    Exactly.
Early in the game's history, Cryptic vowed that only cosmetic items would be C Store only, items in the store other than cosmetic would be obtainable in-game without the need to cough up cash for C Points.
This was a falsehood, as the Galaxy X demonstrates.
Again, it's shown that Cash > Integrity.
Anything Cryptic says at this point, on ANY subject or topic, should be taken with a grain of salt, as their vows mean little, as demonstrated.

yes same with cryptics so called preorder programs and exclusive rewards no point ever going for exclusives in any cryptic game again as you know they all gonna end up in their Micro store anyhow.
SO any preorder deals and programs from cryptic is basically false marketing..

two things first the red. you can still get the galaxy-x outside of the C-store, but it is harder to do that. as for getting it in the game one could argue that you have to get your friends in the game and have fun with them in the game, so there for you are still getting it in the game, but I'm not one of those people who argue that.

also this is why we need to be able to exchange merits for C-points. that way you can still get it in the game.

Agreed, it would let us play for everything on the store and let them put whatever they damn well please up there except missions.

lets not turn this in to an exclusive fight. ( it will derail the ship issue, and will most likely get this thread closed ) :(

They said when they announced these exclusives that they would later be available on the cstore.

yes but then again remember Champions online trying to sell players ADVENTURE packs aka ingame content...
BUt i agree they should make ships gainable for ingame grind this means ppl actually will pay subs to grind wich the short cut would be just buy it and save that time...

it's nothing against you if you took it that way... I just don't want to see this turn in to another legal, moral stalemate like all of the other threads that covered this.

Not that I agree with the "exclusive" issues that Cryptic has started, but doesn't the placing of non-critical or fluff items (skins, uniforms, etc) in the c-store help the Dev's not have to constantly update if it was all just placed in game as a choice or outcome of leveling?
Wouldn't this cut-down on recode times and make things easier for the Dev's ?

Mostly when people complain that we're only getting 20 or 30 new missions in season two.

Even though you have to pay for it, you have to realize that this helps the game in the long-term. Purchasing from the c-store allows for more content to be added to the game. I enjoy buying from the c-store, I look forward to it, and it's a situation where I can support the authors directly.

What is the monthly fee for then? I expect to get all game content for the price of the monthly sub.

Why do gamers these days accept the double dip?

beacuse the subs fee is to low basically its the same sub fee from back when wow was new...
then u got salery prices and development cost skyrocketing and ppl still wanna pay the same they did like ages a go....

I'd suggest that more people accepted it when it first started (no idea what game did it first) or at least enough to make it profitable that it got pushed from a test to a fully workable model. Almost all games now come with a multiplayer aspect, some are purely multiplayer, but in the past you would have to rely on the mod scene to bring out custom stuff.

Expansion packs that add vast amounts of things I don't think anyone minds paying for too much but when in-game items start costing the price of an expansion or even half an expansion of other games it's too much for me. I paid for the Galaxy X because I like the ship and I figured a one-time thing for a unique ship was ok and it would help them bring more things out. Unfortunately it seems to have backfired and things like polls will take on a whole new meaning to me now. I won't be voting, I'm not going to be fooled into saying what they can expect to make money with next. Once is enough to make me learn.

The galaxy X is way overpriced, I love the Excelsior more than life itself and I wouldn't lay down $25 for it.

As most of you should know the Excelsior, and the Nebula are coming to the C-store, and it mite be coming soon with the new C-store update that should be out by the 19th. I love the fact that the Excelsior is coming, becasue that is one of my favorite ships from Star trek.

But here is the problem Those two ships are loved by a lot of people. the polls results were 3553 for the excelsior, and 2647 for the Nebula, and those are just the people who come on to the forums, there are more out there who don't post on the forums, and they will be shocked to see their favorite ship added to the game. Problem is your adding two of the more popular, and most wanted ships to the game and you are going to force people to pay for it, in turn you seem to taken advantage of people's love for those ships, and I think the bean counters know that they are doing that.

I quoted you from one of your post earlier because that right there is the answer. This would be the time to add in a system where you can exchange merits for the ships. you need to push to make the merits equal to the their C-store equivalent. that way people who don't want to pay real money can work hard in the game and earn the ships.

added to what I said it would look a lot better on your part. personally I see this as a boarder line money grab by those bean counters, and you guys are stuck in the middle of this, but you can do something about it.

So what does anyone else think about this?
post your grievances, complaints, complements, concerns here, and lets get our voices heard before they release it to the C-store. ( before it is to late )

Yes, the Galaxy-X is VERY expensive - $25.00 (2000 C Points); BUT you can also get one for 'free' (and 2000 CP to boot by using the 'Refer a Friend' program, so you have a way to 'earn' it too.

