I'm very happy with this change myself. I make plenty of good story missions that hardly get played even though they are all mostly 4 star missions. Perhaps if the daily requires you to play some of these good story missions more people will take an interest in our stories.
If anybody should be leaving the game, it should be you.
You should be happy the Foundry exists at all and that they didn't fix the exploit until now, instead of demanding Foundry authors get punished for their creativity and the fact that they are ADDING CONTENT EQUAL TO OR BETTER THAN CRYPTIC'S OWN.
It just occured to me that I should have said "mostly equal to or better" in that sentence. :P
I just hope they lower fleet mark or dilithium requirements. It's already a rather grindy MMO as it is..
Meh, at least the only cost of the Reputation system is EC. And not a lot of it. Basically you get 8 very cheap passives and 2 equally cheap actives, and only have to pay dilithium for the gear. Better than the fleet system, don't you agree?
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
If you're using the Foundry daily to just grind dilithium then you weren't playing Foundry missions in the first place. There was no point having a mission that people just used to grind. It was supposed to encourage people to play Foundry missions by getting a reward.
The fact that it was instead used as an exploit to grind dilithium means that it was not implemented right, and for that matter still isn't.
I don't care if you play Foundry missions or not, to be honest. My Foundry missions with or without daily have about the worst time/reward balance anyway.
That being said, if your problem is that it's hard to get dilithium that has nothing to do with the Foundry or Foundry daily. That's a separate issue, that at most was only being covered up by the Foundry daily.
Taking away the one click console on foundry wont encourage people to actually play the missions, I think who just use foundry to farm DL fast wont bother to play any other foundry mission.

The foundry designers believe that the change is a good thing as it will get their missions played more. Do not bet on it. There a couple of problems that I find with the foundry missions. I think the search is useless. There should be some method for tagging the missions that can be searched, ground, space, race of enemy, sector. Next there is little reward outside the daily officer reports. So it only rewards playing the shortest mission possible. If there is now a method of creating an end mission reward then it could be worth it. I think some control of the rewards based on what is encountered and how difficult it was to resolve. Last I think the Foundry itself is a poor tool. Considering the number of maps used in the game the number available for missions is pitiful. There is no way to design your own interior map. If you want a simple office the player goes to to start the mission you are out of luck. All that was done was to make it harder to get dil not improve the Foundry in any way.

Frankly I agree. There will be little to no improvement to player counts in S7.

The change in the investigate officer reports is primarily to stop the exploit. Getting more players to play the Foundry missions themselves was not the point.
You do realize that if they give out the exact criteria for what makes a mission count for the daily, you'll just have a bunch of people use that to make the shortest possible missions that still count for the daily and put those up?
They don't really need to tell us. It's likely that it will be figured out pretty quickly. So it really isn't helping to keep it hidden. It makes people think they're trying to pull a fast one and people get mad (even if there's nothing nefarious going on).
I'd like to know the criteria, not so that I can make the shortest mission possible, but so I can simply make sure my missions are acceptable. I'd be rather annoyed if I made a mission and it didn't meet the criteria. What do you do then? Start guessing at what's wrong with it. You could add extra enemies, way points, and conversations. And have no success. Perhaps all you're missing is 1 custom costume or something like that. Playing guessing games is not fun.

I've read that the mission needs to be at least 20 minutes long. I have no idea where this was posted in the forums since I was told through twitter. My question is, assuming that 20 minutes long is the criteria. How do they know how long a mission takes? A mission could take 20 minutes if you read all the text but less if you just skip through it.
I think some people are missing some obvious things.
Number one, gamers are notorious for finding shortcuts and exploits, that's why there are websites full of walkthroughs, cheat codes and exploits for almost every game out there.
Number two, most people don't run the foundry daily to play foundry missions, they play it to get dilithium and fleet marks quickly. Like it or not the daily was left untouched for over a year and in that time the community learned to use it as a quick way to get rewards. It became especially popular w/ players who had little time, too many characters or were in small fleets. It's not what it was designed for but never the less that's what it evolved into, and there are people that will still try and find a way to keep it as a quick way of getting their dilithium and marks, while others will simply move on to easier methods of getting what they need.
Add the two together and what's likely to happen is that in about a month people will have figured out which qualified missions are closest to the hot social zones, easiest to run and take the least amount of time and THOSE will be the ones that get played over and over. In turn, other foundry authors will note what the popular missions are and try to replicate them in hopes to get some plays as well.
This isn't going to bring more exposure to the foundry and this isn't going to get those obscure, unknown authors out in the spotlight. It might at first, while people are still trying to find the simplest way to get their reward, but once a system has been established on how to finish the daily as fast as possible players will just fall under a routine.
Granting the 1 click dailies were an exploit but unless ur a regular forum reader here I don't think they were as widely known about as has been infered. Been here since f2p and only found out about them 3 months ago. Fleetmates who have been here over a year had no idea they exsisted. Dstahl claims were not hitting our dilith refining caps like they would like. What I would like to see is an alternative, a game incentive for players to log in, especially casual players with only 1-2 hours they can log in.
Example:
Login u get a pop up announcement
Welcome to Star Trek Online try our new mini mission.
(Aka something like the nagus daily mission, reward 480 dilith and 50 Fleet marks)
This would be seperate from the investigate officer daily.
This would help casual players with little time feel like they are able to help out their fleets even if they are unable to invest a lot of time in game due to real life.
And who knows they might enjoy playing and decide to stick around.:)

Word of mouth is a powerful thing. F2P players might not be aware of them at first but then again neither were P2P players. Players start asking questions about why is there flashings of light, smoke, beaming animations or warping sounds coming from inside space stations. Then they find out about clicker missions.
Meh, guess I'll just use the fact that I have a job and spend some money to get my dilithium. oh wait thats an exploit right? to use RL money to advance in this game? oh right...never mind. Watch next thing they axe is the dili exchange.
I've been playing since STO went F2P, and i only found out about the clickies 3 weeks ago.
I used them to max effect for just around a week and a half.
I didn't come to rely on them like others did. I did them in addition to everything else i was doing. but that said, dilithium is in short supply these day, with all the TRIBBLE it is used for.
Dstahl has no clue what he's talking about if he thought leaving dilithium in STFs would result in too much in the economy. all S7 did was introduce a TRIBBLE ton of new things that require dilithium. now i have to decide whether or not I get a new star base component(only 2 of us working on it) or whether or not i get some borg gear for my ship....
and since when does Starbase 24 give fleet marks? i hadn't noticed that and i did a few the other day.
There's going to be a lot of complaining about the clickie's being removed but in the end it's the right decision.
How casual players who doesn't spend life on STO can win some little dilithium which is the base of your econommy ? So Maybe I can put my wife and my childs out and spend my life on sto to win some dilithium ? you see what I mean ?
People who spend time on the game win dilithium and, the non sense is that they are limited at 8000 per day and in other hand casual players won't buy anything because they must spend time for dilit. Of course I understand the concept of the non explore etc... but you must consider that people should have the right to choose his missions.

Kind Regards
I don't think anyone's arguing that.

This right here. I've played through some damn good foundry missions. Great story, engaging combat, rewarding resolution.
All were longer than an hour each.
I'm not willing to kill three hours for the IOR daily.
