To be twisting hairs... ...some cats do have bigger ears. take the leopard of scandinavia. The Lynx. awesome animal. They'd surely build their helmets to accomodate their good hairing, uh, hearing.
    Maybe something like this? :P

It doesn't even need to be animated I just want more long hair for everyone.

Frankly I think some of the decisions made regarding customization choices has been way too arbitrary. No facial hair for Romulan males in spite of the fact that every single male facial model has a 5 O'clock shadow, limited hair options for Caitians, complete wardrobe failure for Klingons, It's like some designers over at Cryptic are on some hoity toity artiste kick, "I designed these to look this way, this is my vision and to hell with what the players want".
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

It certainly seems like that way sometimes. :( Though, keep in mind a lot of the facial textures haven't really been updated since launch.

yeah, that's really annoying...i hope they get rid of that whenever they get around to touching up character models...but let them touch up the hair so every style doesn't look like it was dunked in a 55 gallon drum of hairgel first

I don't think we'll ever be rid of the hairgel, like I said before, animating hair is a pain and all you have to do is look at what capes are doing, the way they flap around in a non-existent wind and clip all over the place to see that maybe the current hair styles are as good as they are likely to get.
All I really want is the option to let me decide where I want to use them and if I think they don't work for the character, let that be my choice. I agree with limitations where it would be completely wrong, like a blond wig on a Gorn, but right now what's going on seems like a small group forcing their notion of esthetics on everyone else in a lot of areas where it shouldn't really matter. The more likely explanation though has probably been that it was easier to say it can't be done or it will cause problems than to actually go in and fix it. That said, since they are working on the tailor now, now is the best time to be asking.

animation has nothing to do with it...the specularity map for the texture needs major toning down; that'll remove some of the slickness

Too Bad i dont think we will. Ever. Since the work needed to do those meshes and the interaction with everything else its probably too much work for cryptic, and it will cost money.. i hope im wrong..:(

I don't think there would be any work involved with simply turning on the existing hair options for these character types, the only downside I could see for it would be monochromatic color choices for most of the hair styles, would a creature with a mottled body hair coloring look right with a single colored hairstyle?

Yes, it is the jumpsuit. I made it into a white Tiger pattern for my Ferasan, Zira. The uniform is perfect for cats and I honestly don't think it looks right on any other species.

Think again, the galaxy models are still pooched, the guys who do stats are are different bunch from the ones who do art work, and that too is broken down into groups, some work on environments, some work on characters and some work on ships and getting the attention of the ones we want is like yelling from a mountain top.
