love The New Esd And The Shuttle Area Where You Can Take A Shuttle To Starfleet Academy Is So Cool Also .. Was Wondering Instead Of Transporting To Academy Out Doors, Is There A Way To Transport Directly To That New Shuttle Area At The Academy ?? The Area That You Go To In The Tutorial Better Place To Be If You Are Taken Shuttle Down From Esd.... THE ACADEMY SHUTTLE AREA IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF PLACES WE CAN ONLY SEE ONCE AND WITH ALL THAT GREAT WORK IT SHOULD BE OPEN UP ALL THE TIME .
perhaps that could be part of moving the award/assembly/chapel hall into the academy since its not at the starbase any longer?
I checked it out Saturday, pretty impressive. A few things I noticed and picked up on. I wasn't checking for tiny bugs, just the larger feel of it.
1. Outside the admiral's office is a set of stairs with no rails. This is pretty frequent in the game, like someone doesn't know modern safety codes, much less more strict ones in the future. But it has been followed in the new ESD except there.
2. The shipyard/engineering area has no larger labels, even a sheet of glass between the two pillars way up would look good.
3. On the fence about this one. There are no directions in the transporter room. On one hand directions would clutter the clean look, but it also helps new players get where they want easily.
4. I was going to comment on the club area being a disaster but I see its not done. Maybe a label or info for what that area is or will be for players not in the know.
For the cub, could it be possible to have a pop-up 'enter the club' screen come up but have it inactive? that way people can see that there is a club, but can't actually get to it.
Additionally you could pull a "Where's Sulu?" fix and have some NPCs near the club talking about it being closed.

that would probably work well. there is that upper level in the round space with a server, they could be discussing. it. and it could put all that information out for those passing through the area.
also, the door tag for those who get close enough says its secured.
Heck throw a couple of engineers 'working' on the door in as well!
peter
maybe instead a crate or two and/or barrels in that entry alcove? that coupled with bit of club 47 signage leading to and at that entry alcove ought to take care of helping keep people from bugging you about club47 being missing. it would be there, but obviously be set up as being worked on.
The shelves behind the nurse's station PADDs and files, the desk could do with some clutter. Also a couple of crash carts like on Voyager could help to enhance sickbay. Sugihara, the Diplomats and the Civillian Contractor could be moved to the conference room.

Taco has said that want to leave the conference room empty, for use by players, and fleets. Putting the diplomats in there would negate that.

Would it be possible to add the ships listed on the holographic display to the exterior map? It'd be pretty neat to see ships like the Odyssey, Challenger, and Rhode Island actually flying about in Earth orbit.
The Odyssey is already flying around, as well as a couple other ships. Haven't seen the Challenger or the Rhode Island, though.

The use of the word 'Infirmary' on a space station comes from DS9. Where the primary Medical center on the promenade was called the infirmary. This name change would have been something that Starfleet brought in when they took over control.

I know.
I still prefer Sickbay though. On my ship it was just medical. Though the idea that there is another larger hospital on another deck makes perfect sense.
Laws of motion man. If ESD was in synchronous orbit, just because it's losing altitude, doesn't mean it loses the momentum it had. Yes, when it hits the atmosphere, that will affect it, but you are correct that I don't know how much it would. I am not an Astrophysicist. I'm an Environment Artist. At some point we have to leave things for the suspension of disbelief within a video game based on a science fiction television show from the 60's.
De Kelley just smiled.
If/When the club opens, I imagine the whole doorway area on that platform will be replaced with a proper entrance. For now, I put that in to make it look like it at least goes somewhere.
I'm not planning on the upper walkway connecting to the Club. If there's a way to do it that makes sense, I might, but it's currently 80' up, and that's not a trivial distance to cover in stairs.
Just tell the music guys to be on their game.
I'm glad it feels darker. There isn't a lot of ambient light out in space, so the dark side of a planet should feel, well. . . dark. There are no lights off in Europe. Lights are on everywhere. This is the same with the current Earth on Holodeck.
I can't see a single light past the dusk terminator.
On the subject of the space map, I did notice something. The Skyfile. It's backwards. Inverted. Mirrored. The club/sword/scabbard on Orion's belt...it's pointed the wrong way. The whole thing still seems blurry to me as if we were seeing it through the atmosphere, but the constellations are backwards.
In the interior. The Alpha Beta Quadrant map. This is just a personal request and I'll leave it here. I HATE that 3D cubes sector block map. I don't care that it's canon, I've always hated it and it doesn't even match up with the in game maps. Please lose it, trash it, burn it, kill it with fire, and drop it down the corpse chute.
No thanks. That's a lot of maintenance work that I will never remember to do. We had a lot of discussions of things like that (Like the Holo Table showing whatever sector is relevant to a given season.) Knowing how production works, we'd follow up on that once, maybe twice, and then forget about it.
That's perfectly fair. Considering your workload and the rest of us already drooling over the possibilities for your future super-brilliant revamps there's no need to add to your workload.
Oh and today I just saw the Sovereign cruise by....just wow...just this slow majestic ginormous...it was like seeing a whale cruise by...the silent glory of the sea. The only thing that could possibly have made it better is if the station was rotating and it had blocked the sun and cast a shadow and there was an animation for my character to look over her shoulder. At it. It's the kind of moment where you would think that everyone would just be quiet and look up at her. It was awesome.

