    Hey all,

Today I finally updated my windows vista service pack, which I think included some direct x stuff. I've been playing for over an hour without the missing texture issues. It might be something to try. I have no idea if it's fixed or if the problem will simply return with the next map load.

But, it was pretty darn consistent before, and now I'm having my longest period of non-issues. So, for what it's worth.

My wife had the missing texture and "white out" issue. I fixed it apparently by turning from off to on... "Screen-space ambient occlusion" in the video options.

I have postprocessing enabled, and it doesn't help me with this. I know that's for a different issue, but I wanted to make sure anyway.

    Specs are as follows:
OS: Windows XP Professional 32-bit (SP3)
CPU: AMD (Quad-core) Phenom II ~3.4GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HC 4800 Series (1GB Mem)
RAM: 3.5GB (due to limitations of 32-bit OS)
    Direct X: 9.0c

I play in windowed mode, if that matters. As the others report, it seems to begin happening after a number of map changes.

As for you, l30p4rd... The very definition of 'civil' is respect. You are not being respectful. The devs (aside from community reps, like Branflakes) who look at the forums do so outside of work, meaning they (ie Tacofangs) are not being compensated when they take time to reply to our posts.

I want the issue fixed as fast as possible too. I am not pandering to the devs by treating them with respect. I am giving them incentive to be personally involved with the issue instead of distancing themselves. We want answers -- the way to get them is not to call the devs a bunch of lazy idiots who don't deserve to have time off.

All 32bit OS so far. Interesting.

Yeah, there's no way this isn't a 32 bit OS problem if it's affecting DX9 and DX11 but not 64 bit systems. If there's anybody getting this on a 64 bit system (I play on a 64 bit Win 7 machine occasionally and never see this problem there) they should tell us as soon as possible.

Spacedock #5 is where you can't turn left or right and even jump with your character.
Going to Starbase 39 is like catching a virus; once you experience graphic problems like shown in kaeala screenshots of Earth Spacedock #10 and #1 you can't seem to to shake it off no matter where else you go to afterwards. Sierra Sector #1 map is missing several graphic images and everything else is white. DS9 is worse; peoples characters look like reverse negative of film.
    Normal screenshot for me is 1440 x 900 not the 720 x 450 I'm getting now.
The graphics problem is causing the type of lag in which I'm moving further than where I originally stopped. Which causes me to miss turning to go through a door. Has my character pass through a door before the door ever opens.
I'm beginning to believe the Mac beta version of the game is what is responsible for fouling up everything and probaly the only people who can play it now without complaining are those with a Mac computer.

The 'fix' for this lasted almost an hour for me but went right back to the issue I and everyone else has been experiencing.

Graphics become so bad that I have to exit the game and restart in order to see what I am doing.

I thought they had this fixed -- I rolled a new toon, and within a half hour had to exit and restart.

OH HEY WINTER WONDERLAND FULL OF NEW SHINY TOMORROW -- and no f'n graphic fix.

Can you folks who are affected post a little info about your systems? Specifically, what video card you are using?

I should have stipulated earlier myself as to the make/model, even if it is a bit embarrassing.

Running AMD Athlon 3700 and Nividia 7300GT with Windows 7. I have tweaked every setting I can think of both with my video card and the game, played with various versions of DirectX and turned overclocking off/on but nothing seems to have fixed the whiteout. I do know that, for myself, it has gotten slightly better and sometimes will fix itself if I just stay on a single map for a time but majority of the time, it gets worse and I have to restart.

With the complete buggy mess the Winter Wonderland is this year I bet this problem gets put on the back burner and the fix will never come.

The guys doing the mac testing had this problem, the dev tweaked it so it fixed it for them now the rest or only some of us have it. I get the feeling it's not enough of us for our problem to become a problem for the devs.

Maybe I'm just tired but the issue wasn't even in the patch notes........

