My morbidly obese, deeply pained mailbox thanks you.

The (most likely) exact same 100 meg "server stability" cache file I've already downloaded 5 times, not so much.

I've honestly had a very smooth launch and didn't experience most of these bugs. But thanks for putting in the fixes anyway!

Love the Tau Dewa fix, the Aux fixes, Borg Red Alert... and especially the mail fix.

    Cool!

Now... any news on adjusting the Oddy tactical destroy escort's size?

    Mail can now be deleted.
    This is good news, thanks!

However deleting mail from the in-game system is still a painful process. Do you guys have any plans to give us a way to delete blocks of messages en masse, either via the existing interface or through some other mechanism? (Like we used to have on the old Cryptic forum...)

It's a shame that Devil's Choice had to be nerfed, but anybody that saw the plethora of threads (and was confounded by them) would have been lying to themselves if they thought it was not going to be made even easier for the very casual player.

Although it did not require anything out of the ordinary from the player, it was obvious from the countless threads and even more countless posts in those threads that the minimum effort required to complete the mission was simply asking far too much.

It presented a great opportunity for those that had no issue in the least with the mission, those that applied themselves a little to the mission, and those willing to take any small steps to improve their capabilities in STO to come together as a community building exercise. There were simply too many that were not willing though, and thus the great opportunity was lost. Hopefully, that does not prevent any such further endeavors by those that like to think of STO as having a community from coming together as a community.

The mission had set a casual/base level with some of the AI improvements that have been made in the game, and it offered an exciting showcase of the sort of potential content that Cryptic can produce to rock and roll their players. Down the road, should additional non-Borg STFs be considered - or even additional PvE events - a ramped up version of the pre-nerf version of Defense of Romulus would make a great starting point for a regular version of a New Romulus STF. Then beef it up even further for the Elite version, and there could definitely be some challenge added to the endgame.

Devil's Choice, amped up, could be a nifty foundation for both Ground and Space New Romulus STFs.

Again, it's a shame it had to be nerfed to accommodate certain players - but again, it was completely understandable unfortunately...

Can't thank the system folks/content folks/artists/et al enough for the effort they've put into LoR. Yeah, there's more than a handful of things to address...but LoR is absolutely stunning. Thanks guys.

Devil's Choice isn't too bad. The ally ships were bloody useless and stayed in repair mode all the time. Nedel suggests taking out the command ships first, which doesn't help since they take awhile to bring down. You're better off taking out the escorts and battleships first.

They can keep it as it is, but buff the ally ships so they actually contribute something to the encounter and even things out.

Patch notes look good, here's hoping. Perhaps the 'stability fixes' help for what seems to be the server going down to it's knees after it's been running consistently for about 24 hours or so.

    Here's hoping.

    (SNIP)

Well, I admit to slightly mixed feelings about this. I didn't have too much issues with this mission on normal difficulty. I got blown to itty pieces once at the defense of New Romulus, then realized I should NOT be listening to instructions.. and then it was pretty smooth sailing. However anyone using the standard bloated whale ship for the mission might have a bit more difficulty with the constant charge attack spamming.

The mission's difficulty was at normal difficulty perhaps about what you get with elite from most other missions. If it's meant to be doable solo, without cash shop ships or some over the top gear (relative to what one can expect from player who just got to that mission with their first character), then pre-patch it's too difficult - and scaling down is a good thing.

What I'd actually hope is for the rewards to scale up better on harder difficulties for regular missions. Right now I can do missions on elite, but it generally takes perhaps 5 times the time it takes to run them through on normal.. and while the challange is nice, it's not sufficiently rewarding in itself to do the missions on higher difficulty.

Indeed - this was the main issue. The instructions were to focus fire on command ship.. and that just didn't work. Attacking command ship while all the allies are down for count, and you're bombarded by 2 dreadnoughts, 2 battleships, 3 escorts, several control ships, frigates etc... uh. Hahahahano.

Take out the control ships and agile ships (escorts) first, kite them away from the rest if necessary. Then blow up the battleships. When there's just the dreadnoughts left for the most part, the allied ships should start to get out of their repair cycles.. and they alone are already enough to bring down the command ship. Either join with them to bring down the command ship, or kite the dreadnoughts away from the fight if they pose a problem for the allied ships. It takes a while to do all of this, but it's a way to clear that mission.

Well after the patch all this may be unnecessary.

The main problem I encountered with the Defense of New Romulus was all the Romulan ships just dying in the first 5 seconds of the 3rd wave, leaving only the player ship(s) and the KDF and Fed ships.

If the Romulan NPC's had been how they were in the previous two waves (repairing like the KDF or Fed ships do in wave 3), then the mission would have not needed a nerf. My 2 cents.

Oh, and when can we get Romulan Doff packs from the store? When can we start getting uncommon/rare/very rare Romulan/Reman boffs and cross train Fed/KDF boffs with Romulan/Reman ones? It's a ROMULAN faction. I don't want Starfleet/KDF officers making up the majority of my ship's crew...

Yeah I left this out on purpose. I am disappointed that it got adjusted. Did I consider it hard... yes. Did I consider it uncompletable... no, and here's why...

You do not get anything special for finishing a mission without respawning. No reward, no little gift... nada. So... why not take the time to respawn and learn from your mistakes.

I must have respawned about four or five times before i realized, the AI has no clue what it is talking about, and developed my own tactics. And you know what... three spawns after that I finished it.

I was proud of myself for finishing it. I had a D'Deriex. My most potent weapon... the har'pheng mounted aft, as I was always moving away from the ship. The torpedo's speed to target, the radiation burn, and the resulting explosion after helped greatly.

    Hi everyone and pwebranflakes.

Its finaly good to see some of the bugs repaired, but you guys have forgot others that are important too.

An example is the bug that people are getting more bridge officers skills by duplicated stations that allow them to have twice more than the normal. (I dont know how people get or exploit this, but its wrong and was fixed in the past, now its back again...).

Other example is the exploit that some romulans captains are using now. They are shooting big plasma torpedoes using a singularity core ability near starbases and stations sectors (that are pvp protected) to destroy the ships that are docking.

Its impossible to normal players shoot in this sectors near starbases, but this exploiters/hackers are abusing this bug to harass players on the game. Please, fix that too and other bugs that the game may have.

Thanks for the hard work to make this game better everyday.

    1) Those that just did it.
    2) Those that gave up.
    3) Those that...

I think that was coolest part of reading those threads. You could almost feel it through their posts. That sense of satisfaction, that sense of accomplishment, that sense of having done more than just lobbing the proverbial plasma grenade into a barrel of fish.

And that was just plain ol' damn cool...

They fixed a problem in the mission. The ally ships were getting wiped out very quickly. They stay in the fight in the repaired version. After trying it out on Tribble, I'm looking forward to it arriving on Holodeck.

    Two things:

Your two things don't negate the problem that the ally ships were getting wiped out very quickly, when that wasn't supposed to happen. It wasn't working as intended. Hence the fix.