Or go all out and just put an "under rennovation" sign over the doorway with some holographic 'police crime scene tape' scrolling in front of the door with a hard hat area warning.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
I only mentioned it because it is starting to feel and look a bit crowded in that corner
personally, i think its a decent notion, but i don't recall the current ESD having an open conference room. there are fleets with perfectly good conference rooms, and lastly, there are all of the lounger areas in the main and upper levels available.
the admiral has an impressive, but not terribly large office. better to move them and free up the space fo rhte admiral.

Agreed. With the 'special projects' for fleet bases, we now have three of these conference areas in fleet holdings. One on the starbase, one at the embassy, and one at the spire. I would really prefer to have the one on ESD being 'used' by the NPCs, instead of having them in the Admiral's office.
I know if I were the Admiral, I wouldn't want to have random officers standing around in my personal office when there is a perfectly good conference room sitting empty not 10 metres away.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE leave the ones in the "storefront window" section TOS? Yes, put contemporary uniforms on the mannequins inside the shop but those you first see should be FASHION and STYLE and not practicality.
The TOS uniforms are timeless classics, and should remain on display as the beautiful works of art they are. Just in the window, not the rest. I beg of you.
Wife likes it, she says it looks a lot better then the old station, my issues are small, I want the wet drippy after playing in the water and more opportunity for may caitian to explorer, like on the old station.
Noticing some points in the most recent Tribble update (ST.40.20140316a.12).
There seems to be an apparent change in brightness when you come around the bend into the OPS center. It becomes a few shades lighter.
Did Linnea drop that pad under the Admiral's desk?
The ambient station audio (waterfall sounds, infirmary, PA announcements seem to be controlled in the interface volume slider vs, say ambient volume. Is this intentional?
The signage is awesome. Some issues with letters being cut off (the Infirmar[y] sign above the Medical Officer's office etc).
The backing of the blue/grey reclined seats is missing, causing them to be see-through.
The two saluting crewman don't have their feet placed on the on the step in front of the OPS water wall.
The docking speed reduction seems to be in effect across
Can we get any insights into what 'uniform' uniform candidates the team is considering for ESD personnel?
I hope Season 9 will launch with a *taps combadge three times* emote so we can comply with the new ESD safety in the event of decompression procedures!
Suggesting's regarding Club 47 looking like a fun place if your a Vulcan or Borg. Upon entering on the first level on the left where the door is how about adding the Bar since the door goes to sickbay and change the wording on it to liquor room or something. Next on the middle tier between 1st and 2nd level remove the door and put the DJ and his console their. As far as the dance floor, you can remove the tree and put back the multicolor flooring on the first floor center.
Suggestion for a special console on New ESB in the conference room or in the lounge, where a player can view current players playing STF's and PVP's as a spectator to learn to properly play a mission. It would require an option to let someone view you playing and could toggle to show equipment and/or abilities. I believe it would be a good way to teach players how to do STF's without causing a team to fail objectives.

Yeah 'cause sometimes the conversations in ESD heat up and I open a window to let some fresh air in. It always gets suddenly quite after that for some reason.....
Hadn't checked, but the First Contact Day blog shows the Enterprise-F using them, I assume that's intentional to foster fleet unity.
I wouldn't mind it, but I and someone I know noticed what's there now is rather...faint, like you can barely see them in comparison to what's on Holodeck.

Alright, so I have to say, the revamp of ESD is AMAZING. I love the detail and the fact that it now looks like it belongs in 2409.
I only have one real criticism. The shuttle bay. Let us down there! That is amazing work, and its gorgeous!

I was talking about the actual Earth space map, the one you warp from sector space into.
