Loading Cryptic Screen, Music starting, Monitor Brightness settings appear,
(had copied new character over a couple weeks ago).
Dare I adjust the slider? (This is where it crashed in last weeks episode).
Yes, adjusting slider, confidence building...OK button lighting as I hover over it!
The moment we've all been waiting for, Folks.
Waiting for the appropriate part of the soundtrack,...Clicks OK.
Character Selection Screen Pops-Up! All of it, instantly!
(None of that, "I don't like your cpu so I'm gonna struggle stuff"), INSTANTLY!
Clicks on other 2 characters, they change pretty quick, but not instantly.
Still, better than ever. Clicks back to main character.
Going to options first, bringing graphics slider down from 2/3 level to 1/3.
Going to advanced settings, raise a couple,
lower all others to what used to play best for me.
Clicks apply, clicks audio tab,slides music off. Apply, OK.
Nothing to do now, but hit Play. Wonders if the server is back up.
Taking a deep breath..... the crowd holds they're breath...
Presses PLAY!...."Material files reloaded" still showing... But...
Battle Group Omega! WAH-HOO! Crowd goes Wild!
But wait, somethings wrong. Mouse drags to look around.
Everything's breaking apart captain!
It's like the Universe is becoming shattered and torn!
Calm down Persistent Officer! Report!
Sir, as we drag the mouse the ship looks like a spiro-graph.
Checking other systems, drop-down windows ok,
The post office didn't hold the mail while we were away!
Sir, the Universe tearing seems to have stopped.
I can spin around fast, and the universe stays intact.
What did you do? Nothing!
Going to try to move the ship and enter Sirius Sector.
Sir, the Transwarp Gate is shattered again!
Blow Through!
Sirius is all white, and again shattered when dragging the mouse. SOL must have went nova!
Clicking on the mini-map functions, seems to clear up shattered universe / rips.
Transwarping back to Battle Group Omega. Flash of white.
OK, we new we might see this, let's abort and sleep on it.
The engineers will finish testing and loading the rest of the patch, and we'll try again.
No glorious battles tonight... but soon, very soon.

but the good thing is in 3 more weeks we can start counting in months...

So I couldn't resist,...had to go back in.
Only this time I cranked my graphics back up to the default 2/3 level,
and only toned down just a few in the advanced settings.
All the universe shattering and whiteouts described in my previous post were gone.
I battled some Borg, went to SOL Space, and all seemed ok.
Normally with my settings this high, going to SOL
(Especially when theres a crowd), the map never finishes loading.
(Hence the reason for turning down my graphics originally).
There wasn't anyone there on tribble SOL this time, so the map change was good.
We'll see...

All well and good for tribble-folk... But im eager to get back to my fleet! Explore the new content and decide for myself if its good or bad instead of reading threads from entitled whiners who are upset because you cant beat this new content by shooting something and not using your head to kill it! Agreed; a fix on Tribble is a good sign, but it doesn't help me until it hits Holodeck.
I don't know, considering all the holodeck malfunctions on TNG, DS9 and Voyager, I'm starting to wonder if maybe they shouldn't have picked a different name for the 'Live' shard...

they only did a partial one on Tribble so far tonight. The rest of the fix will be in tomorrow on Tribble possibly after they test it on their interna servers.
