Finished or not, I have a feeling they are going to hold it reserve until the server population slows down, as they are wasting DEV time with this summer TRIBBLE next week. It may be 2-3 more months till we see the Scimitar.

So for me, I am on a personal CSTORE/KEY STRIKE until it is released, I encourage everyone else to do the same. IMO it should have been released with Romulus, so many people wasted good money on that total piece of TRIBBLE D'Deridex.

They said they are going to be releasing the info in June, now if they keep that promise they wont be holding the ship for 2-3 more months.

One would hope, but keep in mind information and discussion about the Andorian Escort started something like 2 YEARS before it even saw the light of day.

So while I am hopeful they will say something, I also know there is precedent.

That is old as sin. This is certainly NOT any new ship. It's a variant of the old Scimitar that has been in the game since launch

It's already been confirmed in game that the ship in azure is one of the three ships in the scimtiar back. regardless of whether or not it's in game.

The ship in azure and the names of the ships that were confirmed on tribble are one of the same names. Falchion (sp)

Confirmed by who if I may ask? If some players confirmed it, don't believe them. Until a Dev confirms it, nothing is to be believed!

The texture of the pictured Scimitar (or Falchion if it's true) is sub-par and most likely either a quick placeholder or just a low quality NPC model (as with most NPC models). I'd expect the player ships to look quite different or at the very least have a much better quality texture.

I am thinking it has to be a place holder. Look at the texture displayed in the developer tweet posted earlier and you can see a world of difference.

Confirmed by an actual in-game image in tribble showing the romulan drone pet and the Falchion name in it's description.

Considering that is the same name used in the azure, makes sense that it would be the same ship. Also the ships in azure were changed to "romulan republic ships" so that adds more truth to it since this would be a romulan republic scimitar variant.

As far as the model itself. it is unlike any scimitar i've seen in the game, including texture detail. i wouldn't say it's the same as a player ship, but damn close. Probably just not final.

And the image is in the very first post of this topic. http://i.imgur.com/roRV9R0.jpg

The model is unlike anything I've seen as well (or at least anything I remember seeing, it's been a long 2 years). However, I hope that if it is the base of a Player model they clean it up a bit... It looks kinda trashy. :(

You have to be logical when it comes to shuttles on a starship. For one: You are severely limited due to your space frame of the starship. Two: Shuttles takes up space, and you need space to move those shuttles around.

Lets take the NCC-1701 TOS Enterprise. Franz Joseph said the Constitution class Heavy Cruiser has only four Galileo-class Shuttles, but is some of the movies it shows the Enterprise only having two shuttles, but published deck plans show that the NCC_1701-A has having 8 to 12 shuttles on board. The TOS Animation show said that the Enterprise carried four Galileos and a Aqua shuttle. Some write-ups of the Excelsior says that it carriers a shuttle compliment of 100+ shuttles and 12 of those is fighters.

So it would be difficult for a starship the size of the Armitage, Atrox, Vo'Chov, or any of the other carriers to operate a fighter wing of 98 shuttles, but as I mentioned the Excelsior's 100+ shuttles.

I saw a write-up about a Fighter for Star Trek. A 20th century fighter could not be the size of a Star Trek fighter, it would have to be considerable larger. Impulse drive, warp drive, warp reactor, shield generators, life support, weapon space (energy weapons) and torpedo storage for a continuing firing of a photon torpedo. All this adds up to a rather large space frame. The only way to restrict this size limitation would be to limit the duration that the shuttle could maintain warp speed and combat operations. I keep referring to a board game that I play called Star Fleet Battles. In this game the Federation operates the Zuchov-class Heavy Carrier. This starship only operates 12 fighters and 12 torpedo shuttles. The fighters has only one or two phasers and can carry a few drones (missile-type weapons) the torpedo shuttles can carry only one or two torpedoes and a few drones and one phaser. These shuttles is limited to only a maximum warp speed of 3.2 and cannot go from one star system to the next without the carrier mothership to convey them.
Perfect World limiting a carrier to one or two hanger slots (4 to 12 fighters, depending on which ones you use) is a very logical choice to make.

