    1) To keep them (very rare) as they where ment to be.

    2) Because the ship prices will fall too low and everybody will be flying in none fed ships!

    3) Because you will lose money, people buy keys to convert to energy, if the price of ships hits rock bottom on the exchange, YOU WILL LOSE MONEY.

    4) Because too many Recluse carriers in the game will stunt the sale of the Atrox from the zen store.

    5) Because who every give you this idea clearly works for eve, they have people trolling you with bad ideas,, have you ever played STO???? we need to keep ships very rare, and we also need you to add (BOSS INSTANCES) With good loot drops, take a tip from wow ffs.

    6) If people think they can wait two months for new ships to get lower in price why would they bother getting lobi when 20mill energy will do???????? they should always get higher in price, to do this they must leave the Lobi store!!

    7) Because I already see too many people flying the Recluse, never see the Atrox in elites.

    8) Because the sale of small craft from the zen store will be an epic fail,, we can already get widow fighters off the exchange and ferengi shuttles for 10million energy, in some case's LESS.

    9) This stunt is a ****s trick on the people that play the exchange game, and have 5+ recluses saved.

    10) I Leave this open for the few none trolls that use the forum, and have love for this game, to add their SAY on this important matter!

      :

May not have been the intent of the post, but this came across to me as, "I can't make lots and lots of money selling ships on the exchange because the prices keep dropping."

    Hi Cryptic,

Please could you make Lobi Crystals account wide unlocks.

I know that this has been raised before, but I humbly request that you reconsider this :)

Or please can you make the Lobi store items not bind on pickup with the D'Kora consoles. Please.

I would like to buy these consoles with my surplus for a friend :(

I am dissapointed by this lock box peronally...in my opinion its in the "bad" category...

BUT for some weird reason im attracted to the new small craft coming soon...they look very sleek and nice and it has an good deflector for a fighter.

wanted to know your opinions....good,bad, or ugly?(with explanation)

I think a term I dare not post.

In the end I guess PWEtic wants me to play SW:TOR instead of STO. Seeing that they don't take Star Trek seriously, let alone the fans/playerbase.

    Hard to pin down.

In terms of the kinds of contents it has, I'd say rather good. Mini DOff packs will help DOffers and/or infuse the Exchange with more raw whites, there's a plethora of ships available, all the garbage has been more or less weeded out and slipping into the Lobi Store where you can't get stuff you don't want all that easily.

In terms of ships... bad. Very bad. Timeships in STO would be fine if they were only NPCs and only in time travel missions.

That said, I could forgive the shuttles on the conditions that
    • They are a reward for a story missions
    • The story establishes the hulls were gutted and their contents somehow destroyed, but that with some time they could fit it with current technology, for lulz.

In terms of theme... this is gonna get ugly before it's done.

    I'd say Ugly.

You can see very easily that people are extremely split over these lockboxes and their contents. We have the usual humbuggers, but for the first time, we have people literally screaming "I CAN'T WAIT!!!"

So these are already successful whether we like it or not.

Reading about everything which is going into the new Temporal Lock Box, one has to wonder what will become of the C-Store?

Considder the contents of this new box:

    Wells Class Time Ship
    Mobius Time Ship
    Korath Temporal Science Vessel
    Krenn Temporal Destroyer
    Aeon Timeship
    Rozhenko Timeship
    Mirror DSSV
    Mirror RSV
    Mirror Qin Raptor

    Wells Class Bridge
    Korath Bridge

    Crewman Daniels Time Suit Uniform

All this stuff, and not a single piece in the C-Store. Instead, it's all going into a Lockbox.

6 New ships, 3 Reskins, 2 bridges and a costume - and in the past 1-2 months, we've had what? 1 ship added to the C-Store?

We've requested bridges, uniforms, custom interiors, Series Bundles, and ships. More ships than you know what to do with. Obviously, if we are requesting this stuff, we're willing to pay the money to buy it.

But instead, all this focus goes into a lockbox, with odds that would have Vegas drooling. For what? Is the profit THAT much higher on lockboxes? Is everything in the future going into a lockbox?

When can we expect that things will be added to the C-Store that we can straight up buy, instead of gambling for? Or are you guys done with the C-Store?

If you aren't, then how about spending some time and fulfilling some of the longstanding requests for fluff items people have been asking for instead of more scratch-it tickets?

The contents of the lockboxes are STILL ships that don't make sense coming out of present day factions (deliberately), weapons that are non-standard, costumes that are non-standard, etc.

Cryptic is still releasing ships in the C-Store (about 1 every 45 days) and ground costumes.

The "awesome/weird/doesn't fit" stuff will be in lockboxes and Cryptic is making an effort to make sure those have more and better and weirder stuff.

The C-Store is continuing to be stocked with the same stuff it always has been.

And for the record, lockboxes are extremely profitable, the cornerstone of what keeps the game going, and so, yeah, they're worth setting aside time on the calendar to do right. Doesn't mean that everything else is abandoned. These are ships that drain down stipends/promo points (needed) and generate $200 a ship for Cryptic, which justifies some time spent doing them right.

I virtually guarantee you'll see a regular C-Store ship announced within 2-3 weeks and another fleet ship in 4-6 and another C-Store ship in 6-8.

They said awhile back: series bundles will be in 2013, starting with Voyager/Intrepid and then likely TNG/Galaxy later in 2013.

