Except for the Tholian Sword, everything in the Lobi store from the Tholian Lockbox wasn't bound at all, it was all freely tradable on the exchange or between characters, so what the hell are you talking about?

Some of the items had a box added but didn't come in tradeable boxes when the Lobi store first appeared.

    As it stands:

The ground weapons and Rules of Acquisition books don't come in tradeable boxes, nor do the space weapons/consoles.

    Everything else does.

To add to that... the same issue goes for most loot in the game. It should be account bound or only bound when equiped/opened. That should go for STF loot and the like as well in my own opinion. But whatever.

ALOT of it has been changed to account bound, sadly it's wasn't retroactive so my UBER expensive (crafted) AP gear is sitting on an unused ship on my other toon because I upgraded to the Borg STF versions, while the same gear (that is NOW account bound) is needed on my other toon but I need to recraft it to make it account bound.

SAD that I have to run white gear while I contemplate weather to recraft the gear or bear the loooooonnng process of doing STF's for drops to buy the borg versions of said gear.

The more I play, the more fail I see.

Rather than Lock Boxes which are loved or hated, but definitely cause problems on the forums and social media sights for Cryptic or Star Trek Online fans; why don?t we innovate and do something that makes a lot more sense? Something that is fair and something that nicely fits into our Star Trek theme!

What am I talking about? well here we go!!! Why not generate loot that still requires the purchase of *master keys* but is also not such that we gamble with it to such extremes. So what am I edging at?

Why not replace all lock boxes with the following.

Cargo Container: A random common and/or un-common loot drop that could contain amounts of dilithium equivalent to 100 Zen or combinations of Lobi crystals and Dilithium that are worth 100 Zen. Cargo containers could also come with equipment in combination with Dilithium or Lobi Crystal. The equipment inside could be tied to the enemy type that was destroyed as to get special weapons like phased tetryon weapons and etc. To open a cargo container you would need a Master Key. The Grand prize could be Consumable pets and things like that in excess of the normal prize.

Escape Pod: A random rare loot drop that could contain a very rare bridge officer of the alien type being destroyed. Just like the Tholian Lock Box came with Tholian duty officers. The Escape Pod could also contain random rare or very rare duty officers inside. The very rare bridge officers could come with special traits that are found on player characters, such as Space warfare specialist, evasive, efficient or entirely new traits. These options could be extremely diverse. To open the escape pod you would need a master key. The grand prize could be a bridge officer with some unique bridge officer abilities not regularly in the game or even a playable species.

Prototype Schematic: A random rare to very rare loot drop that contains a schematic to build some prototype weapon or gear. To access the schematic you would need a master key to unlock the command code access. The Grand prize of this loot could be a universal or special console.

Derelict Vessel: A random very rare loot drop that that would contain a playable ship from the enemy type that you destroyed. No different than the Ferangi Lock box only containing Ferangi Ships. To access the derelict vessel however would work a bit differently from the other loot drop types because it is hardly fair that they only cost 100 Zen to obtain. To access a derelict vessel you would need to purchase salvage operation rights from the Cryptic Store. This would just be a consumable item that looks like a data pad. It would cost 1000 Zen. The ship that you get would still be random. The grand prize would be the best ship; all other ships from an event would fall into various rarities in the system.

Why do I feel that this system is much better? Well, in this system the prizes are narrowed down so that you reasonably know what you will get. This narrowing down of the prizes simply makes sense and in my own opinion will be better received in a Western Market. So make it so please.

So has the Lobi Store taken over from Zen? Lots of new content going into the Lobi store with the latest box drop. More time seems to be going into the temporal box compared to previous ones... and no Zen Store items in a couple of weeks.

If this makes them money and keeps the game alive then I can understand but I just don't get it if lobi is the new game currency after they got rid of merits etc. Lobi at first was just a special event but now it is permanent and a currency in the game.

If I buy a uniform from the Zen store its account wide. Now with Lobi the uniforms are character bound. I can understand why the ships and other items are, but they are now adding in things that are account wide in the Zen store. Money wise, how will the uniforms in the Lobi Store compare to Zen Store?