I do feel that the Scimitar is a carrier, but also the Romulans does not follow the standard Science, Tactical and Engineer paths that the Federation and Klingons follow. So the Devs has to follow a separate concept with this 3-pack item. I see this as a money maker for them and the fact that the Romulan flagship is needed. I wished that you was given the choice of creating a Romulan fleet and getting their own Starbase, Embassys (on Earth and Qo'noS) and Mine. I see that a Romulan saying that he or she would willing go and serve for one of these factions is against theit sense of Nationalism.

First, its a topdown view as all hangars icons are topdown views.

Second, the Romulan drone-ship was a reuse of the chaotic space hulk from VOY: "The Fight" so if you think it "looks kinda trashy" is because it always been "kinda trashy".

Umm, I wasn't talking about the drone ship...

I was talking about the "Falchion" pics that have been circulating around, go back a page or two and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Can't wait, got my 5000 zen saved, just waiting for the release...

btw, I saw the hangars on tribble when it was added/leaked/released, since then, it has been removed. Not sure what to think about that. Anyways, there will be a dev blog next week and hopefully it will have some info.

They may have removed somethings , but it's hard to hide things from me.
Now I give you more screenshots, this time of the advanced ones. Sadly I'm not in a fleet on tribble but I'm sure the elite ones are hidden somewhere as well in there.

I really want to like the new Scimitar ships but I have to say after seeing the Falchion I'm really disappointed in the quality of the model. :(
There just seems to be an overall lack of depth to the model and the texture is atrocious , overall it looks like a flat brick with wings attached.
I really hope they take another look at the models and improve on them to make them worthy of being classed as Romulan dreadnaughts.
Right now if I bought one I'd probably be buying it for the stats and the movie reference but not for the looks and that makes me one sad Romulan.:(:(

Dude I don't know what you are smoking. The Falchion that you have to save in the Azure Nebula PvE is the boom. Better detailing than the Scimitar that it replaced. You need to go slip STNG: Nemesis in to your DVD or Blueray player and look at that ship. Its a flying brick with wings. The game designers is doing the best with the graphics in this game. If your graphics isn't showing all of the detail on that skin, you need to up your graphics card. My Windows Index is at 6.2 for graphics. What is yours at 2.0? If you think you can do better, how about getting off your First person Shooter rearend and going to Prefect World HQ and doing a better job! If your not going to do that...then shut the H up!

So wait, people are already flying these on Tribble? That kinda sucks because it means they aren't close to releasing it...

Nice they are living up to their promise of info in June. If they just considered testing it on tribble it's not going to be coming out for a while yet. Damn you Craptic.

I agree, I think that if they made it a closed beta test on a ship... They will not get enough testing in our lifetimes to garner any useful data as to what needs to be tweaked. And as I recall the Oddy, Vesta, Bortas were all testable by everybody. If you see somebody in a Scimi, it is a Dev trolling us...

Also as other threads have said... looks like Scimi is scheduled for a new release date (http://youtu.be/GY6SAuu6JGY) - The new ETA... The soon to be Broken Promise "Dstahl: We’ll be making an announcement about the Scimitar class later in June, so I don’t want to spoil anything just yet."

Sorry but just because it gets in on June 30th saying the announcement is that the Scimi is being tested... or god forbid a screen shot for next Friday ( This one is highly likely ), isn't really cutting it. The way thats worded.... one month ago... just seemed to get our hopes up. Like Galaxy-X Saucer Seperation... and Klingon Ships... and PvP revamp... and Santa :(

Sorry but Cryptic is doing this whole summer thing, that everybody has already said they don't care too much for. :( You win some, you loose some...

Well I got lucky and saw one as I was testing something on a build I was thinking about.

First Biogentic cascade is in, not its unexpected and its not going to be taken out and why is that? because the wings are animated (its pretty neat) when deploying so I dont think they will just drop something they put a lot of work.

Second, the Scimitar have a ability called "Scimitar Cloak" and it does what it does, cloaks the ship but since I could not see what it did outside looking at the icon description I have no idea of what it actually does and the player can cloak and cloak at will I cannot even say if there is a duration or not.

Closed Beta testing is an epic fail. Was probly a Dev testing the ship. As far as anything else goes, if it is closed Beta... then probly no PvPers got to test it. So it will be a mash space bar to win ship.

