since i updated to the new 1.4.1 i get stuck on the sto logo loading screen, and I've tried everything mentioned in the directions to try and fix it! does anyone have advice?
anyway, i love this app @doh123, i have used it since back in 2010 and have never had any real problems! thanks for making it
after switching to the new wrapper and/or just after many patches, it'll stick o that screen for a long time.. like 10 minutes. A few functions WIne uses for networking is very buggy and EXTREMELY slow on OSX and there is nothing I can do about it at the moment.
Luckily this is not hitting STO in all cases like it does SWTOR. I can get SWTOR working, but due to this same issue it can take like 10+ minutes every time you try to load an area, zone, or whatever and get timed out and logged off. Maybe Apple will have some improvements in 10.8, otherwise... there are just certain things that will never work well because Apple doesn't care to support anything properly anymore unless its all their own built in and approved frameworks and APIs... Macs are slowly turning into iOS devices.
Not sure whats wrong with my machine and running Wine but STO will only work once after a fresh install of the game. After I quit the game once and try to load it again it crashes after Engage. I guess it's off to BootCamp for me.

did you try Safe Mode, and changing graphics options? There are some graphics options that can causes crashes during initialization...
Running in Windows is definitely the way the game was made to play if thats what floats your boat, running any way thats not officially supported can always be buggy.

I would love to continue playing with Wineskin and it was working fine for the longest time; since the recent patches they released it destabilized something for me....I did try safe mode; I changed the resolution as well...not sure how I can access the in game graphic options since it crashes right after Engage.
I'll try switching over to the dedicated Nvideo 9600 card to see if it makes a difference. Edit: Didn't make a difference.
Can't post the entire test run log since it's too long.

Well it seems to have been something I over looked....
I simply let the game force-verify all the files...clicked Engage and it's working again! Fingers crossed I don't jinx it.
Looks like whenever I command Q from STO something now gets corrupted and I have to force verify all files in order to Engage without a crash.
might be a good idea to not CMD+Q, since that does effectively kill it, and STO doesn't log out right... its almost like in Windows of just killing the program in task manager.
Is there also a possibility for STO to run on an iPad?
Its in the directions... you take the 2 wrappers, old and new, and move the Cryptic Studios folder from the old one, to the same place in the new one.
iPads are not Macs... the processor is completely different. It would take a true full port done by someone with access to the source code to pull something off like that.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm having an issue.
I installed STO through the wrapper and ran it perfectly. When I quit the game and tried to run it again, it tried to reinstall the game. When I aborted the reinstall, it aborted the program. Any suggestions on what's going on?

make sure in Wineskin.app Advanced that the main EXE is set to Star Trek Online.exe... it will not reinstall, but just run the login/patcher. If you copied the installation folder inside and set it to that.. it could do the set up again, or if your trying to run the setup.exe again.

I've begun quitting the game through the in game menu...yet the game still must force-verify all the files to successfully launch each time. Am I quitting the game the right way?
I'll take verifying the files each time over not working at all.

it shouldn't have a problem if you shut down that way... not sure why they'd be getting corrupted :-(
I followed to steps to installing the STO.exe file through wineskin up to the point where wineskin is supposed to actually install the program. I am not getting any network activity for wineskin and no progress seems to be made. I have a dialog box saying "Wineskin is currently busy, please wait" and a spinning icon.
I have the wineskin wrapper version 2.5.5 and engine WS9Wine1.5.2. I have a Macbook Pro from 2010 running snow leopard.

Sounds like your making your own wrapper instead of using the one I already made...?? also sounds like your trying to run the downloader program, and not the full game install.
I have been able to work STO on my mac using wine skin for a while and having only a few manageable problems but this is the first time i have seen it say "Unable to Start Game Client: Bad Format"
Any suggestions on how to fix this issue.
It is still not working i looked at my wineskin and the engine has been changed. How can i get it back to the original engine that it was running off of?

uhhh... well you can get the last version of the wrapper and swap out the Contents/Frameworks/wswine.bundle which is technically the "engine" if its a much older engine it won't work.. so if there is no Frameworks folder with a wswine.bundle, then it was a very old version... you can go download Wineskin Winery and download any engine you want (there are many) and any thats been downloaded in there will show up as an option when you select "Change Engine" in Wineskin.app in the wrapper.
I'd just like to ask, and I'm too lazy to go through and see if its been answered before LOL - every time i try to open the foundry, using STO through his APP. It never works ._. Is this a bug? or am I doing something wrong, to make it not work?
I've recently been playing Comminity missions, and wanted to begin making my own >.>

I solved the problem by redownloading it. I have ran into the problem of it crashing after i press engage. I have also tried after verifying the files.

Hello, I also have this issue. Sometimes I have to force verify the files twice and have Safe Mode enabled....it works eventually.

Anyways, any answer would be helpful c: Thankies
Foundry works fine on mine. At least, it worked the one time I tried it since downloading this.
And thanks to the OP for making this possible! Now I won't have to fight my sister over her PC.
Is there a way to turn off CMD+Q in Wine/X11? I keep accidentally hitting it and it's driving me nuts!
Thanks ;-)
Inside Wineskin.app advanced options, make sure its set to try to do a clean safe shut down... (so it'll do a quit script instead of just killing the app)
then, go inside the wrapper in Resources/WineskinMenuScripts and delete the file "WineskinQuit.exe" ... then CMD+Q will do nothing.

Might be a fluke but who knows.
Update: So far so good. Not sure if it was 10.7.4 or something Cryptic did with an update...
knowing normal OSX, STO, and Wine, its probably all random luck :-)
Thanks ;-)
