Please use this thread to post any feedback and bugs for the new Earth Space Dock interior.

New Features:
  • New Earth Space Dock:
  • The interior of Earth Space Dock has been redesigned!
  • The state of ESD is very close to our final layout and design but this is still a work in progress.
    • All art and audio are not finalized.
    • Not all contacts are present.
    • There may be a couple of ways to get to old ESD.
      • Please help by reporting any of these cases on the forums.

Bug Report: It is possible to jam yourself into this mirror area. :D

I'm assuming this isn't entirely finished, naturally, but wanted to make sure it was noted!

Odd misplaced reflections on the ESD exterior windows.

Lots of plants and whatnot that are not in this section. Pretty much any reflective surface in the exterior-facing room has this.

Using the "Maneuvering Thrusters" button and trying to enter through the exterior doors to ESD, will zone you into the old ESD map.

It is brilliant. Utterly, utterly brilliant.

Please please please can we have it put into the Foundry?

    Bugs

    1. The security officer is named "Ensign Medic".
    2. The button to talk to the Romulan ambassador is labeled "Talk to Commander".
    3. Linnea is sitting on the floor.
    4. The button to access the bank just says "Interact".
    5. The Exchange is floating in midair.
    6. Some NPCs are just red blocks.
    7. Some NPCs are now typing into empty air; they used to be typing on terminals.
    8. Most of the transporter chief's dialogue is now outdated.

    Missing Features

The following features seem to be missing, though it's possible that they actually are there, but I just missed them.

    1. Mail
    2. Club 47
    3. Terminal for lifetime subscribers to claim the fireworks and combat EV suit

    Other Criticisms

    1. I'm not sure I like how everything is out in the open. In my opinion, certain spaces should be segregated. For example, would Admiral Quinn really want his office to have a big glass wall that everybody can see through?

    2. Earth looks blurry when viewed from the windows of ESD. In my opinion, you should reduce the depth-of-field effect. We can turn it off ourselves, but I don't think the effect should be so extreme here.

    3. Many NPCs who used to have desks are now standing around in the middle of nowhere.

    4. This change will likely break many existing Foundry missions. For example, the spotlight mission "One Too Many" uses both a single-player ESD instance and the multi-player ESD zone. Also, one of the jump training missions for IGE uses an NPC contact on the balcony in front of Admiral Quinn's office. I'm not sure what the plans are to allow Foundry authors to update their missions.

    A few things to note...

    1) The exchange consoles are all floating in the sky...

    2) The Lower Level is in fact the lower level for current ESD (unsure if the new lower level will be added later or if that is it, but stands out like a sore thumb in comparison to the rest of New ESD)

    3) Random Voth Medic... Seems.... odd... And it seems he is a door (possibly to the Battlezone, but unsure as I didn't want to leave)

    4) the Bank location looks like someone just dropped it in and forgot to move it to the proper location (It is sitting askew to the walkway and on top of carpeting

    5) Captain Sulu appears to be typing on a missing console

    6) unsure what the random green flash near Commander Burgess is supposed to be

    7) Linnea seems to have had the station built around her legs. They are stuck in the floor in Quinn's office and she seems to have decided to make the best of the situation and sit down with crossed arms while she waits for someone to free her

    8) Club 47 seems awful dull :( (Seems this is known and was mentioned in Dev Meet which I missed)

    9) Console on the level below the transporter pads (Right outside transporter room and on the side that has the walkway going to what I assume will be Club 47 in the future, currently the "spiral walkway") is floating about a meter (maybe) off the floor

Overall though I really love the new Redesign... Particularly the little things like the ramps with waterfalls under them and Ensign Tessmer :)

    1. Mail, bank, and Exchange.
    2. Tailor, ship tailor, and ship selection officer.
    3. The club and Jay Yim

Bank is outside Ops (it just says "Interact" and looks like someone forgot to move itto the proper location)

Tailor has it's own section, complete with changing rooms

Ship Tailor is in the shipyard area (to the left if looking out the windows from the ramp in) and Ship selection right next to requisitions (directly down the ramp)

Exchange is near the red ESD Rockem Sockem robots :P

Club 47 is to the right when you beam in... Currently rather boring...

Captain Yim is looking out into the Hanger bay to the right side (if looking out yourself) of the Shipyard area

Of the ones missing... Mail is the only one I have yet to find

First off, I love the new area!

A little thing I noticed: There is an unreachable walkway above the main area. On its underside are small lights. However, even on max detail distance, they fade away as you walk around the room. As their locations are visible from across the map, they should be visible as well.
Take a look at my Foundry missions!

Very nice. Just like any new zone, it's a little confusing at first, but it will become second nature to navigate and it's already amazingly better than the old map.

Need to make Earth look better out the windows... this has been said above with more technical knowledge than I possess, but I wanted to second the thought.

Oh, and Lego People are OP, plz nerf. And add more of them. In different colors. :D

    Invisible glass walls at ESD

The glass walls look invisible in the area with the spiral ramp where Pag is. Though the glass walls are clearly visible from the outside, they are indistinguishable from the open door from the inside. Note that I have "Reflection quality" set to "High".

Obviously there's still a lot of space-dust in the air, but overall I'm very impressed. I can't wait to see it continue to take shape.

I thought I'd mention some of the less serious things about the current ESD on Holodeck.

    1. People climbing the Exchange
    2. Spacewalking outside the windows

One thing I always found interesting about Club 47 is Ensign Gol's crush on Lieutenant Jotun; he's always looking in at her from the outside.

    http://i.imgur.com/tI7zwSx.jpg

But now, he's having a nice chat with Ensign Paxad. It seems he's lost interest in Jotun.

    http://i.imgur.com/FQtRl8P.jpg

Anyway, I just thought the NPCs were more interesting when Gol was watching Jotun dance.

I like the aesthetic but I dont like the layout. Specifically the main destinations are in obscure places and are not accessible to large crowds. The three things I use the most are bank, exchange, and BOFF trainer. The bank is just the one (!) terminal which is going to be hard to see when its stacked 10 deep. The exchange and tailor seem alright except the doors are very small, and you would expect them to have open faces like shops in a mall (no doors, just walk in anywhere). The BOFF trainer down at the admirals office makes no sense at all is a real hike. Other than that it looks very nice and clearly involved a lot of effort.

The map is hueg. I wouldn't put it past them to have more bank terminals.

    I don't agree at all.

the Bank is clearly in a placeholder position. They're not gonna leave in the middle of the concourse. Its probably going to be part of the exchange room.

The Boff Trainer is in a good area IMO. Using the offices vs. having them as scenery is a good thing.

And smaller size creating large crowds? Well, That should be the case on the busiest starbase in the Federation. This place is a meeting ground not just for Starfleet but for traders and civilian interests as well. ESD should be packed like a sardine.

the first, i did not take a pic of, but right in the middle, when you look up, there is a console in space outside of the dome.

Those are the fun parts about ESD! When you have just come from an STF run, and you need to unwind, just start climbing! It is entirely harmless, does not crash the server, and does not kill any players. It is simple, harmless, good natured fun that is great for relaxing! And at the very least, it also gives a quiet spot to concentrate on fleet stuff.

While you're redesigning ESD, maybe you could add a door that leads directly to the Captain's Table? That would follow the lore more closely and also make the captain's table more easily accessible because it is currently hidden behind like half a dozen map transitions.

(Wish: Add such a door to the capatain's table to all bars in starbases: ESD, DS9, K7, ...)

Taco confirmed this today on Tribble. They will be adding a door to the Captain's Table, and that it was part of the goals for this redesign. Though he didn't say anything about doing it to other maps. Just New!ESD.