We will get to fly it some time when September ends :(

Nope not a dev, regular testers that have contributed to tribble have been given the ship to test. I've yet to see the Falcion or Scimitar but did come across the Tulwar design a player was flying.

Oh I agree SOOOOO much. Dstahl should've kept his mouth shut if the ship was nowhere near done. Why TRIBBLE with everyone who's been waiting for a Scimitar since launch? The Scimitar is literally the only thing keeping me playing, and it will be the spark that I think will get me playing more. Having a nice looking and fun ship is 90% of the game for me, currently I'm trolling in the Ha'apax Warbird, a ship that isn't bad but just not to fun...

Yeah I'm whining, but nobody would be having this problem had Dstahl just said: "We are working on the Scimitar and we'll provide info in the future" instead of "we're going to be releasing info about the Scimitar later in June".

The Developer accounts do not say they are Developers. Now I have yet to see a player with one. And I highly doubt they are testing them in secret. If a regular player got his hands on one, he would be sharing his experience by now.

So next month when they put the Scimitar on Tribble we will get to find out what its like. Then 3-5 years later when they put the Scimitar on Holodeck, I can finaly fly one...

So when they honor the May Ask Cryptic statement of announcing "Later in June" in the form of putting a Picture of the Scimitar as the Friday Screenshot tagged with some very lame reference or quote to Star Trek Nemesis... It in my opinion is not truly doing right by the community. We wanted more ships we can use, not some lame Risan Garbage Ship... I really do think that Risan ship looks like its ment for carrying the left over trash from Risa to the planet Khan's people crashed on for proper disposal...

So my question is, would you rather them have pushed out the Summer Event with this Risan Corvette (Covenant Drop Ship from Halo), or pushed through the Scimitar on time?

I think we will all answer Scimitar...

I have solved it!!! I got some help from Glen Beck on this, but if you take the May Ask Cryptic and look closer your find a hidden meaning.

We will be announcing something on the Scimitar Class later in June.

Lets look at this closely, "Class" as in a school room. But who is teaching? Class can also be held "Later", but why? June... the 6th month in the year... and very similar to Jail... people who go to Jail are in trouble...

It all makes sense now... Somebody is making the Developers stay Late after Class and thus creating trouble! But who?

Scimitar.... (Sci) mitar... Sci's D: Quickly ban all Science Captains :D

Now to answer it honestly. I saw players flying around in T'liss warbirds before anybody got the email invite to get playing Closed Beta for LoR. This is because the Developers were more than likely testing the nodes on the Tribble server. Since they have thier own server for testing... dunno why they need ours. But anyway, just because it doesn't say <Dev> doesn't mean a Developer did not create that account to test the features on a more live scale.

If players were getting to fly the Scimitar, they would by now have spilled the beans on what she is like. Sorry but the Romulan Scimitar is too iconic, and will be testing by a larger group than what the Developers could hand pick. They learned this lesson from the Andorian Fiasco I hope.

The only frustrating part is that the Developers spend coding time making this infernal Summer Event that is on Risa. Which means I can not by nature go there. Not as if I am missing much, the Risan ship that it comes with is basically a Clone of the Covenant Dropship from Halo. The thing is terrible to look at in terms of appearing to belong in the Star Trek Universe. Which is even worse since some artist put a lot of time into making it. Time that could have cranked out the Scimitar faster. And Coding in the new ship's stats, it's testing, and the Texture Enhancements to Risa all took time away from what could have probly given us a Scimitar this month rather than August. They listened to us when we said that we would like Romulans, but now they seem to have lost direction. So rather than ask what to do next, which we clearly stated we wanted a Scimitar. They decided to go and make some event... Which does not appeal to me in the way I play this game.

I can only hope that time will fix this mess. I am one happy Romulan, just upset that we get told one thing, and get another...

This is a whole lot of "I'm more important than anyone else" mixed with a bit of ignorance to resource allocation. The #1 false assumption is that there isn't already a team working on a Scimitar; it seems there very well may be. I hope you realize that throwing more coders and artists into making one ship doesn't get you a ship faster.
