Beneath the Raptors Wings was a book I read a couple of years ago. It was about the war between the UFP and the Rommy Star empire.
Maybe we are looking at the end of peace between the Federation and the Rommies after they coup their current leader.

I'm really trying to not get my hopes up.

But if this does mean a Romulan faction and more KDF missions...

Well, I'm gonna need more character slots.

And again, if we get a Romulan faction, I want a Spectre Class ship. But I'll settle for a D'deridex.

According to Memory Alpha, "Those who March Beneath the Raptor's Wings" were the Vulcans who opposed Surak's teachings in the Time of Awakening on Vulcan.

Maybe a Romulan/Vulcan war in Season 8? Much like the KDF/FED war going on in lower level play currently.

EDIT: Presumably "Those who March Beneath the Raptor's Wings" became the Romulan Star Empire.

Seems to me like potentially a poor move, if it is a playable Romulan faction.

Don't get me wrong, now... if people want to play Romulans on Romulan ships, I'm all for that. It's just that the KDF are already way behind the Federation in terms of content, ships, costumes, etc., and Cryptic has said that they've lost money on KDF ships in the C-Store because of how few players play KDF relative to the Federation.

If they launch a Romulan faction, Cryptic is going to have to do everything right immediately to grip the Romulan player and keep them there, or we're just going to see another KDF in the game, sorely lacking for new things.

Unless they've given up on KDF as a lost cause, and are trying to start fresh with the Romulans. Maybe the Tal Shiar stages a political and military coup of the Klingon Empire, and the new Romulan faction absorbs all existing KDF players and ships?

In short, I don't really have a lot of faith in this game supporting a third faction when it's not really doing so great by its second.

    Romulan faction coming?

This will be interesting how they pull it off, especially for those who have already invested a lot of time and money into the Fleet Starbases of their current faction. Did they say one idea they had was a mini-faction for a few levels and then joined the KDF or FED after their 'story' was told?

I'd love to see the Dominion added in as a faction after the Romulans.

I don't think we're going to see a playable Romulan faction just yet.

I DO think we are going to see the return of Sela (we all recall where we last saw her right?)

I strongly suspect we will also see the fleshing out of the KDF faction (not quite fully fleshed out i am afraid). The KDF faction needs something like 20-40 missions made to establish the KDF storyline, without leaving allready established content hanging. It would be nice to have something like the Federation factions legacy of system patrol missions (the original way the Fed players leveled up thier toons) but to make that work right may just require adding a couple sector blocks unless they can set up multiple mission in the same star systems. (certain it can be done, but can be a tad tricky. a little database sleght of hand required)

Still, hold to the dream Romulan faction types. I do belive the ground work is being laid in story line to bring a fully playable Romulan faction into being. It's going to take just a little bit of time though. Some rewite of the current FE's so Rom faction players can run them (and maybe some cleaning them up from the KDF pov so some rather jaring inconsistancies are cleaned up... I still want to challange the Gorn envoy in the 2800 to an honor duel, the gutless P'tak!-from a KDF pov- and theres other little momonets in some of the FE's that could use some work)

The Romulan Faction is going to need something like 50-60 missions made, a couple social zones, several "base" zones. Romulan fleet starbase system set up. Various and assorted faction setups done. BOFF"s and DOFF's, a minimum of 6-9 Starship models (and varients internal setups to the ship so that you have cruiser / escort / scout / science / carrier / battleships etc.) done. Romulan ships would be a good place to stay with a small number of actuall models, but have a variety of subclasses with differing stats and BOFF/Console/slot layouts. You see a Dedarix warbird, but is it the Cruiser, Battle Cruiser, Strike Cruiser, Exploration Cruiser, Support Cruiser, Carrier, Strike Carrier, Dreadnaught, or Battleship version of the hull? Very Romulan that you wouldn't know unless the Romulan tells you.. or opens up a can of whop hull on ya!

guess we'll just have to see eh?

I hope it is a Romulan Faction. Romulans were who I wanted to play as when I first pre-ordered this game.

I DO think we are going to see the return of Sela (we all recall where we last saw her right?)