Yeah. I've seen "..must be fault of the Mac client.." or "..preferential fixing priority.." in a couple of threads and I have no idea where it's coming from, - except maybe carryover suspicions from past experience? e.g. from a slew of bug issues that arose, at the same time as when Steam support was first rolled out?

Anything is possible as we're all largely ignorant to the detailed software architecture, but I'd guess-timate the probability of both as low. This is based firstly on the fact that the beta is -NOT- a native OSX port, crafted anew via Xcode or similar. Rather it is the Windows client implemented in a Cider (as apposed to plain WINE) wrapper.

As to Macs getting this fixed. None of the Mac beta entries I've included in the consolidated list(s) of related missing textures/icons threads (that I'm still actively maintaining btw), have been set to resolved or fixed. If they had, then I wouldn't have included Mac graphical hardware, in my last post to Tacofang's request for affected specs.

I can certainly still 'swivel-chair' from my PC to my very old (2008!) iMac and replicate this issue on demand; using the methods exhaustively discussed here. As can my friend on a far more recent 2012 MacBook Pro.

As to what % of the overall player base (Mac & PC) we, that are affected (the inflicted!!) represent, who knows. However new reports (new duplicate threads & additional posts in extant discussions) and thread visitor view counters (some of which are undoubtedly players looking for confirmation of an issue, but not having anything to add) continue to rise.

Interesting, this does NOT happen on my old PC:

    AMD Phenom II X4 965
    Nvidia GTX660 2GB
    Crucial 8GB DDR2 800 RAM
    120GB SSD on SATA2
    Settings Medium, sliders to 150%

However, this IS happening on my brand new PC:

    Intel i5 3350P
    Nvidia GTX660 2GB
    Gskill 16GB DDR3 1866 RAM
    120GB SSD on SATA3
    Settings Max, Sliders 200+%

Plus this only happens in the spire zones, such as the mine wall, the gas clouds behind it are just large solid color plains, and the Voths' immune shields are just solid color blobs. Icons over NPC heads (i, checkmark) are just white blocks. Voth Ground beams are just super large white "beams". Exiting STO or sometimes just waiting 5-10 mins the textures seem to load in.

Quick test I did today, same toon restarted after each test, no hardware software changes.

Just chat check fleet did not move from ESD in which I started, over an hour not problems.

Restart in ESD, beam to academy, fleet alert, first texture curuption, sellers on ESD have white squares instead of icons, another fleet alert return to ESD, missing ui, and item icon in inventory, glaring white textures on most clothing items. Unplayable elapse time 25 minutes. ( before you say lair cool down on fleet alerts left at siege wave).

Any fix on the horizon devs? Any idea what's wrong? Any acknowledgement on the know issues on the patch notes?, just a bit of feed back apart from tacos will bring it up with the graphics team.....

Not much to report. It's hard to fix something you can't reproduce. So they're working on getting this to happen to anyone in the building.

Looking though he reports of people's systems posted here there is no common problem, then I thought, we have had router issues before, the launchers not working etc. what about location, I'm in the UK. Anyone else having the issues what your location?

Are people with the problem playing on Steam, Retail, or ARC? And is everyone getting that "Material Files Reloaded" message?

    Athlon Phenom II x4 955

Has the texture problem after season 8
Sometimes crashes on high detail in Social areas DS9, ESD, K7 before season 8

I have an old MacBook Pro but have not yet attempted to Load STO Beta on it.

Texture Problem occurs after several map transitions or after system has been left on afk for awhile. System times out and logout screen has lost textures. Social area crash occurs shortly after transporting to DS9, ESD, K7 etc or shortly after transporting out. 64 bit OSs do not seem to be having this problem.

I should probably upgrade my OSs to 64 bit anyway but re-installing and re-configuring hundreds of applications and transferring so many terabytes of data represents a massive inconvenience just for STO....especially if the problem has not even been confirmed on Cryptic's side. It would be a bummer to do all that work and still have a texture problem coming out the other side.

    I'm just saying
