In the event I ever pug, I always go KASE, just to see how fail people can be. I once had a match where 3 guys were going at this cube and just couldn't kill it. The tac cube took 10 minutes to kill, we missed the opt, and donatra... well let's just say she had a field day.
Which is why I go KASE. For the laughs it never fails to give.
3 guys against a cube and problems? I wreck a tac cube solo..
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

It was quite pitiful. And that was what made it hilarious, especially because I can destroy a regular cube in under 10 seconds with most of my toons (cept my fed engi in a cruiser, that takes a little longer, usually 30-40 depending on crits). Last night I actually killed one in a single pass with my Chel'gret on my KDF tac toon. Was highly amusing. Did it without tricobalts too.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
It is actually quite surprising how many fail players are in STFs.
Since April of last year, when my first character hit VA, I was running CSE constantly (PUGs, of course, like the idiot I was) to get that accolade. Finally, I'm fed up, and went to the PublicEliteSTF channel and got a CSE group.
First try on CSE with a group from that channel = Optional.
Ten months of constant PUGs on CSE = Optional always failed.
Tells ya something. And I even got compliments from the rest of the team for buffing and healing them as a cruiser.

I don't really care for Kitimer (spelling). A bad pug can take forever and the winnings aren't worth the time. I usually only do it with fleet.
I like KSE. I can solo one side, so unless a PUG really suck they can take out the other. Usually I tell them I'll take the probes on one side so they should all work on the other. :P
I've two-manned CSE before, so I decided to see how far I could get solo. I'm running a fleet tactical escort retrofit with fleet DHCs and turrets.
So I go into it, and everyone warps out. I head off and kill the first round of spawns, take out a lower nanite on the left, then rush back and kill the next round of spawns. Basically I did this for the nine bottom probes. Then of course, I have to destroy a top one and release the negh'var and raptor. I do that, rush to kill the BoP spawns, but the negh'var is too much and it kills me. After another death the Kang's gone. I knew that was going to happen, but still for being solo I think I went pretty far.
In terms of how a normal CSE goes, that was a hideous failure. (but normal has five people, not one)
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

Yesterday I bailed out of a STF for a third time since I started playing STO a year ago. The team was ok (not great, but would have got the optional without putting a sweat) and all, but the connection was horrendous. My ship was going forward and backwards the whole time, one second I'm at full shields, the next I'm at 18% hull (and consequently die). I simply couldn't play....and dying with my main character is a major event (happens occasionally when I try to take the fire from Neggy, Raptor and Cube in CSE and most of my defensive buffs are on cooldown or when I receive 3 HY torpedoes in a time frame of 30 seconds).
Recently I'm having nightmares before I dare join KASE (which I don't fail to do regularly) - it's been far worse than CSE lately. I'm forced to deal with 2-3, sometimes 4 cubes - players disregard cubes and let them wander through the map. What happens if a probe guard can't handle it!? (which is the case most of the time). I'm observing this tendency the last 2 months and it becomes more and more frequent. The other thing is the (unnecessary) change of tactics midway, or the pure cluelessness of players, otherwise having top of the line zen store ships.
So..in a few words - I'm not surprised when 2 players go to a transformer, spawn a cube and go PUFF and then concentrate on the former, letting the latter get to me...I'm even kind of expecting it.

Seeing this a lot lately... you also sometimes have one dumbass go away from the rest of the team in a completely different direction, kill 2 transformers and high tail away from the cube as if the borg queen's gonna probe his nether regions...

This one just kinda made me laugh at my own stupidity........
CSE - Near the beginning, on the Middle group. I'm flying the Kumari w/ the little guy cannons that follow you. I kinda drifted over to the left side(as you are facing it), get to the second level of probes - then the Borg Negh'Var spawns and I am way to close to it..........first thing the BNV does is hit me with an Isometric charge........everything went slow - I saw it bounce of me, then one of my flying cannons, then back to me....(I can't remember how many times those things bounce)....then boom full shield and hull(for what it's worth on the Kumari) gone....puff I go into oblivion...I'm pretty sure my whole team did a giant eyeroll......
Just finished the worst for me. It was Conduit. Started pretty good, everybody did the 10% and got both sides down. Only real problem early on was that some of the spheres were left alive, and by the time we got to the gate there were still a few spheres running around. Teamwork completely fell apart at this point, and half the team was getting killed in 1-v-1 fights with spheres, while the cube was doing its one-hit invis weapon kill from 20k. Game ended when the cube warped over to the spawn point and started reskilling the players with one-hit kills. Two of the players just gave up and disconnected, another flew to the map boundary, while me and the 5th fellow were getting instakilled by the cube. I was at 90 second respawns and finally just gave up. Pointless. I have 3 niobium consoles and it was reskilling with that stupid invis weapon. Really, at this point I'm just going to go with the position that devs could not make the game work so they put in a cheat for the computer side.
Really, at this point I'm just going to go with the position that devs could not make the game work so they put in a cheat for the computer side.
well. they actually did that. tho you the proof is more like HSE not ISE. I mean you can pretty much solo that cube, if your timers are not frakked up (still alone you should not die more than twice, on a bad day, esp not three of you, lol
How is that proof of anything? It doesn't even show your combat log.
oh you are one of them elite players with their combatlogs and statistics proof... this was proof enough for me, why question him, when there is a viable proof???
Also the hard-points from where the weapons are fired are not necessarily the same as the hard-point for determining the distance.
A prime example for this are the gates. A player can sit at 8 km from the gates and still be safe from weaponry from the gate because the gate weapons are located on top of the gate.

Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I just did a Khitomer Accord Normal, where a player couldn't kill a probe by himself. While I was beating on a transformer, I was keeping an eye on the gate defense. This guy would attack a probe as it came out of a portal, keep attacking it as it went to the gate, and the probe would go through the gate.
The STF took almost 30 minutes to complete. We lost the objective because of time. 9/10 probes made it through. It would have been 10/10 if I hadn't been destroying probes AND destroying transformers.
I'm a sci/sci but I think I was top DPS by far in that one.
The guy that couldn't kill a probe must have had some wonky ship setup. He kept shooting really weak tricobalts that couldn't even dent anything they hit. But after the tric nerf maybe that's to be expected?
Worst STF experiences....gonna get a lot worse it seems.
There is a resurgence of the rumor that failing the optional rewards better gear.
All day today, in every PUG, at least one or two people failing the optionals, intentionally.
No response to team chat, no response to PMs.
Always doing just what's necessary to fail the optional, but otherwise playing spectacularly, no rainbow boats, solid DPS, just being ********s.
Really, really annoying. Time to go back to fleet teaming only again.
Granted, in every case I got a piece of MK XII gear....so maybe there is something to the rumor, but dammit Jim, I need omega marks, not XII purple dual tetryon cannons DMGx3.
My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

'cause a log would show if he got killed by a torp, a HY torp, or a volley?
While I'm not questioning his story, I still agree that the screenshot isn't proof of anything. Showing those logs in the screenshot, would also show that he really did get killed by the cube. For all we know it could have from spheres firing from within 10 km, but outside the camera-angle, or a stack of plasma-fire slowly ticking down...
In today's bad STF Experiance (so far) A character with a female tactical catian who's only interaction in team chat was "..." (which I assume is some sort of command to do something in their mind) sat back the entire match of KAGE never directly engaging in combat, using security teams and quantum shadows to engage the borg went off on a tangent about how me and the other 'newbies' needed to stay to normal STFs after we got wiped by on the last couple of heavy Tac's.
They were clearly a much better player what with them being 30 meters back and around a corner not doing anything. I should be shamed for not using their magnificent tactics.

ps--I thought I grabbed the ~40k damage floater in that screen but I see now that I didnt
You were probably within 10k when it fired off that torp, and you got out to 15k, but the torp followed you. Happens all the time.

There I was.
I had just selected CSN.
Countdown was to 5 seconds.
Power goes out.
The game dropped but I'm on a battery backup so the computer and internet didn't.
I grab a glass of Dr Pepper.
I reboot STO and figure I'm not going to be in a game so I let it verify the files.
This takes a few minutes.
The game boots and low and behold, I'm in the CSN.
Six minutes of the STF have gone by.
I see four ships at the Kang.
I think 'Oh Goody.'
I fly right and none of the nodes had been touched.
I start killing nodes.
Now all four of the other ships come to the cube and start shooting.
Three have Rainbow/Technicolor beams and one has Skittles.
I think, 'Oh Goody.'
I see the Kang is swarmed.
I fly in and kill all the Borg and send the Kang a heal.
The Kang is at 79%.
I fly back and continue on the first cube.
All four of the other ships follow a BOP back to the Kang.
First cube dies and I fly to cube two.
One of the nodes is already dead.
I kill the others with no help and start on the cube.
Time is down to 5 minutes.
All four of the other ships show up and start on the cube.
The Kang is again swarmed so I fly back and kill the borg.
I heal the Kang and fly back to the Cube.
I kill the cube.
All four of the other ships follow a Raptor back to the Kang.
I fly to Cube 3.
We're down to just under 3 minutes.
All four of the other ships are working on the spawn from Cube 3.
I get the cube down to 3 nodes and holler, 'A Little Help Here!'
No responce.
All four are chacing the Borg Spawn which is nowhere near the Kang.
We're down to 1 minute and I say, 'HELP AT THE CUBE!'
No responce.
I can't save the optional, out of time.
I kill the cube and hail the Kang.
All four are still working on the two Warships.
I type, 'If you don't know what the Priorities are, DON'T DO STF's. And lose the stupid Rainbow/Technicolor Beams!'
No Responce.
We kill the carrier.
I type, 'Worst bunch I've seen in Days...'
No Responce.
The good part?
I somehow picked up 25 Omega Marks and a Borg NP.
