    yes they can

it's called ignoring, which plenty of dipsticks do

And that is when I start kiting and making their lives difficult, while I complete the objectives without them. :)

And if only one or two teammates are not responding to you, try PMs. They can't miss the "TNG Door-chirp" noise.

Still laughing. After you do a few hundred STF's you'll figure out why. Been there done that on the 10% in normals. And no. PM's don't work either. They don't have their chat screens turned on and they more than likely don't know how to turn them on.

    ICE

4 of us knew what we were doing, 5th one was flying a mirror sov. He didn't understand or care about the whole 'repair your damage' concept, the golden 10% rule or what the word teamwork means.

Everyone else was equipped with components so in the event of any premature explosion, we could repair damage. He wasn't and didn't care.

The really annoying thing is, this was a fleet team and it's not the first time he has done this.
    It won't happen again.

I won't bore you with the details - same as usual

Warp in to ISE - and there are a few LvL 40 free ships(no problem as they can be built to do the job)

So there is one Star Crusier - Captain Name : "Kirk"

Ship Name: "U.S.S - I Kirk out on Weekends"

Right then I had a very bad feeling this was going to go south fast.

And it did - Kirk Blew up in the first min - and things went down hill from there.

It was so dysfuntional I had to leave and take the penalty as it was so bad. It was not just Captain Kirk either.

As far as I am aware it's only @handles

A character name and ship name are not unique. You can't look them up on any system/mail, and many people could have the exact same toon name/ship name(doubtful in this case) but I have see many toons named George and their ship called the U.S.S Washington - just an example - I have seen many others.

The whole point of why it's funny is not what he did(all I said is he blew up in the first min) it's the "Kirk" weekend warrior that we all love those guys - named to boot! - that made me go " oh no I have a bad feeling this mission is going south"

Cure, we warp in and some guy asks who will guard kang. Instead of responding I zoom forward in my escort and kill right bops. Then I move to middle cube and I see a sci ship ignoring bops and shooting at probes. After dispatching bops myself I ask the guy why wasn't he shooting them. "But I was". Yes, he killed bops so hard that they were shooting Kang. Second guy wrote to me " why don't you guard it then you can do such a great Fing job". Third guy: "if your not happy do it yourself". After killing one probe I look back and see left bops torping Kang. Yes, left bops from initial spawn. Both wiseguys were dead, killed by left side initial spawn. I blurted something about them killed by one-shot bops and chose leaver penalty. When I appeared back at ESD, one of them messaged me (with smile) "yeah not in my cruser so its hard to stay alive".
This one took a bit over 2 minutes...

That's hilariously full of inaccuracies considering I was in the match.
Cure, we warp in and some guy asks who will guard kang. Instead of responding I zoom forward in my escort and kill right bops.
One sci ship and another guy in an Escort have gone to middle Cube, the Escort is ignoring the BoPs and the sci ship has just blown one up when I move to middle cube and I see a sci ship I assume they're ignoring bops and shooting at probes, even though they're not and are also being attacked by the Cube. After dispatching bops myself, not the ones the sci ship was chasing he got no backup fsom me, I insult the guy and type '@name ffs why aren't you killing BoPs. "But I was". Says the confused ship now healing and throwing extend shields over the Kang "Yes, you killed bops so hard that they were shooting Kang" Second guy wrote to me " why don't you guard it then you can do such a great Fing job". Third guy: "if your not happy do it yourself". After killing one probe I look back and see left and middle and my bops torping Kang. Yes, left bops not from initial spawn but from an altogether spawn. Both the new guy in their Cruiser and the sci ship who had been attacked by a Cube were dead, killed by bops since noone else was thinking to guard them. I blurted something about them killed by one-shot bops and chose leaver penalty. When I appeared back at ESD, one of them messaged the Team (with smile) "yeah not in my cruser so its hard to stay alive".
This one took a bit over 2 minutes...