The TOS Enterprise is still (imo) a bit pricey at $10.00 (800 C points); but it's hardly all that unreasonable.
    ^^^^
And the above are the only two 'ships' (not ship skins) in the Store; and contrary to what a few vocal posters would have you believe were added to the C-Store because of STO PLAYER demand.

If you look at it - to date you've gotten the modern films and 1987+ Star Trek series 'Hero' ships as part of the game (ie you can make the 1701 and 1701-A Enterprise Refit, The Intrepid Class (aka U.S.S. Voyager from Voyager); the Galaxy Class and Sovereign Classes (1701-D and 1701-E U.S.S. Enterprise - from the TNG series and the films); as well as the Defiant Class (U.S.S. Defiant from DS9); as well as some 'new' base STO designs. You could argue the TOS 1701 should be part of this; but as a TOS fan myself, I have issues believe Star Fleet would keep a (from the era presented in STO) 170 year old design (even upgraded with 'modern STO era' systems) in actual active service. In all honesty, it would more be part of a 'Travelling Fleet museum tour' (imo).

The rest they are creating and charging for. Personally, yes, I'll probably be picking up a few of these myself; but to be honest, since the Excelsior appeared in Star Trek III:TSFS; it's probably appeared on screen for 30 seconds or less maybe 15 times across TNG, DS9 and the TNG feature films. The Nebula Class perhaps 5 times since it first appeared in TNG's The Wounded across TNG, DS9 and the TNG feature films.

Thus, overall, they are hardly 'iconic' or probably even that well know outside of hardcore Star Trek fan circles. Hell, my favorite TNG era design, the Ambassador Class got one off screen mention in TNG's [/b]Conspiracy[/b] (I guess it did make it onsceen if you could a cloud of floating debris an appearance ;); was finally shown somewhat Battle-damaged in TNG's Yesterday's Enterprise and then was shown as one of two ships attacking a Borg Cube in DS9's premiere episode The Emissary

So, honestly all the above ships in fact are VERY ancillary. You have all the 'hero' ships from the modern TV series and major motion pictures. If you want other, lesser shown ships (that you still like and want to command in game); that's ultimately your choice.

    Personally, I DO hope:

    1) They are 'ship costumes' and priced accordingly.

    2) That the Atari Corporate will eventually agree to players being allowed to convert merits to C-Points (at an honesty VERY HIGH amount of Merit being equal to 1 CP so that STO does make it's money, but at the same time allows this path for players who choose it.

    3) Perhaps one of the future Vet Rewards could be: "A ship costume of your choice" or a G Point "reward" that would allow a long time subscribers to get something from the C-Store.

Still, I don't see it as all that big a deal, or a ripoff myself. YMMV.

Uh, guys? You'll be better off if you can just buy them. The grind they can put you through in order to meet the letter of "Available through in-game activities" will more than crush your spirit.

ill buy em to if they are skins and i dont eaven play the fed side i still got most of the ships skins and such anyhow cause i like trek...andi support cryptic but this TRIBBLE selling full ships and adventure content and such i wount support , on the other hand if they gonna sell lets say romulan faction like a full expansion to the game im oki with it but then it has to have enugh content to level up as a romulan with missions and a good story in game , not another mish mash and 2 zones trap like the klingons have turned out to be.

As it is now the so called PVP faction dont eaven get enugh pvp to level a new character trough pvp since there is no incentinve to make feds go pvp , if they pvp they actually slow down their leveling....

(btw, that was sarcasm) ( lol )

Other than membership fee's which seem to be shrinking daily, this is the one thing that keeps Cryptic afloat, thus, I really don't care if they charge $10 for fluff, btw, no one's forcing you to buy it. You just won't be playing with that fluff is all.

I wanna raise yout taxes to 50% of your income with no option of a refund :D

i would much prefer it if cryptic sold a mission arc that actually unlocked the ships at the end of it all, ive got enough spare cash to just buy the ships but frankly i want somthing to do with them when i actually get them. Currently i have no reason to log in and do anything if i had the option of some story / mission arc i could complete to unlock the bonus ships it would give me AND probbly other people incentive to play the game.

the other issue is are we going to see nebula / excelsior fleets or are they going to address the ship problems.

ALSO they need to increase the number of ships you can have in your inventory ive already had to dump my runabout for spots for the galaxy and constitution.

point is whith the gaping content holes cryptic has in their new development strategy to push out as many mmo games as possible cause thats how atari now said they would work they cant sell content and expect players to go along with it this is why they are now toying with the idea of f2p game models...

well to be honest if this does go through as a full ship instead of a skin I would say that it is a sign of F2P ( not that it is a bad thing if they go the LOTRO route. ) but before they go to free 2 play I feel that they would need to expand the game by a factor of 2 content wise.
