No sorry. The displays, generic scifi neon blue is everywhere. The uniform might ot be the cage but its actually ok. The side strips seem to have different colour to determine roles.

Are you the average viewer? Yes, there are many exceptions, but for every one of you there are ten who subscribe only to basic cable, and even a great many who, like my sister, have dropped cable TV entirely for a single streaming service and/or broadcast TV.

Fortunately for me all I use is Netflix and I'll get to watch it with no extra cost because I am in the UK. Look forward to seeing it and discovering (no pun intended) what happened to the Klingons.

The original trailer from May 2016 stated "New Crews. New Villians. New Heroes. New Worlds." So unless CBS has changed their minds and decided to focus on one crew like every other Star Trek series, then the Shenzhou would only be featured in a portion of Discovery's episodes.

That was in response to mhall, who had noted that in this trailer we did not see the Discovery, the titular ship - which to me indicates that the events we saw are all from the pilot episode.
Yeah, but the point of a trailer is to advertise a product.
And advertisements are of course the ultimate source of truth, as my whiter than white shirt proves.
maybe hollywood needs to hire better trailer creators.
The purpose of trailers is to get you to watch the movie or TV show. The purpose is not necessarily tell you what exactly will happen in them, so sometimes they do that, too, because there is apparently an audience that needs to know what will happen before they commit to watching it. I prefer trailers that lie, honestly, so i am still surprised about the story. Of course, that only really works if the story they tell instead is decent.

Nicholas Meyer says the show looks the way it does intentionally, because it "fills a niche" in the timeline, largely thanks to Bryan Fuller's vision of what the show should be.
It sounds like CBS has a plan B star trek series to me, from what Meyer said.
Between the fact that he's working a new Star Trek project and that he kept calling Discovery Niche, I think they have a plan B series.
I mean there is no reason there can't be 2 star trek series at once, it's happened before, TNG/DS9 and DS9/Voyager. Think on it and grow wise.
Except that TNG/DS9 and DS9/Voyager had their stories happening at the same time. Just different viewpoints of the 2370s Federation. Not sure if CBS is willing to have 2 different Star Trek series set in different centuries. However, it will likely take a few season of Discovery to do the adventures of Captain April or Captain Pike.
Discovery could be set up so that it has the same effect of TNG/DS9 and DS9/Voyager by having a couple of different ships that it focuses on. So one episode might deal with the Shenzou, the next one will focus on the Discovery, and the one after that focuses on the Klingon ship. Or it could be similar to how the Expanse was set up where every few minutes had the focus switch to another group.
Considering this is the first show to come after the premature cancellation of the previous show, I don't think CBS is going to gamble on doing a full multi program blitz with Star Trek again. If anything they are going to wait and see how this show does before they even consider what comes next. Considering most Star Trek shows have taken a few seasons to find their legs it is going to be an uphill battle for this show.
Modern Hollywood doesn't really seem willing to gamble with shows that aren't instant successes anymore. Discovery is going to have to knock one out of the park right from the start or the CBS executives are going to start getting squeamish about the franchise again.

Then maybe 'fans' should stop trying to kill it before they've even seen it.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Depending on the success of DSC and the succes of CBS All Access, it might be that the "average" viewer will watch it via Netflix.

And, in a move that should probably surprise no one, CBS is splitting up the first season. Episodes 1-8 will appear on All Access every Sunday from September 24th through November, while Episodes 9-15 will begin streaming in January. Yes, it's lame, but CBS also has to convince new subs to stick around. It's only going to infuriate the haters even more.

I don't really care what CBS does, but how will Netflix handle this?

It would be very depressing if Orville is a better Star Trek series than Discovery.
Well. the trailer Orville was much better Star Trek than the Disc one.
For Les Moonves, yes

If the comments I have seen on facebook are anything to go by, Les Moonves should be an extremely worried man.
