That part of the reason for this thread. it does not seem to be set in stone yet, and even the date does not seem to be set in stone. that is why we need to let our voices be heard before it is finalized, ( and before it is to late )

personally I think it needs to be earned on the merit system, or in the C-store. I have the choice to work at my business for the money, or I can work hard in the game to get the right to earn that ship. ( it should probably take close to a month to earn it in my opinion )

Re-posting this because occasionally I do make a useful, informative post and it gets buried ...

Well respecs are the place to go to figure out an exchange rate.

    20 to 30k merits = 500 Cryptic Points.

Make it 25k, split the difference. So 50 merits = 1 Cryptic Point.

    40,000 Merits = 1 TOS Constitution.

    100,000 Merits = 1 Galaxy X.

The Excelsior and the Nebula can fall in between that.

Virtual items still exist, what do you think a game is? Unless I'm missing the point of your post.

no i aint missing the point , the point is the marketing staff got wiff that the players in this game bought huge ammount of galaxy x ships and now new ships gonna appare in the store that trekkies want , they could just as well make em skins that u can use on existing classes and stick to what they said it was gonna be a store with vanity items not a store for ppl with money to get an diffrent game experience for them that cant afford it ..

You're the one that bought a lifetime subscription, mutton.

reason i got lifetime is cause im a trekkie and i could afford it i dont want the hassle with having small lump of change causing massive ammount of taxes in my country , i pay exchange tax for using american money...

agreed that would work the best as an indicator of what the exchange rate should be. if the excelsior was to be 1,200 C-store points that would be 60,000 merits. that would take a good amount of time grind that much. ( and that is a good thing. )

Im quite happy to buy both these ships. We cant have everything for free and id rather make an investment in the game if its going to keep it alive that lil bit longer or is going to get us that extra bit of content that we want

I don't have a problem buying these from the C-store.

However, that is ONLY if all of my characters have access to it. Currently, I am pretty peeved that the ship skins I bought are usable by ALL of my RA characters, but the Galaxy-X that I paid $25 for can ONLY be used by my original character. That sucks. My original character is a tac officer. I am leveling an Engineer whom I think is better suited for the Galaxy X. He is currently a Capt 3. I wish I could remove the X from my tac RA5 and give it to the Eng when he reaches RA1. But, alas, I cannot as of yet.

So, I'll buy both of these if I can use them on any of my chars. But, if they are limited to just one character, I won't. It is that simple.

Im still against it cause they going back on their word again stating c store was gonna be for vanity items only costumes and graphics changes...

Yup. That's kind of what I am hoping they see. 60K merits is a bit of a grind. For sure. But it's the sweet spot between the TOS and the Galaxy X when using the respecs as the exchange rate lynchpin.

They're not gonna let you buy it with in-game credits. One, credits can't pay developers. Two, all MMOG's tend to suffer from rampant inflation so whatever price point they would establish (if point one weren't true) would keep decreasing in actual value over time.

That said, if Cryptic thinks anybody other than the most dedicated umm... fans are going to keep dropping $25 USD on ship skins without detailed and accurate interiors, then somebody isn't going to meet their projected numbers.

Uh...the Galaxy-X is usable by all of them. You just have to go claim it under 'Special Unlocks'. Well, all of your Fed toons at least.

Since when did this change? I tried it with my RA5 Sci character on Saturday. He was unable to unlock it.

basicall whats happend now is that the marketing deparment figuerd out we would gladly pay 25 bucks to fly another ship skin as long as they toss in an special ability or 2 so this is gonna keep happening..

I keep seeing peeps say it is usable by all or it isn't. Considering I'm not dropping cash on that POS, I don't know.

But c'mon guys, which is it?

Hmm I have made my fair share of purchases from the c-store and bought a LT membership prior to launch. Do as any of you like however I personally will not buy any ship off the C-store (Galaxy - X included) untill the interiors are done. I won't buy a car without seats.

because you have to be a VICE Admiral to get it unfortunately...

I will, however be buying the Nebula. If it comes at a higher rank then it gives me something to play toward :-)

Im more then happy to pay for C-Store stuff if it means STO stays alive long enough for me to be a Romulan eventually

Kep up the most excellent work Cryptic, seaosn 2.0 is awesome from what ive played on Tribble

the galaxy X was bugged but they fixed it about 48 hours after it was on c-store

at the moment it can be claimed on all RA characters under the special unlock tab

make sure you have enough ship space and it will appear in your inventory

if that does not work then send a GM a ticket

all three of my RA characters have the galaxy x

    Huh?

When I bought it over the 4th of July weekend, I did it with an RA5 Tactical officer. So, now you are saying when Season 2.0 hits with the VA1 rank, I will then be able to transfer this ship to another character? Where did you get this information?

Is it posted on another forum?

get back to the point if you ppl think its oki to shell out 25bucks for a an ingame skin once a month then you cry about game costing 15 bucks a month , i bet if they raised the price to 20 bucks and month and included all this for free most of the ppl that say its oki for 25 bucks for a ship skin would ditch the game in a heartbeat..

Cool. I'll try again tonight. Right now (as my Sig shows), I only have 2 RA5 characters. I am still leveling my Eng. I really don't want the X for my Sci toon, but this will make a good test. I really want it for my Eng when he hits RA.

    Thanks for clearing this up...

I've been on the forums for 4 months now. I have NEVER cried about buying things on the C-store or the $15 a month for the sub (I actually use the 3-month payment system which is $41 per 3 month period. That comes to a little less than $15 a month). If my purchasing extra C-store points helps to fund more content, I am all for it.

I really like this game. I just wish there were more to do at the RA level. But that is off topic...

That's because at that point it's their choice. 25 is too much for sure I agree, the galaxy X is so not worth 25, but ill gladly pay 5-10 for the excelcior. And why that's good is it's my choice, nobody who doesn't want to fly it doesn't have to pay a dev to make it

We already pay the developers to make content. It's just completely baffling that you're willing to shell out even more money for stuff that you've already paid for!

Because it's not stuf I've already payed for, the idea behind the store is that if it wasn't for cstore profits they wouldn't have the cash to make cstore items. Like all the bridge packs for instance, the guy who made them gets his pay from the cstore revenue. The galaxy is way overpriced by a huge margin but other parts of the store I believe are fair.

And that's completely rubbish; the balance is so screwed up. If they're trying to send a message that my subscription fee isn't enough to cover filling in the glaring content holes that we've put up with so far, then really aren't I an idiot continuing to pay it?

    Exactly.
Early in the game's history, Cryptic vowed that only cosmetic items would be C Store only, items in the store other than cosmetic would be obtainable in-game without the need to cough up cash for C Points.
This was a falsehood, as the Galaxy X demonstrates.
Again, it's shown that Cash > Integrity.
Anything Cryptic says at this point, on ANY subject or topic, should be taken with a grain of salt, as their vows mean little, as demonstrated.

The balence is really screwed up for the galaxy X but the other stuff on the store is about what I'd expect to pay a guy to develop and implement a 3-D model of. Plus all the content additions like ship interiors, weekly episodes, new seasonal episodes, diplomacy, new exploration maps, ect. You are getting for just your sub, and if it's true that 15 a month isn't enough to cover those costs you're actually getting a deal, haha.