With Ms. Crosby coming back to play Tasha, she may do a bit for Sela as well. For all we know, Sela was part of the forces fighting against the Enterprise-C, what with her having been taken through the gateway and all. Ensuring that the C was not totally destroyed would be the only away to ensure her own survival, after all.

If it is a Romulan faction, I need my speech ready for the peasants

Greetings citizen of the Romulan star empire, it has been a long road, but we are rebuilding our empire. Thanks to us our empire will be whole again. The Federation, and their Klingon puppets will have you believe it was them who helped the Romulan people, but it was US who protect you, it is us who will make The Empire whole again. The Federation will try to trick you with their charity, but their so called help is a ruse for our conquest without them firing a shot. Let us not forget it was The Federation, and The Vulcans who caused the destruction of our home world. The Empire will be made whole again, The Federation will no longer be welcomed on New Romulus, and The Empire will return to it's former glory.

Long live the Star Empire, and long live the Tal Shiar

I think it'll probably be some story content in regards to reunification. IIRC, there was a scene in Enterprise where they were explaining the war during Surak's time, and one of the factions was described as "those who marched beneath the raptor's wings". Maybe maybe? :D

As someone who's actually more interested in the Romulans than the KDF, that's my thought as well. They so far haven't bothered to even edit shared content coherently to make sense for the KDF, and the library of actual KDF missions is tiny. It leaves a really bad precedent for the RSE.

God no. If they're following through with that whole "5-level mini faction" TRIBBLE then someone, please, shoot this idea down before it gets too far gone. If this is a Romulan faction, it needs to be fully fleshed out, and the KDF be damned.

I think this is spot on...

There has been so much drama regarding the Klingon faction they would be foolish to put out a third faction. How many times have they implied that the average ST fan is Federation-centric?

Though that is the danger of teasers... everyone gets their hope up beyond what they can deliver and are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

They need to deliver a few knockout surprises that exceed expectations before trying to hype up future content teasers and sneak peaks... A 15-20 mission faction isn't going to make as many people happy as the forum regulars may imply.

    Just ask the KDF fans...

I think you are going to be sorely disapointed.

Also, not really looking forward to more romulan content, I've had enough of them. I was really hoping for another sector block somewhere else.

Hope it isnt a new faction the kdf is still half done, storywise and content wise i.e cstore stuff for kdf only like costumes etc.

If they do a bare bones rom faction then. Shrugs, what are they smoking.

My guess tho as to what this means is that FE series 5 will be a New Romulous focused set of missions where you defend the new homeworld of romulans from sela and her forces. You might even be given a temporary lease of a ship to command similar to the way one of the missions gives u a kdf ship to control. But who knows tbh.

My two cents here is that a Romulan faction is way overdue. I know the boys in the KDF want more content, and that is understandable, but at the end of the day the series had started with the big 3 as the political superpowers. When the game came out, and the KDF limped on at the beginning, I was honestly wondering where the other superpower was in the star trek universe. With it not being in sight I figured that someone at cryptic dropped the ball on that one rather significantly. I have always wanted to see a romulan faction here, and after the whole beneath the raptor thing, I think, since so many people went 'faction' right away, I think their marketing department just shot the rest of perfect world in the face if they don't deliver the faction. A tie in with the KDF side mission wise would definitely solve people's want for the faction, and the KDF side being screwed content wise. Tie both sides into the same mission set. Done.

In the end though, the fact that there hasn't been a 3rd faction done in a universe that started with 3 superpowers politically, was a bit short sighted. Let's get that 3rd political power player in the game as is canon, and let's go into 3 way PvP matches and wreck stuff. If they are going to deny one of those political powers though, they should drop KDF till they are ready to allow the different powers to be playable. Not a popular sentiment, but let's get on track and allow other factions into the game starting with the big 3, and then move on from there to Cardassian maybe, and who knows from there. But if you are going to cut one of the big 3 out of the equation, might as well cut the other out also and go full fed and it would solve insane amounts of complaints and problems for the future.

Again, my two cents, someone else's turn now. Cheers all.

I'm guessing we'll see a half-hearted push to fill out the Klingon faction before Season 8 in order to dampen fan outrage at another half-done faction being added (Romulan). There will be initial fan excitement, then more complaining about how the Klingons are STILL not a complete faction/playable race and of course complaints about the lacking Romulan faction.
