I support the sentiment, but believe this to be a bad idea. The nature of this thread is that of wanting CHANGE. Change necessarily increases entropy, for the entropy of a closed system must always increase. CHANGE IS BAD.

Let us not forget the lessons of S7 so quickly. People thought that the system of random proto drops was bad. They wanted it CHANGED, and they got it: Now there is not a single thing you can actually have without paying an arm and a leg for.

The KDF's present state may not be ideal, but it could be worse...and if you get it changed, it WILL be.

    CHANGE IS BAD: OPPOSE CHANGE.

Then I suggest you throw away your computer and climb back on a tree, because we didn't have those house and computer thingiys back in the old days either.;)

Thanks for the thoughtful post doffingcomrade :)

From my perspective though, continuing change is inevitable in STO as it continues to distance itself from its old P2P model and move closer towards PWE's F2P model.

Season 7 was the clearest indication yet of how Cryptic/PWE feel it's best to extend/change STO (barring the introduction of lockboxes) and it's something that saddens me somewhat.

Whilst PWE's Asian model may be successful for them in terms of profits, I've yet to hear anyone that plays their other games say anything particularly complimentary about it.

It's something I've been thinking about a lot in the last few days, and in order to keep this campaign and thread relevant I'll be posting my thoughts here soon.

I guess what's bothering me most though is that it all seems focussed around short-term gain rather than long-term sustainability - I'd like to think STO will be around for some time to come but that seems unlikely when the bulk of Cryptic's revenue is coming from lockboxes - how long can they continue to put out ships like the Dominion ones and retain the player's interest? It's also a volatile model - what happens if/when they release a ship that nobody wants?

A better model would be a system that makes Dilithium ubiquitous in a way that's a choice for the player - making lots of services and perks available for small amounts rather than the outrageous sums required for most Dilithium or Dilithium->Zen purchases in-game.

Anyway, more thoughts on this soon and thank you everyone for your support!!

    Stay disenchanted! :)

This is inevitably so, but it does not mean we should turn it into a race for the bottom of the barrel by demanding even more change.

Indeed, this is why we must support the status quo. People are always loudest when demanding change, ignoring the fact that change inevitably worsens the situation, as the laws of physics demand it. We must speak up for the status quo. Every time things have gotten CHANGED, it has gotten WORSE. Remember when the KDF still had missions worth doing, and then that was CHANGED and now there are NONE?

NO CHANGE! LEAVE THINGS AS THEY ARE. DON'T MAKE IT WORSE. Let the Feds head for the bottom of the barrel, Klingons are about using the same old **** over and over. Because Change Is Bad.

I remember doing the STF's when it was all random salvage with the people who used to complain bitterly about never getting prototypes. I found it funny cause these same people were the ones who needed on every bit of worthless salvage and loot they saw. I wonder if it was coincidence? But yeah, I would actually go back to the old random loot drops. Maybe if people were, I don't know, less greedy? Maybe they'd find some satisfaction.

Anyway that's not why I'm here. Got distracted sorry. How's this thing actually getting along? If you don't want to have post buried under sea of posts feel free to pm me.

    Hi vitzh and lir!

well rather than try to bump this (which I know is frowned upon) I've left it largely for people to add their support and/or comments.

In the meantime, if you're 'disenchanted' with STO why not use this thread to say why? And what could be done by Cryptic and/or the players to change that?

If like me, once you were happy to put money into this game and now you're not - or not *as* happy, why is that? And what would make you want to start putting money back into STO?

I have a post I've been working on that I'll put up soon which is my take on this and some ideas that I think would improve things for both the players and Cryptic.

Let's try to keep it constructive though, we want people to see what we're campaigning for will benefit the Devs (and PWE's bottom-line) as much as it will all the players :)

    Qapla'!

Here's something that's annoyed me lately. Cryptic have quite literally DESTROYED my ship build to the point where if I wanted to fix things on my ship I'd need a respec token. I was wondering if you could add to your list of demands that if Cryptic are going to nerf something to oblivion they provide the players FREE Skill retrain tokens. Regardless if they are effected or not. Quite literally I cannot use my ship now effectively.

I'll be heading home shortly and ALL KDF toons will be switched to the "Disenchanted" title :)

Fed ones will be switched to "Soldier of the Empire" or anything I think is fitting for support :D

I support this, and i have to say, its very refreshing to see someone taking a nice adult approach rather than a quick rage on the forums.

