All I see when I read 50+ pages of this are a handful of people who want this but cant/wont get recruits, and so they are insigiting a riot. In the end, if I were to actually just remove 5 people's posts (guessing) from this thread, I'd see a very different picture.

And the people who don't give two ***** about the Galaxy-X model but fear STO's slide into a pay-for-power cash shop game get drowned out by both sides. Oh well.

Adding fluff stuff for a referral program: I have no problem with it.

Adding a ship skin to the referral program: I have some problems with it, but could accept it.

Adding a ship to the referral program that is more powerful than any other ship in the game: I have HUGE problems with it!

Anyone who doesn't is simply not looking out for the best interests of themselves, their fellow players, and the health of the game.

The reason why Cryptic is doing this is because they think that they have to add something of that magnitude to get anything OUT of the referral program. That right there says more than they want said about the true health of this game.

And we only know that it will have an ability that would be unique if it were added to the game now and that it might have a non-battle cloak like Klingon raptors and battle cruisers. One sentence along the lines of "special abilities of this sort will be choices for the new T5-refit ships that will be available in-game" would go a long way and the lack of such a basic assurance infuriates me. Instead we have half-statements like the in-game Galaxy-5 variants 'might' not have the 3rd nacelle (cosmetic) or cannon (mechanical). Which doesn't exactly inspire m confidence.
You don't know that they won't be. :) For all anyone knows, that cannon will be available on all T5 ships, not just the Galaxy X version. That's kind of why everyone should wait for the full details....

And sitting around and depending on speculation rather than demanding that they hold themselves to their continual blandishments that they wouldn't be selling off powerful items helps how?

They couldn't extinguish all the flames by giving an assurance that the mechanical abilities of the Galaxy-X will be available through in-game means, but they could extinguish some and demonstrate that they have a scrap of integrity left.

Management is aware of this thread ...

Hello managers I would like an option in game or Cstore to please have this ship without RAF. Im a teacher, I have a wife and kids and the age range/interest of my friends are not very MMO friendly.

I would never be able to get 5people to play this game. Even if i begged them.

But I would like this ship.

I think you'll find that while not as long-winded, I do try to frequently make a case for all C-Store content to ultimately be earn-able/achievable in-game. I will admit however that they are often overshadowed by my zealousness for holding ground on the base idea that exclusive rewards of some kind (regardless of what) be retained.

But even in this, I often take the time to make a separate posting regarding the C-Store must be in-game achievable stance, so that it isn't completely lost in the mad ravings of an enraged rebuttal to Lt.Expendable... ;)

Where are you getting "power items" from? Just how "powerful" will it be? How much damage does it do? What's the cooldown? The energy consumption? No one knows. Jumping the gun and labelling this as a "powerful weapon" that will "unbalance the game" is just silly.
    dstahl wrote: »
Here's what I know about it so far - The cannon is specific to this ship, and takes the place of a weapon's slot, but is not an item that can be removed and placed on another ship. It shows up as a captain's power on your weapon tray. The beam is intendend to be a very narrow front cylinder beam that can pass through objects and hit multiple targets if you are lined up properly (out to a set distance).

There are no details yet on recharge timers or how it impacts cooldowns of other powers/weapons.

I've also heard rumor that it may have a non-battle cloak - which means that it might be able to cloak - but only out of combat.

Once the designer is finished with the ship - I'll see if I can get the full details.

The man just told you all that the details aren't even finished for it yet and he himself doesn't know any specifics. What would you like him to do? Guess?

Where does it say this cannon is going to 1 shot entire fleets? Where does it say it's going to be able to fire through the cloak - assuming it even has a cloak?

Well I did that, back at launch, brought 10 people (my normal gaming crew) in to the game (used 2 of my CE buddy keys, kept one just because) and now 3 months in, all but 4 have canceled their subs. I have done my part, I paid for a LT after the price went to $300, I paid full retail for a CE and DDE before the price was cut in half. I have bought and spend a lot of C-points. I have done my part.

Frankly I dont care about whatever 3 nacelle ship they are adding. I am upset that they are adding an exclusive item for the top tier end game instead of as they said way back "we wont add anything in an exclusive fashion that will effect gameplay" (BTW that was a paraphrase from the discussion we had in these very forums over the whole C-store ships and respec and whatnot) Personally I dont think there should be anything in this game thats exclusive, even lifetimers, or pre-launch, but thats just me. Others actually want this ship, very badly it seems, and it sucks for them.

