A second deflector dish just might be... well a way to help compensate for the space flanking ability that will go eventually to all escorts. Can you imagine the Vesta with 2 deflectors and that helps determine how much more tanky the ship can get? You could literally have the 2pc set bonus from the old Borg Space Set and the Adapted MACO space set at the same time!
I currently run the Adapted MACO Deflector. Unless the blog post next week says otherwise, I assume I can then slot the regular MK XII MACO Deflector on this new Dyson Sci Destroyer...
Nuts yes, epic... well til it gets NERF'd in game after the launch.
Someone on doffjobs said it was revealed in the priorityone interview that the secondary deflector is unique and the slot cannot be used to fit a different deflector.
I have a hard time believing that, but I don't feel like listening to an interview for a line of dialogue that might halfway confirm that in passing mention.
Also, the flanking buff is only going to BoPs, which have been endangered for a while now. Escorts are different and do not need any kind of buff at all, and won't get flanking. I'm still open to the idea of the aquarius being reclassified as a raider though.
It's probably unique and fixed on these ships and changeable on normal sci ships when its added later.
Assuming that is the new trick coming for sci ships any way.
If that is the case though, these ships seem like they'll hardly be as effective a testbed for this mechanic as the breen raider is for the flanking bonus.
I feel like if they're going to make a secondary deflector slot, they need to make unique secondary deflector items tailored towards synergizing with Science builds. Perhaps Secondary Deflector [tags] will affect not skills but actual BOff powers, like ones that buff Gravity Well or Tachyon Beam?
I doubt we'll get another tactical. Maayybbee a uni if we're really nice. The fleet version might.
I'm sick of seeing universal slots on every ship. Its a science ship primarily, with a secondary role as a tactical destroyer, so that's what it should reflect. It already has the ability to switch the ltcom and comm stations when it changes modes, it doesn't need a universal slot. It should be science biased, much how the galaxy retro is eng biased.
From what I've read and seen on the dev blog, its basically an updated version of the chimera destroyer. But I'd be willing to bet that the chimera would easily put this new thing to shame. Either way, I doubt many players will waste their time grinding for a 3/3 (4/3) ship when they can get one for practically nothing right now.

like the title says I really hope these ships will got to the c-store or fleet store I really don't want to grind 1000 marks for a ship it's just stupid and a waste of time
I'd say there's a decent chance, based on past experiences.
Oddy/Bortas -> C-store 3 pack and event version available through fleetyards
Ambassador/Kamarag -> both event and fleet version available through fleetyards
Then again, these didn't have the unfortunate grind element that is introduced now.
While I concur that a fleet variant is also in the works, it's been my experience that the devs share this kind of detail only after the event offering any non-fleet version has come and gone. I suppose they could make an exception. Although, IMO, that is highly unlikely. I guess we shall see the content of next week's blogs following their Monday dev meeting?
Until then it's a guessing game. As well as a test of patience on the part of the player, Is it worth my while to wait for such an announcement before investing otherwise?

The Breen cruiser has sci boff high enough to use a grav well, same as dysen ship in destroyer mode, plus more consoles and more guns. Who needs a 2nd deflector. Deflector is pretty much the most unimportant piece of a ship.
I would go for 2nd deflector, so I ccould have 2 sets bonus. For example, omega deflector/eng for tetry glid and maco deflector/shield.

Lets see:
2 part adapted MACO and 2 part Jem'Hadar MK XII (Include shields) - Your crew is practically indestructible and you get extra polaron damage. (Combine with space Nurse for extra crew resistance lol).
2 part Omega and 2 part MACO - Boff powers reduction and tetryon glider bonus.
Fleet deflector, 2 part MACO, and fleet shields - Sci focused boff power reduction and extra protection from fleet shields.

Once again Science ruins lives....You blew it UP DAMN YOU ALL!!!
some people try to relate it to more of a Science Ship...
people say the 2nd Deflector makes up for not being 10 consoles but 2nd Deflector is gonna be a new feature for all Science Ships...
and the poor Secondary Boff ranks...
9 Consoles.
4/3 weapons with slight chance 1 of the forward weapons being perm and not removable.
2nd Deflector Dish might bring new Secondary Deflector Items Making Set Stacking Null and Void.
+'s
Mode Change.
Secondary Deflector Dish.
Proton DHC.
Targeting system and Scanner.
Targeting and Maybe Scanner in Tactical Mode.
Decent Hull and High Shields (Maybe).
but i do highly think that coming of the Secondary Deflector Dish will Introduce Secondary Deflector Dish Only Items.
I just hope that it will have a full 10 console slots. It is a grind ship after all.

but they might of change their minds by now so who knows.

i don't think Escorts are getting it as well?
from what i heard they would be new type of Raider ships like Klingon BoP's...
but idk i never got a chance to actually read on what they're doing with the Flanking Passive.
all romulan ships have Battle Cloak
but i didn't see anything about a special Core on the blog.
must be one of the hidden new things they hinted at

New Nick for the dyson science destroyers...
Dino Destroyers!
We love our DJ's
Going to have to put to a J-park set to celebrate the first person that grands one out!
If that is the case though, these ships seem like they'll hardly be as effective a testbed for this mechanic as the breen raider is for the flanking bonus.

Because we never have enough power creep !
Best bet though, is to see what happens after the recent grind debacle. So, keep an eye on the Dev blogs.
Who knows, they might change their minds on the grind aspect to get the ships. Well, we can hope atleast.

Otherwise, I suppose its possible we might get fleet versions at some point, but I doubt they will show up in the C-store.

Plenty of combinations.

I cannot wait, I need more info~!
so those of you thinking of stacking some nice deflectors on it better not get your hopes up to high.
more like a since it's our anniversary and we plan to release these new ships why don't we give them a dumbed down version.
i don't mind a fleet version but don't want it any time soon.
and i sure as hell don't want it to cost 5 C-store items..