Fixed that., and strangely the match went ro much smoother when the whiner left. Including getting the Optional, no BoPs got the Kangs health down past 95% the whole match and the rest of the team cleared all the probes and Cubes with no problem using the MRRMLL method Even despite their being a newbie to that game present who admitted not being used to that map and match type yet.

Before that there was a Khitomer Accord. Two Scis (one was me), two guys in Escorts and a Cruiser. Guy in an Andorian Escort zooms forwards aiming to fly right over the Tac Cube from the looks of it. But noone else moves until he stops and starts shooting at the Cube. That goes down, Cruiser and the non-zoomer Escort go right, zoomer Escort goes for Probes on left leaving us two scis to deal with the gens. Which we do, including the two Cubes that spawn with a couple invisitorp explosions, but still. Right side have only got one Transformer down and are blowing up the two Cubes. Then we see the optional. It's failed, and two more Probes warp through the gate before we get there and keep the entire field clear. 5 Probes had gotten through... because zoomscort had run off. It did finish eventually, and took pleading with the AFKer to come and help, but it took aaaages.

Will I think the big problem is stuff like this - Normal should be where people go to LEARN the tactics of the mission before moving on to Elite. What is the point of not following the script for when you move up to Elite. Sure there are lots of Elite players doing normal for some reason, but there are lots of new players - by not following the set script of how an elite should go you end up with bad players moving up to elite.

If they want to learn the ropes then they need to do it in organized groups. If you are trying to do a Normal STF with a 10% rule in an unorganized pug, good luck with that.

Is today hooky day for the middle schoolers?

Did the College Professors tell their students to go home and write their reports and tell them if they spell three words correctly they get their doctorates?

Did the High Schools make STO a mandatory class in which the students must make Vice Admiral in one week or they fail?

Is there a new contest going on that I don't know about in which the person who blows the most STF's is the winner?

It's been a BAD day for me in STF. Two complete fails in CSN, a thirty minute ISN and a hour long KSN.

I'd write the details but just read the ones that are already written. They're all the same.

Haven't had a bad experience in an STF for a while, but then I stopped pugging a while ago. So shall we call it, interesting moments.

1)Fleet Support calls vo'quv on middle cube in CSE, cube dies. Recoverable, but ouch

2)IGE, the darned optional!!!!!!!! Last run we had 8/10 and a min left, so we rushed. Everyone died, but it made for a good laugh afterward

3)KASN for optional run, invisiprobe got through. Oh well.

But other than that, only time I get a touch irritated is when I guard CSE all 3 lanes, and that 1 or 2 people dont understand the meaning "ignore the bops, ignore my raptors, ignore left neghvars"

I suspect somethin like 3 players needed to kill the probes on one side and nobody cared about 5km distance from donatra.

    I had one last night.

Infected space elite. We all warped in and killed the Tact cube with little trouble. At that point I'm thinking it was going great and the rest will go smoothly as all successful runs start out that way for me (I can usually tell if it's going to be bad if it takes forever to kill the cube). I was sadly mistaken.

3 out of the four players headed over with me to the left side and start firing on the cube over the transformer and generators, only they seemed to arrive over there a bit later than me (so I was by myself for longer than should have been). I then got nearly one-shot killed in my Siege Destroyer by the cube (and I'll admit that is somewhat my fault as I don't have the greatest set for shields, deflector, or impulse yet). I then blew up shortly after because the toon I was using is my KDF tactical captain who I am still working on equipment-wise and I do not have a lot of heals set up/or possible to set up on the ship.

So I re-spawned and headed back over to help finish the cube. By that time the one player who did not attack the cube had blown at least two of the generators (apparently way before I re-spawned) and then headed to 9 km behind the other Transformer and went AFK. You can probably imagine what happened next: we got overloaded with nanite spheres heading for the transformer and failed the optional because we could not kill them fast enough. Mostly because two of the other people concentrated on killing the transformer instead of helping recover on the nanite situation. Not to mention I kept blowing up as the person teaming on the spheres with me was trying to repulse them instead of firing on them (which would be more helpful if repulsing them away instead of down..at least he was trying though). Meanwhile, the player who went AFK was still AFK (in fact for the remainder of the match other than him commenting that the final tact cube was chasing him. He did not respond to my attempt to figure out what he was doing just sitting there...of course I know now).