Bridges are likely on hold in part because they're looking at tech for how to use them. Adding too many could destroy some cool tech options. I can't say too much here aside from that I have a hunch about a feature that would require putting a permanent hardcap on number of bridges and customization options for actual bridges... but it would be cool and game defining.

Costume work is chugging along. They got a new costume artist. He's done four in the last couple of months, two of which were C-Store, one was free, and one was lockbox. Plus two that we've seen in-game for Fleets (and I suspect much more given that we've seen variants of fleet costumes in the S6 trailer). Plus a LOT of work going into the rep system. Plus new Mk XIII STF costumes.

So now that the stats are out, is it just me or is the Mobius Destroyer absolutely insane? It has a boff layout with up to 4 tactical officers (let's not get into if that would even make sense), it has 4 tactical consoles and 4 science (ie shield boost) consoles, and all of that with all the features of a Sci ship, shield modifier, subsystem targeting, sensor analysis and an almost escort equivalent turnrate (15 instead of 16). Oh and it can equip DHCs.

Dude what are you talking about it been balanced for????

In my book if you have better gear you should be able to own a ship with lesser gear simple,,

as i've worked on getting my gear and they could try that as well LOL

even the best ship can be taken out with a team of two maybe you should find a friend to pvp with??

in every mmorpg i've played its never balanced!!! you have people with better gear than others as they have worked to get that gear, thats how pvp works, to show off your skills end of story.

Two uniforms (Racing and TNG Season 1 Flag Officer), and 1 Ship.

Nice to see you back to your good old misinformation ... this lockbox have 2 ships, 2 shuttles and one uniform as the rest are reskins and so dont count.

    I don't see any misinformation.

The Wells is a Science ship with a distinct BOff layout, stats and special console.

The Mobius is an Escort, with distinct BOff layout, stats and special console.

    (That's 2 Ships.)

The Korath is a Science ship, same as the Wells, but with a different hull configuration & faction.

The Krenn is an Escort, same as the Mobius, but with a different hull configuration & faction.

(Now, we're up to 4 ships.)

The Aeon Shuttle is a distinct Federation ship.

The Rozhenko is a distinct Klingon ship.

(Hey, look at that...count is now 6)

And of course, you have the 2 bridges, 1 for each faction.

And a Uniform, which both factions get to use.

Plus you have the 3 reskinned existing ships.

Pretty much EXACTLY as I said before. How is this misinformation?

Just because the Mobius and the Krenn share the same stats, doesn't make them the same ship.

Just because the Wells and the Korath share the same stats, doesn't make them the same ship either.

And the Aeon and Rozhenko ships are unique to themselves, on hull shape alone, not to mention faction.

So, it's obvious that the Devs did work on 6 ships. Not 2 as you stated in YOUR misinformation.

The Destroyer IS an Escort. The Sensor Analysis is a typo. The shield mod is also only 1.05

There are typos in the blog according to Borticus. Looks like the Destroyers were eroniously showing some of the sci vessel (Wells/Korath) stats in the blog instead of proper escort stats.

It will still probably be the second toughest escort in the game.

Better to look at it as a lockbox lovechild of the Fleet Aquarius Destroyer and the Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier. Minus the Hangar, with better shields than either but most stats between the two.

It's basically a slightly more Science-y consoled/stated Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier (-2200 hull, +.06 shield mod, - 5 weapons power, +5 aux) with BO stations that are a mix of the FHEC and the FAD's versatility.

Basically, though, it's a versatile cousin of the Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier and a slightly inferior cousin (accounting for typos) due to the loss of the Hangar... But it has the perk of using timeship consoles.

Ah now that makes much more sense, maybe they should update the news article then (if they didn't already, didn't look at it again since it went online yesterday).

Thanks for clearing that up. Still a pretty nice ship all around. But I guess I'll get another ship for my new Sci toon after all then.

(I wish there was more discussion about the actual contents of the box in this thread instead of name calling and rehashing the same old hate tirades against PWE that make up 95% of it)

They have updated the article now. Just checked.

Also, the Wells has a turnrate of 15, not 16. You might want to look at the Wells or (my advice) hold out for the Vesta if you want a tactically proficient science ship.

I had actually already bought a Recluse before the new ships were announced. I haven't unpacked it yet though. I'm not necessarily looking for a tactically oriented ship, the Mobius just looked so uber that it cought my eye. My main is a tactical captain so I actually wanted something completely different for this toon. The plan was to go for a full energy drain build with the recluse, energy siphon drones, high yield thermionics, polaron weaponry etc. Just for a change of theme and gameplay, didn't have to be the most optimal build ever.

I'll look more into the Wells anyway, I only glanced at it so far. The console sounds interesting, though mostly for PvP, I mostly do PvE and except for probe duty I can't think of too many situations where that slowing effect would be very useful.

I agree, Lock Box ships and cross faction or even special consoles should be disabled in PvP.

I've been saying it since launch but as an observer of MMOs...

PvP needs its own separate ships.

This could be done through balanced monster play although I imagine that would be frustrating to organize your action bar.

I think the better approach is what I've seen done in other games:

Introduce one or more PvP stats that are monstrously effective against other players (but not NPCs).

Balance the PvP ships so their core stats are a bit lower than PvE ships but they have enough "player killer" stat points to rip anyone in a PvE ship to shreds.

    Award PvP ships for PvPing.

Standard T5 PvP "starter" ships for a choice of participation (win or lose) or dilithium.

Fleet Tier ships for special PvP goals that require winning, with bonuses for fleet participation in PvP. (Losses don't have to count against you but wins need to count for your progress here.)
