Seeing as I can't yet post a thread of my own, I guess this would be the next best thread to post in with my issue.
I cannot play the game anymore, due to my PC crashing (read: entire PC, blue screen and all) when I try to patch my launcher. My current version is the May 13th update, and whenever I attempt to patch, it gets a few seconds in before killing everything and restarting. This has been going on for several days now and I can not figure out the problem.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've tried using the link the OP provided, manually restarting my PC, the works. Nothing changes.
What is the problem exactly, and how can it be fixed?
02:13 PM Launcher have restarted alone .. and loading pop up.. on center launcher screen dont let me login and restart patch.
I have quit, restart and bam now Launcher remeber where it leaves.
On EU Spain... 4 hours now till i start to patch. were the time when servers were offline and left one hour to anouced 19:00 UTC

I'm having similar problems. Just patched the game. And now it goes to login and retrieve characters and gives me the "Cannot retrieve characters due to an unknown error." Or then I get "Connection timed out," when trying to retrieve character list. -- I checked Neverwinter Online and I can login there just fine and get my characters, so I know it's not my internet connection.
Would love to play a Romulan, but can't play if the game won't work. Already have highest level Federation Character and a Klingon Empire guy. I can't even get to them to play.

+ i can create one alien romulos and did 2 mission..
_ i logout and change char, and ploff login screen ....nothing good hapens.
In another try 2 hor later when i try to PLAY i cant log it say you are 4 of 10345
and when suposed to screen previos to enter my game char selected,... nothing happen. just a SERVER NOT RESPONDING in bright red on the screen...
i tried to see how log this remain... 2 hour..
the maximize , minimize only control i can click on this screen, not reponding.

My problem is worse than most, I suspect: my game launcher won't patch. Yes, you read it right! It won't patch the LoR! Why? I don't know. Or, ever since the latest SHARD, this... launcher won't budge an inch!!! Not to mention to login, but fail to retrieve characters and "energize" them. So, no Holodeck, no Tribble... What now? I mean, I just re-installed the damn thing / launcher some 4 - 5 days ago!
N.B. I have my game on the G: drive, under Win 7 Enterprise. Now, the game is divided into two (very) large sub-folders. And I just downloaded the Fools Day STO launcher, "pasted" it onto the "old" one from the CrypticStudios folder, and... got the same error.
Ha, ha! I was more than certain that, once getting started with another SHARD aka "Emergency maintenance" , this launcher would start patching! Now, it remains to be seen if, once fully patched, the launcher logs in correctly or not. And IF I am to get the character list or not!

Auto updated my behind... Was having issues with the auto update crashing my launcher, so downloaded the launcher from here thinking that might fix it. *Gasp* It instantly "auto updated" the launcher exe and went right back to the faulty, crashing launcher.
Launcher won't connect to patch server. It just hangs there and the Engage button never shows up.
So I downloaded the link here. Thrice in different intervals today
Not sure if the link is being updated at all. Now its even worse since the launcher won't even load the splash screen. Just attempts twice and gives a patcher error. Old problem that up till now is still around.
I used the gameclient.exe in the files. Sure, it starts the game but it can't connect to the Account Server at all.
they downloaded a fresh launcher from the website itself and so far its working.
Currently mine is working and its downloading a 3 GB patch but its quite slow. 5 hours and counting I'm still at 56%.
I usually get that done in an hour in the past. Could be because alot are prolly downloading the same thing plus the fact that others are also saying their patching is also slow
update. The launcher work so far since my recent post, even got to play a good two hours afterwards. Unfortunately i was suddenly plagued by lags and "server not responding" messages all over till i just quit the game. Now the launcher is back to its old habits. It launches, attempts to patch but never does. ugh..

I've tried downloading the one linked in the OP but it behaves in the same way.
Everything works as normal until it checks for game version. Then it gets stuck on Patching and the engage button never shows up.
Worked fine up until yesterday.
Have also tried to circumvent the launcher and start the game from the GameClient.exe and the game starts and tries to connect to the account server... but doesn't go further then that.
My problem is similar, however the engage button pops up. When I press engage everything disappears and nothing happens. I've gone threw a few of these threads and tried the solutions but nothing is happening.
I haven't played in 4-6 months and after hearing about the new expansion I wanted to try it out again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Same problems here. Launcher insta-crashes on start-up. If I fire up the game executable itself it starts but log-in times out every time.
This only started happening today and it is also happening for Champions Online (exactly the same problems) yet Neverwinter is working fine.
I'm guessing this has something to do with their server problems lately. I think their solution to the lag and connectivity issues has caused this (at least for STO and CO). Guess I'll just wait it out.

Ok, so I have the same issue, can't get anything from the launcher. Tried restart my comp, no dice. So I figured re-install, but still nothing. So, is it worth having a subscription to this game, or am I just wasting my money? I have been getting dropped from the game every second or third loading screen, and tech support is no help, so not my first issue with STO game issues, any advice welcome.
I have downloaded this autolauncher several days now and the version is allways the same: 2013.13.30.1350 , so the autoupdate to the link might be faulty since the game must have passed this autolauncher version long ago. BTW I did download a later version which didnt work but after that the link went back to the mentioned version.
Maybe Brandon can look into it and share a new link to the new version of the launcher
The launcher version 2013_06_03_13_41 is really laggy, I can't login, and its taking me about 40mn to get into the game and to se characters not even loading ( or half of them )...Please help me.

That link always downloads the same file which is pre-NWO release. Come on Cryptic, if you sticky a link to 'always get the latest launcher' at least make sure the latest version is actually there.
The servers and forums are barely staying alive, the chances of downloading anything with the launcher is negligible.
I haven't had any luck with this file since around March. Every time there's a new launcher version, I try it, but it never works. I've created a virtual machine installation running Windows XP whose sole purpose is to update the launcher exe. Until Cryptic fixes this particular file, I'd be more than happy to upload it somewhere. You can check it with VirusTotal if you want. Just let me know if you find anything - that'll mean my system is infected as well
OK I am a new player who's never had Internet Explorer work on his computer for some reason or another.
As I try to open the launcher it gives an error page saying it cannot display the webpage, asking for more info leads to a Internet Explorer page that does not work and the failure itself leads to an Internet Explorer error.
I desire to play your game but I do not know how to fix the broken launcher. I have reinstalled it and used the link on this thread. Any assistance would be appreciated.
I tried everything by now once again with this launcher problem. Nothing helped. This is the problem that quite some time ago during season 5 caused me to quit the game since it lasted about a month. A few weeks ago I had it again and I thought OMG! Please not this ****e again!
After three days of not working it simply started working again.
So now I'm just supposed to wait it out? This is beyond ridiculous. If I can't play today at all I will uninstall this game and never again touch this migraine inducing product.
I have no understanding for this, none what so ever.

All of the Cryptic launchers and patch connections are messed up this morning. You can either keep trying to the point of frustration, or try again in a few hours.
Some shenanigans happened after the Cryptic maintenance was over and the servers were opened back up. this affects CO, STO, NW. (and may affect BLR some)

Actually, it has other problems that the Cryptic and PWE engineers are working on.
There may be another downtime with a new quick update coming. We shall see. You can either keep trying, or try again in 1-3 hours.
Some things went awry this morning with the launchers an patchers for the Cryptic games after the maintenance this morning. Please be patient and they should have it fixed soon!
