Stats are still being finalized, so we're not able to share them just yet You'll be able to see them on Tribble though once you are able to start testing Romulan gameplay via the ship store.
That was significantly lighter on details than I was hoping for and also quite revealing. It seems that if the rumors that we can use allied vessels are true then this very limited selection of ships may be the reason.
I'm not saying I'm completely dissapointed, but the fact that the Romulan ships go from "Escort" to "Battleship" as you tier up is somewhat dissapointing. I'll also admit I'd hoped to have a Mogai at T5, not T3.
Are there at least plans to give us different visualization options with the free ships? Or do we need to buy costumes/refits from the C-Store?
The lack of ship stats should make this thread a calm and rational place of discussion.......
Indeed, kind sir, indeed. As all ladies and gentlemen of the forums understand, that the unveiling of the ship stats should be of a later time due to balance, this shall provide great ground for an afternoon's conversation.
will the romulan cloak be different from the standard, battle, or enhanced battle cloaks? While I'm all for factional uniqueness and not infringing on KDF gameplay. Rommies are THE cloaking guys from the IP. More details on the cloak would be great. COuld it be slightly better, faster, slower dunno just different from KDf cloaks.
I suspected that there will only be one ship per tier (for free that is). I hope the gazillion c-store options coming have something for every playstyle then...meaning science, cruiser and escort flavor.
... I'll also admit I'd hoped to have a Mogai at T5, not T3...
From the blog:
Other Romulan ships, such as Refits and Retrofits of these vessels, as well as completely unique ships, will be available for purchase through the C-Store.
Obviously we have not seen all of the ships yet, but the Romulan science ship and the scimitar were noticeable exceptions, but I imagine they will get in there somewhere.
Now, while there was a very very limited amount of romulan ships in the shows, and i dont expect them to suddenly conjure up dozens of new ships in one update, I am surprised that the ships seem to encompass every game type in one line.
once you get to tier 5 and have access to retrofits and refits it wont be too bad, but it seems you may be required to adopt different play styles and different set ups as you go.
Perhaps something can be worked on so that different variants of the ships can be released at each rank, so perhaps the tier 2, and 3 variants could have different set ups. each could easily pass as a battleship, science or escort.
the tier 4 d'derdiex could pass as a science or a battleship, with a tier 4 mogai acting as the escort. it would at least allow people to play their desired play style all the way up?
So only 5 free ships for the whole faction. This must be the reason we get crossfaction ships. Anyway we will probably see a lot Ha'apax Advanced Warbirds a few weeks after launch of LoR since it's the only free Tier 5 ship of the Romulans.

I guess that tier progression is a perfect "incentive" to buy c-store ships.
I wonder if the heavy cruiser-like romulan ships will be able to use dual cannons. Their wide but short in length design would make beam boat broadsides look weird and awkward, unless perhaps dual beam banks will be made worthwhile in the update or some way to "broadside" forwards.

I think the D'Deridex was called a "battle cruiser" which is what the kdf cruisers are called... so I think yes.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

I got the impression, and Brandon correct me if I'm wrong, that ship designs of earlier tiers would be available at higher tiers. It talks about the pros and cons of each tier as if there is a choice between them. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say your options open up as you gain rank.
Also the D'deridex is slower than the Galaxy class but designed to appeal to Battle Cruiser players? Whut? Trying to comprehend that is giving me a headache since the appeal of Battle Cruisers is the ability to mount duel cannons on a cruiser combined with the mobility to actually use duel cannons.
I wonder if something like the T'liss class if we will have the option of using the Enterprise version instead of the TOS version. If its C-Store only I probably won't care enough to buy it for the short time I'd be in it. I wonder if it will even be available as a T5 refit/retrofit, the Connie people might flip a lid if there are T5 TOS/Ent ships running around.
Wish there was some information on if there would be Romulan ships that carry fighters. Looks like the Ha'apax has a rather large auxiliary craft.
Love to see the interiors on these.
While I am still a little sad that some Romulan designs like from SFC3 and Armada aren't available to Cryptic, I'm going to give some kudos to the ship builders, these are looking hot!
I'm actually stoked about the TOS ship. I just think it is one of the cooler looking things from that series. If there's a higher tier version of it in the C-Store... shoot, I just might bite on that.
Of course I'll have to buy the C-Store D'Deridex. No surprise that once again the cool ship people actually want is condemned to Tier IV hell, as that's been standard practice.

Interesting. Most of the ships look nice, except the T'liss. This one is really ugly. I hope it's just a start, because we haven't seen science ships yet.

Doesn't seem like there will be more free ships. We will have to pay for the rest.
"The ships below will be available to players for free upon leveling up. Other Romulan ships, such as Refits and Retrofits of these vessels, as well as completely unique ships, will be available for purchase through the C-Store."
"Romulan ships tend to be large and heavy, making them somewhat slower and less maneuverable than comparable Federation and Klingon Defense Force ships. The iconic D?deridex, for example, is larger and more resilient than the Galaxy ? but considerably slower as a result"? ~ Blog #3
...and, that is why I will become a Federation allied Romulan.
Instead of trying to use the Romulan ships, I will stick to the Federation escorts. If the speed of the Federation cruisers are any indication, the Romulan ships will be floating bricks in space. I never thought there would be something slower than a Federation cruiser.
*brings Romulan Warbird close to an enemy ship*
"Set auto-destruct and abandon ship."
"...but, Captain! We haven't taken any damage!"
*shrugs*
"We will have better luck in surviving an attack while in the escape pods."
As long as the other aspects of the faction are fine, the allied choosing option will makeup for what is lost.

Me, I got the exact opposite impression - I'm 95% certain that we'll have to pay to upgrade our ships through the C-Store, and the comparisons are only there to let you choose your T5 ship or something.
If this is the case, I'm going to have to grind up A LOT of zen - or just use Vestas (planning on getting the bundle, it'll take 21 days of maximum refining on my 3 characters at the current prices, and I'll have 40 zen left to spare - not counting any reserves I may have at the moment, which would be quite insignificant)
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Does this mean no Romulan Fleet ships?
(I hope so... I wouldn't want to see Fleet D'deridex requiring T5 shipyard...)

I'd like clarification on this myself, as the statement does seem to be contradictory. Probably have to wait till they hit Tribble for testing or they do the stats blog though to find out.

And no Scimitar as well I see.

And will we get a proper Valdore at fleet level?
It's not as powerful.
