Hi everyone. I am hoping by posting this and getting enough posts here that the dev's will notice enough to try something that works.
I'm not here to rip the game, just sayin that the server maintainance resets? they aint workin! I and others still get the lag issues, the server kicks, and now the forever patch.
Guys? it aint my end i have 20/20 meg per sec download/upload speeds right now. it aint mu "puter" either. it has state of the art everything so please please note and fix?
(come-on players lets not troll but let em know) the ticket system aint happinin either. :)

Is this just happening in STF/ event maps? Or everywhere?

Affecting me while playing a foundry mission. Had a 40 sec "server not responding" and then I was able to continue playing. Surprised I didn't get dropped to the login screen.

I just logged in fresh an hour ago, finished a Federation Minefield that was a rubberbandy mess 20 minutes. Just now finished a Crystal Catastrophe run that was perfectly fine. Haven't tried STFs because I'm scared.

To be frank, everywhere. Fact myself and at least 2 of my fleet mates maybe more had to log out because we couldnt even enjoy leveling togeather on the KDF side. Something has to be done before may 21st in order for a more stable game time.

I know you guys work hard, and try to stabalize things with patches but I honestly think something more drastic needs to happen. Eather get your own servers so they arent shared with other cryptic based games "if indeed that is the case".

    Just my thoughts anyways.

Happened in everything for me. I was rubber banding around Mine Trap so bad, as was the rest of the team. Got a disconnect at the worst time too.

Also flying around space was like temporal inversion: forward, back, forward, back....

I stopped playing earlier because of the lag during missions as it was so bad. I was wondering if the server is located in the same location as the Neverwinter server as the open beta (soft launch) started today and I'm sure that server will be getting hammered.

    Cryptic

I must say im really disappointed with the impact of the Neverwinter beta on Star Trek Online, i would of thought you would of learned your lesson from when you had star trek online beta, you totally killed Champions online, to the point the server crashed multiple times.

Come this neverwinter beta, star trek is dying, why on earth have you not used a separate server and bandwidth is beyond me. Yes i understand financially it may not of been possible, but come on.

Really very disappointed, and i hope in good old fashion this is addressed asap. Its making the game almost unplayable, except for social aspects. 30sec freeze lags in an stf are not acceptable.

Alberta, Canada here and it's been lagging like hell all day for me too.

I won't bother posting Tracert and Nettest because both are exactly where they should be, yet the game is barely functional.

Sitting near Sol System in Sirius Sector Block: I'm watching as the ships are blinking across the screen and rubber banding all over the place.

Delta Volanis, doing my Explore New Worlds run:

Space Battle: My torpedoes didn't even look like they were hitting their targets. They were vanishing halfway to the target and the ships were stopping and starting.

Ground Battle: I would take a shot and everything would be in different places by the time the game started updating again. At one point, I was fighting klingons on the ground, I took one shot and I didn't even get to move again until five or six seconds later, at which point half of the klingons were already dead and my prone character was near death.

Nice to know I'm not the only one having these issues.

It's been horrible for a few weeks now and I have already posted on the matter so I'll limit this post to today's experiences.

The Good: No server not responding messages today!!

The rest: Rubber banding, all out freezing, especially in STF's which mean I die and don't collect as many marks as I should be able to. Tonight, the launcher is simply not starting the game. It's connected but just sitting on the game version number, downloading at about 100kB/s but not patching anything. So what the hell is it going?
The game is also extremely slow once I get in. This has been getting worse now over a couple of weeks.

How can Cryptic release the Romulan Expansion which will 1. Attract MORE players; 2. Bring back inactive players, and expect the system to hold up under increased traffic and let us play with a reasonable network performance?

These days it's hope and praying when you start an STF that the game will at least for 15 - 20mins, let you control your ship and do what you want so you successfully complete the mission!

I'm sick of dying due to lag, re-spawning and oh.... my ship won't respond to direction controls... great.

I'm sick of queuing up DOFF missions and waiting for the descriptors to load. Or the lag once you start a DOFF mission for the game to register that you have started it.

EDIT: It's worse. I'm orbiting Defera. Ships are not moving, they are flicking around at a rate of once every 7 seconds. My ship powers don't show. My trays are completely empty. This game is currently broken.

Try to do an STF or CE, or anything other than sitting in a social hub, and come back and say this :)

Have you not been reading zone chat, its causing some major lag issues.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Isn't the only thing linked to Champions, STO and Neverwinter the chat server? That shouldn't cause lag.

Hrmph, and here I was thinking my computer was finally crapping out when I experienced unusually freakish bouts of lag in Tau Dewa earlier today.

    This certainly explains things.

i have to agree. prime time play has been horrible.. i just logged in right now to play for a few and when i pushed walk forward it took almost a second before i started walking forward.. then i jumped back to where i started..

i tried to open the bank and it took almost 3 seconds for that to show up.. so i logged off.. i guess i wont be playing until later.

you can uncheck zone chat in your chat options, also 30 freezes in a stf, that has never happened to me or anyone else i know in my fleet.

if its a exaggeration, i apologize, but 20-30 freezes, wow...

I admit, that there is some lag, but not big for me.

Crashing of the game (5 times all ready), lag and server time outs in STF's, lag in fleetmark events, and so on. to be honest, I agree with the OP. Even worse, Cryptic knew that this Neverwinter Night was going Open Beta today and yet they have failed to optimize their servers for it. Let's only hope that this will be a valuable lesson before the big patch of May 21st gets released. You know what they say in my country : a donkey doesn't bump his head at the same stone twice.

That doesnt help, and it was no exaggeration. Just spend a little time in the EliteSTF channel and see how many other people are complaining about it.

You may not of experienced it as of yet, as it only seams to effect the instance servers for stfs / planets and such, Social hub wasn't too bad, only about a 3sec delay on selling multiple items each time.

But go into an STF with a lot happening at once, like Starbase 24,and feel the pain.

This was what happened to Champions online when STO first started. The server actually crashed, i mean this is no way near as bad as then, but seams like the lesson wasnt fully learned, which is a pity.

A lot of people in my fleet, Task Force Spectre, already said its unplayable and logged off.

Yeah fine last night when I log off, got up this morning to find it really bad. after the character is loaded it seem to be still playing catch up or still loading. Made it really fun while playing CE.

I also hear NW is now open beta, rather large influx onto the servers.

    Rash?

No, its experience, so it was coincidence that when sto beta started, champions online crashed, its coincidence that within a few hours of neverwinter beta starting sto starts to globally heavily lag, nah your right, totally rash.

Pull your head out of the sand. It is 'common' sense.