Thankfully we somehow, with a little team work, got one that side under control and killed the transformer. Not easy considering we are now one player short because of the AFK/leacher. Unfortunately we also had trouble on the other side because the others actually helping me made the same mistake of not following the 10 percent rule. We were back to nanite overload. Up to that point I had not said much in the chat but I decided it was time to take the lead. I got everyone to attack the nanites first and then attack the transformer. It took a few tries but we eventually got things under control and finished the game.

Now I could have been a prick like some are and dropped the word noob all over the place but I am a nice guy so I thanked everyone (who actually helped) for getting things under control and helping to finish the game. The inexperienced I can work with and be civil to, the leachers/AFK people I almost cannot. I've found it's pointless to complain to the AFK themselves as they will do what they do. Doesn't seem anything is really being done about them by Cryptic right now either. I mean we all COULD get through the STFs on elite a lot faster (even on PUGs) if we all worked together and knew the strategy. Also why just sit there AFK for who knows how long (perhaps an hour) waiting for your team to finish? You could simply help out and get it done in 10-15 minutes instead.

Yeah if you have a decent enough team in the "normal" version you don't really have to worry about the 10% rule.
    1. PUG.
    2. Decent Team.

    Pick one.

That's why I go for 10% when doing normals with PUGs. I won't ask the others to, but I try to equalize the damage regardless.

this is by far the best thread in the forum.

i just leveled up a sci alt to 50. since this alt is not well geared yet i decided to pug an infected ground normal. i have not done any normals in ages.

we do pretty well throughout the whole mission till the last room. right before we get to the last room someone just quits, so now down to 4.

we get to the last room and we clear it right, left, middle. 2 of us go to the station on the right while the other 2 run all over the place shooting like crazy.

i send a message through chat several times trying to get one of them's attention explaining we need 3 people to do the next step.

one falls into plasma near the entry ramp so i revive him thinking maybe now i can get his attention. nope, he continues to run around like crazy shooting everything.

it takes 3 to lower shields so after 10 -15 minutes i thank the one guy for trying and told him we may as well bail since the other 2 refused to come help.

    pretty aggravating.

This is in responce to the AFK thing that you responded to.

It's called FARMING. People who aren't interested in helping out but want to collect the goodies that come about in the STF's. It was most popular in the RED ALERT missions when they first came out and spread to STF's later in the game. I would estimate 1 out of 5 STF's has a Farmer hiding somewhere in the distance.

Another popular method of Farming is to set their weapons on stun and chase a probe, sphere or BOP off into the sunset. It looks like they are playing but they arent.

I'd have to say that maybe 90% of my pugs are rather unspectacular and often over in decent times. Maybe after you do as many as I do you'll figure it out. Like I said earlier, many people who see Rainbow/Technicolor beams pounding away at a probe for several minutes might think that's the norm if they don't do many STF's.

Off to do another, have a great day.

Sigh. The Cure Elite (space) is like a magnet for grievers/noobs.

Can't remember when i have had a coherent team in there.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I love the cure. Elite or normal. You see it all there. A good team can finish it in just a few minutes. A bad team, well you know how it goes. If I want to rack a few quick omegas I just do a Cure. It's always the first one I do in a Reputation Bonus event.

    Next is Infected.

I don't really care for Kitimer (spelling). A bad pug can take forever and the winnings aren't worth the time. I usually only do it with fleet.

In the event I ever pug, I always go KASE, just to see how fail people can be. I once had a match where 3 guys were going at this cube and just couldn't kill it. The tac cube took 10 minutes to kill, we missed the opt, and donatra... well let's just say she had a field day.

Which is why I go KASE. For the laughs it never fails to give.