So between seasons is the most time going to be spent concentrating on new drop box content now? Patch notes are getting smaller and reported bugs... the one's introduced with each latest patch... aren't being addressed very quickly. Just look at the patch notes for tomorrow... most of the download is for the box content. Nothing about the fleet doff departments for example. Last week fix one being wrong and mess up more?

You discovered their secret. They can continually milk us for money with the lobi store and lock box scheme. Not so much with cstore.

Yes it has. Its the perfect scam.

How is it a "scam" if you know that the items are character only? This is just a more aggressive business model - a scam denotes that people don't know they are being taken - but people who buy into this stuff know full well what they are buying into.

So this is where everyone's posts get moved to when there is anything said about lock boxes etc.

Want to move this comment back or to the appropriate topic that is clumped with everyone else's so it looks like 100's of people aren't saying the same thing??? Why did I have to change user names with the PWE changeover? Oh, and you decide to use some other social application (Raptor) rather than the Perfect World Core thing.... LMAO worth having a PWE user account isn't it.

You won't be getting my 'feedback' again. Only through my wallet.

Our FAQ for the new Temporal Lock Box is now available! Check it out here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/announcement.php?a=71 -- boxes start dropping in-game tomorrow.
As with the past Lock Boxes, we'll be keeping one thread where you can leave your comments, feedback, and ideas. This allows the dev team to watch one thread about the subject where we can read and consider your feedback.

Quoting myself for those who missed it on page 4 ----^

Yes I remember - that is one of the biggest "scams" of all - can't complete the course unless you buy their book!!!!!!

    No education for YOU!!

I remember - you pay for the course in every college or University - then get to the class and find out you have to go and get the professors book for the class - the one he wrote

Ah but I will go to the Used book store and won't have to pay the $120 PER book - damn he just did his bi-yearly revised edition - with some spelling updates so I will have to buy it brand new!!

I might feel upset... If college professors didn't make less than high school teachers and have four times the debt.

All the middle aged University professors where I went to school were doing quite well. Are you talking good Universities or state level colleges?

If u bothered to read the note underneath the video, it states that the uniform will be a lobi crystal item at a later date
*Me*Why don't you just step away from the weapons console. You and I both know that you couldn't hit that cube, even if it was right in front of us.
*Junior Tactical Officer* But sir the cube IS right in front of us.
*Me* EXACTLY! Its right in front of us and you still missed it! Just step away from the console.

That's debt allowing them to live well. A solid $25k a year tuition private school starts them at maybe $25-30k. Profs I know at public schools start low enough to get food stamps. It's different for business profs or coaches, mind you.

When some griefers like Star Fleet Dental get a hold of one of these ships and just sit above ESD rolling time back all day so no one can do anything I'm sure they might get a clue about what they did wrong.

These should also make Fleet battles oh so much more enjoyable, like the Tholian web has by blocking our shots at the enemy.

That said I may have to use the Exchange on this one.

    ?

The 13-second rewind only affects the ship using it, no one else.

    EDIT:
The dense beryllium cylinder core of this module rotates at near light speed, allowing your ship to perform a Temporal Backstep and rewind time approximately 13 seconds. Your ship's position reverses, and some of your ship's hull and shield damage is restored. Additionally, the cooldown and recharge times on all your abilities are reset.

If someone (or a group of people) started spamming this, all you would see is them going backwards, not the entire instance.

There is the "Freeze in Place" effect that you get when the other console is used with it.

No one wants to buy keys for these lockboxes, the chances of even getting the special ships from them is slim and people would rather spend their hard earned cash on ships that they dont have to gamble for. Honestly, Cryptic/PWE, you would make more money if you just put ships like the Wells Class and others on the C/Z-Store and be done with it. I can assure you that people are not going to be wanting to spend who knows how long, sitting at their computer clicking away at lockboxes when the chance to fail is high. Just stop it....