Regarding the gameplay, you are correct, the klinks do need an increase in playability, but they say a lot of this will come in the may update.

    But...

There is ONE reason why i am not disenchanted with the KDF. That is because all the people who play KDF as their main somehow seem down to earth, friendly, fun people. I post a new thread in the forums on the Klingon side, and i get nice responses. I post something fed side, and i get trolls.

I speak to new players on the chat in-game, and i meet nice new people. I go on chat in fed, and there is either a)trolls or b) people who believe it is actually the 24th century and take the game waaaay to seriously. Not sociable at all. I'm all for roleplay, but not to the point where i fashion my bedroom into a BoP Captains ready room! Don't think the missus would be too appreciative!

The KDF's biggest weakness seems to have created its biggest strength, and that is the players themselves. Somehow this rag tag faction full of smelly klingons (guilty), barbaric Gorns, TRIBBLE Orion slaves (not complaining) and many other random species, has attracted the best quality players i have ever known in any game i've played.

To all KDF players, no matter what fleet you belong to, or what species you are, There is a lot of love for you all! :)

My advice is this, Cryptic will only boost the KDF, once they see the KDF as something which will make them money. What we need to do, is instead of downing it all the time, you all need to get fed side, and PROMOTE the KDF, sing about our BoP's, spread the word about the almost naked Orions strolling around everywhere, explain the bloodwine fountains to them, say anything, but make sure its positive!

Whilst we wait for May, we can all stick together and keep the KDF strong.

KDF players, you're all AWESOME! :)

hehehe, not completely full; only one of my gorn is barbaric, the other is actually rather nice...though, being a slave, he has to be

and my orion isn't TRIBBLE, though she's got looks, and knows how to use them

also, if you have any thoughts about buying one of those orion slaves, remember that they rule the syndicate, not the males, and they'll rule you too if they can :P

So your Orion fem isn't TRIBBLE, just tastefully nekked! :p

I bet your "nice" gorn soon changes when he's faced with an enemy, and decides to chow down on their heads! :D

not even close to nekkid; full-length pants, though they are leather, same with the shirt that does nothing to diminish her...assets, but also doesn't display them for everyone to see, and a headpiece framing ponytailed raven black hair; basically, a cross between TRIBBLE and modest

and my runty gorn never gets up close and personal with an enemy; he doesn't even have leap or bite

actually, they do; they have the atrox and heavy escort carriers, plus the jem'hadar escort carrier and dreadnought for those who like to lockbox

and while they have no direct equivalent to the BoPs, the peregrines and elite scorpions come damn close

Done :) Love the idea :D

There was another thread months ago that had a more radical approach to make the KDF voices heard. Many people were in, I think he was going to create a Facebook page too for the cause to show how passionate we are for this faction. Others felt that we should wait for May and see what happens to the KDF. Neverthless I copied the link and sent a message to my Fleet Leader so that he could spread the word to my fleetmates. When I come to check again, there's no thread, I guess it got deleted. It's name was: possibilitesKDF Must-Read for anyone that knows what happend.

I'll the same I did with the other one, I will pass this along to my Fleet Leader so that he can take a look and send to everyone else and I'll keep checking this for any updates. I guess this appeal is more peaceful so to speak xD Any idea for a channel in game for the Disenchanted?

Thanks for everyone that still keep supporting this faction :)

I've checked my Feds' title choices and we have Descendant of Kahless or Champion of the Empire as probably the best choices to show KDF support. Both titles have merit, IMO. what does everyone else feel?

    Hey everyone!!!

Thank you all for continuing to keep this campaign going in my absence :) I've been busy IRL this past week dealing with some pressing matters but I've been keeping an eye on this thread and I'm thrilled to see more of you joining our peaceful protest and adding your comments.

This weekend I'm going to be finishing up on a couple of lengthy posts that I want to share with you and the rest of the community - in the meantime please continue to post and comment and share ideas here to help keep this thread alive and current (nearly 6000 views now!).

    Still disenchanted ;)

    Kaz.

P.S. 'Champion of the Empire' sounds good for any Fed that wants to champion our cause - also, several players have renamed their ships 'Disenchanted' (as have I) so that's another option - I know how precious we are about about our ships though so don't feel obliged :)

Signed. My KDF toon is only around level 25, so she is unable to skip to the missions to get the disenchanted title. Because of this fact, my Fed toon is going to be using the "Champion of the Empire" title.