Instead of dreaming up TRIBBLE like this that they have to know is going to start a conflagration with the player base, why not expend the energy to shore up the game so that we might actually WANT to recommend it others? They start doing that and I'll get on board with RaF schemes and promotion, but at this point it is putting the cart before the horse...........

    Yeah...

Exclusive shiny bits are just fine and a good way to channel interest to particular retailers and programs. Which is why I got the DDE from Gamestop despite all the confusion surrounding that edition/retailer combo - TOS Connie AND TOS uniforms. Forget the Borg strumpet from Amazon :D On the other hand, almost everyone I play with frequently went with Amazon.

Then again, even in that combo, there are things like the Automated Defense Turret that make me look back and wish I hadn't supported it.

Just re-iterating... no one knows if it will or not at this point. There are no specific details provided at this point in time. For all anyone knows, it is mostly cosmetic with no real difference in DPS or other capabilities than existing T5 ships.

That's not to say that when details are posted, should they indeed be "gamebreaking", I'll be right there along with others who will hold Cryptic to their statement.

Its called development, there going to have certain things pop in eventually that were not there before. Like this RAF deal. They have had time since beta to get and make new content, such as this Galaxy X. And Iam sure there numbers of this game arnt good atm so yeah there putting in a PROMOTION to get more people into the game while giving off an awsome exclusive item. Is that there faults that they were not key into when you brought in friends or what not...NO.

I get what your saying and it sucks many people did this during launch or beta, but never the less its done. I mean I did the same too before launch and only grabbed 2 of my buddies. They dont play eather but come on here and there. I grabbed another 5 or even 6 guys that I know who I talked about the game like last week about and they wanna try maybe even sub. Heck even my boss who plays WoW may try this out. Never the less Iam sure theyll have more promotions down the line with even more snazzy items to get from recruiting or what have yah...its gonna happen. dont kid yourself.

I'm positive the numbers are good, all I have to do is look at my friends list or hell just look around in game.....space is a lot more lonely out there. They want me to "get on board" then they need to do something other than add a cheesy marketing gimmick and shore up their games foundations and stop running around in 50 different directions.

Good gawd, this games development is like watching someone trying to herd cats.

I'm starting to get fed up with this RAF TRIBBLE. This thread was SUPPOSED to be for a civil and constructive discussion for trying to get other ways to EARN the ship. Take away the posts of people attacking each other in EVERY thread about this damn topic and we'd actually have working discussion, not an effing FLAME WAR!

I don't care about the ship any more. Really. I want it just as much as some posters here and I'd be more than willing to work my way towards getting it, but I won't be able to this way. My suggestion at this point is to close all threads dealing with this, delete the damn ship from the game entirely, and move on. This may not be the Cryptic blunder-of-the-week that sends me packing, but it is coming very close to doing so.

And it's not just Cryptic/Atari/CBS/whatever that's causing me to lose faith in the game. It's the players as well. There. I said my peace.

Judging by their veterans rewards programs, I imagine that this content will eventually make its way to the c-store or some other means of acquisition (like veterans rewards).

For now, though, I think it's a nice reward for people who bring more people into the game. Why shouldn't they get a perk?

(And no, all of my friends who would play STO started the game with me - so I don't have it, and probably won't get it.)

Wouldn't that run completely contrary to the purpose of the RAF program tho?

Besides, the point at which the RAF program becomes 'effort' is where you start crossing into 'spam every peripheral acquaintance you have and every message board you frequent' territory.

And what of the people who've already spent the necessary effort, more than the necessary effort, to try and help the game get enough subs to get off the ground in the first place?

I'm not sure why I actually care about that aspect though. I've tried and failed already, just ending up generating 1 reactivated Eve account instead. Frankly they could give everyone who recruits 5 an IRL pony (care and feeding included) and it wouldn't make a difference to me. Giving the Galaxy-X special mechanical traits, however, does.

    Are you kidding me?
Can't refer 5 friends? REFERRING GETS YOU NOTHING, YOU HAVE TO BASICALLY SELL THE GAME TO THEM.

Your second statement is just bizarre. Perhaps you'll change your tune when the only people populating the game are rich kids who bought 5 subs, people who pressured others into subbing and one-month subbers who aren't really interested in the game.

I bought a lifetime sub because I believed in this game once.
I didn't do it for an exclusive shiny.

And for the record I would not object to the Lib Borg being made available to all players somehow, and one of my mains is a Borg.

The thing that some people don't seem to get is that several of us "blue posters" had faith in the game and was willing to support it early on. I certainly didn't get it for the Lib Borg. I couldn't care less if it's offered again for a vet reward or something.
