I think I've seen a futurama episode where one of the 'scary door' gags had that happen.
It was the Twilight Zone, I'm sure.
The Scary Door gag was a condensed version of several Twilight Zone and Outer Limits episodes including the Hitler wish, the casino where you always win and the gremlin on the plane.

yeah, I think I remember something about a plane in it
The existence of this alliance has never been explicitly stated
The whole article is based on supposition.

The Making of Star Trek (finished during the early part of the third season of TOS) does say, however, that the intention at the time was to have the Klingons and Romulans form an alliance against the Federation. The only real indication in any series that an alliance was ever in effect is in "Reunion", where Riker says in response to a suggestion that the Klingons and Romulans were working together: "A new Klingon alliance with the Romulans?" By saying "new" it implies that there had been an "old" one at some point.

Yeah that is no proof of an alliance.
Also from TNG '"Was that before the Klingons joined the Federation"' - Wesley to Picard.

That's actually a retcon; in very early TNG you'd sometimes see Klingons with a dual Klingon Empire and UFP insignia in the background, indicating something more than an alliance.
This was because Gene was adamant that the Klingons would never, ever, ever be the antagonists again and therefore they would join the Federation.
As he lost power over the show this was completely done away with, of course.

I remember that episode. It was with those three rogue Klingons loose onboard the Enterprise, and the Klingon Commander that Picard was talking to had the Klingon Empire's emblem hung next to the Federation Emblem behind him.

Yeah it was a strange episode for multiple reasons. It had a TALARIAN freighter in it! In some ways it reminds me of the zaniness of TOS.
Is anyone else a bit miffed that you cannot play the romulans as actual romulans? From the reveal it seems to point to the whole reunification and becoming all nice and friendly.
I wanted to see the scheming backstabbing evil side. The rebuilding of the empire and going against the lesser races of the federation and klingons.
Seriously the romulan race is xenophobic to the core. The level of propaganda that was distributed over countless years does not rub off overnight. Couple that with the Hobus event still being pretty raw. I honestly think that the romulans we are currently helping would be a small splinter group, nothing more.
The main romulan faction would be the military/tal shiar controlled one.
Come cryptic, let us be the bad guys that the romulans were meant to be.
LOL. Have they lost their spark already?
They haven't EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET!!!!!
And they have "ALREADY" lost their spark.
Maybe the developers should stop now with creating Romulan content and move on to something more interesting and more sparkly?
Or maybe we can wait until May 20 and play the content before we get jaded and it doesn't look so sparkly.

While the whole "Romulan Republic" thing has me worried, as does the Screen with the Ship designation being RRW and not IRW, I do not think that this is D'Tan's group.
For one, while I don't know about in-game, everywhere else D'Tan's group calls themselves the "New Romulan Empire". I don't see them changing the name just do a faction.
That said, Since the Tal Shiar is corrupt and possibly plotting with the enemies of the empire, I can see us not being aligned with them either.
My ideal situation, Sela returns. She realized the Tal Shiar in part or whole are not following her rules and working for their own purposes. She can not trust them. So she uses the chaos left from her abduction (and yes, in my ideal situation, she was abducted) to rally a splinter group loyal to her as a "underground rogue" group to eliminate the current Tal Shiar and other Political enemies, in secret. This is the "Romulan Republic". That would be awesome.
That said, I am going to go with the saner group and wait until we get more official information before I condemn the Romulan Republic as "Not real Romulans"

Whatever happens, I for one will create a Romulan. I will play this Romulan through the stories. I shall enjoy it. I will reserve all judgement until then.
Mind you, I've got a Klingon I haven't done the story missions with yet. I may get a start on him before the Romulans come a calling.

Agreed. It's only March and the Romulans are already a faction with no spark. By May? They'll be worse off than the KDF. It's time to pack it in. Might as well just go to the C-Store and buy a Vesta 3-pack or a Catian carrier and continue with the federation. It's the only thing Cryptic seems to care about, amirite?

Until Cryptic tells me otherwise, I am going with Escape.
Unless the Tutorial mission has us rescue Sela from the Iconians and as a result are appointed as one of her loyal hitm.... I mean "Soldiers". That would also be interesting.

Sela will return indoctrinated by the Iconians. We will fight her in various missions until she ultimately reveals her goal is to fuse all life with the Iconians.
We then lecture her on how wrong she is and make her kill herself.
Then, we fight the Iconians. We will be given 3 choices.
- We can destroy the Iconians, but this will also kill the Gorn for no reason.
- We can control the Iconians, and thus become the thing we were fighting against.
- We can fuse all life with the Iconians, which is now suddenly the best option despite how wrong we told Sela it was earlier.
Also no matter what choice you pick, all warp drives in the galaxy explode.

Beam down to a Federation science station and murder its entire crew so I can loot all of the scientific information and gear.
Beam down to a Klingon planet and wipe the existence of a Klingon community completely off the surface of the planet.
Oh, and if by chance I get to destroy a few gazillion Federation and Klingon ships, that would be just icing on the cake.

I get the feeling that none of these will be possible.

To be honest though, um - those are along the lines of things you do as a Fed or KDF already.
It's not exploration Star Trek...it's bang, bang, shoot 'em up Star Trek.
Outside of some patrols/etc, we're usually just beaming down to kill somebody.

It is reasonable, however, to conclude that whatever happens, it's going to suck.
So you're not a Romulan if you are of that species? That makes no sense.

Count me in. Complaining about things no one knows right now is dumb. Let?s wait for actual reasons to do so....
1- Nerf cannons, buff beams
2- Nerf Escorts, buff Cruisers
3- T5 Connie.
I just posted a new and original idea:
Lets nerf anyone who posts a nerf X thread allowing them use of only MK I common gear.
Should fix the problem.
