Hey I would really like to thank you for this great utility. I always wanted to be able to bring this game with me on my Mac and until I found this, it was impossible. My thanks to you. Excellent Job.
I was just wondering if anyone out there can give me a hand. Ive downloaded this game but it will not work. I tried running it on parallels and through the wineskin program. All i ever get is a message that says: "unable to establish connection to patch server". I don't know what to do about it. Ive tried changing the exe file, restarted the computer and have reinstalled the program three or four times. Still won't work. Any suggestions or fixes?

If you downloaded the Torrent files there will be about 6gb worth of patches that need to be downloaded after the initial install and before the the first launch. Some time ago the client would patch but not display it correctly. So depending on your internet speed I d suggest to leave it running for a while. Do it a couple of times and see if it won't start.
If you have access to a working windows environment, download the whole game there (disable on demand patching in the launchers settings) and then copy it into the STO wrapper. This is more reliable and certainly faster.
Once you open the launcher, even before you type in you info and pw, there is an options menu in the top right row. in there is an option to "disable on demand patching" this will increase your patch size considerably, but for the initial install in the winewrapper i would recommend it.
so if you have a fully patched win version, then the message you are seeing either means you have some problems with your internet connection (any firewalls, ip blocks, etc) or the patch servers were down.
Just to be clear if you download the game on windows, and start it do you see the same message? also check out this post about connection issues.
Been having some problems with this... I got the cryptic oops error so I did what the instructions said and turned off glsl... but I still got the error. Any ideas?
Oh and my system specs are Mac OSX 10.6, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT, 3 GB Ram (Mac Pro)
i am having problems in that whenever I click it when it starts up all I get is a blue background a white bar at the bottom and a white square where the launcher should be this only started after every time I tried to play it I got a cryptic error.

7300GT... I wouldn't expect it to work or work well... you can try setting STO Options to go in safe mode.

macbook pro no idea other than that. I haven't had problems before but then when it got to character selection it had highest settings of graphics and crashed so I tried safe mode etc but still no joy until I got the problem right now.

you could try to verify all your STO files... something might have gotten corrupted. (verify doesn't always find the problems... I've had to delete almost everything except the Star Trek Online.exe file before and let the patcher re-download everything)
You could try getting a fresh clean copy of the wrapper and moving the STO files over to that ins case something in the wrapper got corrupted.
Getting lots of errors since the last patch. Is this something we can fix, or are we stuck with it? It seems to happen on startup maybe 3 or 4 times out of 10 - and when beaming down to a station maybe 6 or 7 times out of 10.
Hi, i could use some help setting this up on my MacBook Pro, its a 13" 2.66 GHz intel core 2 Duo with 4 GB ram and running Mac OS X 10.6.8. I have downloaded the software from the first page but now i'm stuck! Other than that i really don't know what the hell i'm doing or supposed to be doing. But i'm a massive Star Trek Fan and would love to play this game. Any/All help is greatly appreciated.
PS apologies if this has been asked a thousand times and also if there is a tutorial somewhere on here that i've not come across.

thanks for the tutorial video, i think my problem is i haven't got the game on disc and i don't have a previous version on windows so i'm trying to start from scratch, i have got the file open ready to paste but i don't have the cryptic studios folder or the startup.exe from the disc
If you read the directions that come with the wrapper, it tells you what to do. I really don't feel like repeating it all. If your having an issue with something specific, say what exactly you don't understand or that isn't working...
quickly though... the wrapper is just made to make the game work. It isn't the game itself.... you need to go somewhere to get the full game download yourself first like over at fileplanet. The Downloader program you get from the STO site will not work, it is NOT the game download, its just a little program that downloads the game for you... if you want to use that downloader program, you need to run it on Windows then move the downloaded real game over... but its easier to go to fileplanet and just get the full game download from your browser. I don't really understand the way so many companies don't offer downloads anymore, just downloader programs.
I'm having trouble with the game crashing every time space dock loads, any help would be greatly appreciated
i am getting a program error, it says "the program GameClient.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience."

Has this happened to anyone else?
there are some memory leak issues that I really just can't fix... turning on half resolution or just turning down graphics options usually lets it work. If you've been playing many hours or just have a really low end system, its more likely to happen.
Sorry to keep being a pain, i know it must get frustrating seeing as you've probably discussed this tons already, fairly new to Mac's so not sure how to turn down the Resolutions etc, again thanks in advance if you can point me in the right direction.

nothing to do with the mac... I'm talking about the graphics settings in STO
I'm on a Mac Mini (10.7.3). I click wineskin (I have downloaded a star trek online from the official site) and i to the execute fil the and choose:STO_EN...Lots of numbers.exe and it says 'Wineskin is busy, please wait' So I wait...For an hour & NOTHING!

as has been said here numerous times, and as it says in the directions... the download from the official site will NOT work because it is not the actual game, its just a program that downloads the game for you. Go download the actual full game from Fileplanet.

machine specs?
Tried it, works well actually, but unfortunately only in safe mode. Not really a problem, though, thanks!

the same place as it would do in Windows... so you need to right click the app and Show Package Contents and dive into the drive_c folder.
Found it. Thanks!
