having a unique one.

If there would be a well done interiour I am sure they would have mentioned in the blog entry and showing some pictures of how awesome it is.

During WW2 many ocean liners were armed and turned into troop transports; since we are now engaged with Borg, Tholians, Voth and Undine then there may be a need for a comfortable way to move personnel, but also able to protect itself. Just don't go into a fire fight in just your speedo.

    No Unique Bridge.
    No Custom interior.
    No Swimsuits inside bridge either.

We were unable create a custom bridge for the summer ships, much to the dismay of the entire team.

If you think that was dismay, imagine how a sizable proportion of the players feel.

Mind you, we should be used to that by now.

Here is a proposal that will work best... Summer does not end until some time around September, if not November...

Delay the Summer event... give the Dev Team more time to think... and if possibly any ideas on implementing a custom interior/bridge...

I for once welcome a delayed summer event...

Instead of a rushed, not well wanted one by the players...

So just delay it.... make is start late July, early August... you still have more than enough "Summer" time to finish it...

    but since...

    My word wont count...

why am I even here giving suggestions... it's gonna go live tomorrow despite my proposal, that I know for sure many will agree with me...

Why delay it for a stupid interior, that players will use for the first week, then forget it's there the rest?

    Consider

2013 may 21 LoR expansion released

    2013 summer event june 27 - august 15th

    2014 summer event june 5th - july 17th

2014 late july - august STO expansion #2 released?

Developer resources may be in heavy demand at the moment, consider that the custom bridge for the Breen Chell Grett wasn't released until a year later with the Plesh Brek Heavy raider.

Expansion 2 is supposed to be comparable in size to the LoR release.... presumably that would include some new playable ships to purchase.

To get maximum exposure for a new expansion a summer release makes sense.

    Just some thoughts.....

Do as you will personally I am gonna enjoy Risa

    ;)

Well I can skip the ship, I only got the escort on one char last year and I don't fly cruisers. The custom interior would be the only reason for me to get this ship, as I was hoping for a Tuffli styled ship with a mini beach on board..

Will look into beach ware, but reports say it is expensive for only being able to use it on one planet..

    Breeding monkeys/birds it is then.

Well, I for one will be enjoying the "summer event" immensely... by playing the game normally.

I honestly don't want swimsuits for any of my toons - all power to those that do, mind, but a costume slot taken up with stuff I can only use on ONE planet? Not worth my time.

A "luxury cruiser"? Just no. Don't care for its stats, it is ugly as all hell and I'm not bothering... so I really should thank the devs for lessening my grind for the Summer. To those that do want one, great... just please don't all name them "Love Boat", "Floston Paradise" or "Titanic".

Feathered monkeys? Who got high, watched the Wizard of Oz and thought "D'ya know what Star Trek needs? Space monkeys!" Again, got an STO pet fetish? Enjoy. It's just not for me, thanks.

For me, the pinnacle of what these event ships can be was summed up with the Chel Grett. Based off a canon ship, with abilities (Boff slots, stats, etc.) which make it emminently useable in the game. Giving that a bridge was icing for me, really. I got a corvette or two last year, for amusement more than anything, but they are in mothballs after the novelty wore off. This year, I'm a little wiser and older... well, one of those things anyway :)

    Cruiser Customization Clarifications:

You have 3 ship Atrium selections, Forest, Islands, or Blast Doors

We were unable create a custom bridge for the summer ships, much to the dismay of the entire team. Things happen.

You have two alternate part options for many parts of the ship, missionpod/smokestack, 1 bottom ring/2 bottom rings, 2 engines/3 engines, double stanchion/regular stanchion, etc.

The ship shares all of the crazy custom color choices of the Corvette created by Adam, you can fly around in your own hot pink ship if you want! I even divided the ship up into many different parts so that you can have even more customization.

The Atrium forcefield is tied to your glowy bits color choices(thank Jamz for that), there are 8 unique forcefield patterns.

There is no playable custom interior space for the forest/islands. That would be an incredible amount of work, and this ship was already tons of work to begin with.

The ship's sails animate when in sector space, they open up to reveal sails along with the rear 'rudder'.

Any other questions, within reason, and I will try to answer.

Thanks, and I hope you guys enjoy your time on Risa, I'll see you there!

    -Nick

    Thank you for your answer.

Although the lack of specialized interior will probably mean I won't be flying the jetpack race this year (not too fond of the exterior, but that is just my personal opinion), I do understand that you opted not to spend your time on this. After all, you have an expansion to launch, and a new FE in late August (I think?).

Just as a single question though: assuming you would find the time, would you consider to make a special interior for next year that can be applied in retrospect? Say, Summer Event 2015 will bring a special interior for this ship. Only if you find the time ofcourse, and nothing you'll say will be seen as a promise to me. If needed, you can forum PM me if you don't want to risk making a promise in the views of some people.
