When they ever release it, it will be compairable to the Klingon Vo'Quv Dread Carrier, in that it will be a Sci ship class with the same BO slots as the Vo'Quv.
I fly a Vo'Quv now and let me tell you, that BO layout is FANTASTIC! I would have no objections to the devs just copying and pasting their files on the Vo'Quv's BO stations to the Jupiter.
That being said, one of the drawbacks I've seen (and complained about) is the fact that the Vo'Quv's 4000 crew all die almost instantly in a fight. It kinda sucks because my hull repair rate (which when full is around 180% a minute) drops to 6% a minute. It also takes FOREVER to get that crew back.
So I say that the Jupiter could also have some type of innate crew damage reduction / improved inertial dampeners due to the two shield arrays (or what not) in order to keep their crew alive and keep the hull/subsystem repair up.
so wat do u think of my cruiser build based off the quv Quiiliitiila?i am also a quv pilot and i also have a kar'fi.but i thought an engineering version of the quv layout was best.just tweaked some things to fed standards like crew size
when i first went to borg space(nearly 2 yrs ago) and saw the dreadnought i thought it was ugly(but to me looks dont matter as much as performance)i used to care more about dps but now im more of a tanking style guy and i agree with a previous poster saying that the ship should have 2 shield hardpoints.that could be the jupiters special ability and if a player were to do something like stack the borg shield with the maco shield would make for a great tanking build.

(Ship background description)
Due to the ever changing events in the alpha quadrant,Starfleet needed a viable heavy support vessel that would suffice in roles of exploration or defensive combat. They decided that retooling the Jupiter Class was the best candidate for this and gave it the most advanced power distribution system available at the time allowing the mounting of 2 Shield Arrays. The drawbacks found during field testing was the abysmal maneuvering rate but some engineers expected that outcome with its sheer mass being the largest vessel Starfleet has built to date.
Hmm, I'd have to look into all of the devious things I could do with that BO layout. Right away I can see I'd be a hull tank (but also a moderate shield tank).
*sigh*
Wish this ship'll be in the game soon... If at all...

Man I hope we aren't toiling away in obscurity with our support for a True Dreadnought because it feels like we are. The best thing some dev could do is reply to this thread and give us something, I mean anything to go on.

I've been toiling away for the Jupiter since I started playing the game... Unfortunately now it seems bleak because of all the stuff that's just been released; the Odyssey, Bortas and now serious talks about a Caitian flight deck cruiser!
With all of the new hype, it's easy to loose sight of things that are already there.
But as always, I'll keep trucking. Hoping one day we'll see the Jupiter as a playable ship, either in the c-store or in some other capacity.
It just seems odd to me that there's any hesitation at all... Making the Jupiter playable = little work and = MONEY. Heck, I'd pay 2,000 crypitc points for one!

I agree, Let's just hope they realize that we the community are willing and able to drop serious MONEY for a DREADNOUGHT. Also if I haven't stated it somewhere before I'll support you 100% on everything Dreadnought!
Just ruminating on an old idea (apparently one the devs intend to put into the game).
The Jupiter SHOULD have side mounted weapons, in fact any dreadnought should. These weapons make up for the lack of turn rate and make it so it's dangerous to attack the vessle from any angle... Hence "dreadnought"
Has anyone heard anything more about the side weapons? I just read a post mentioning that the supposed Caitian carrier may have them.
I agree, this ship needs to be put into the game ASAP.... It should have already been in the game from the the start....
Last time I am going to say this the Gal X was and never has been a Dreadnought..... The Phaser lance is a bit of a joke anyway.
You obviously don't fly or know how to fly a Gal-X... aren't the lances powerful enough for you? There are players who routinely get 40K per shot of damage with the proper skills and buffs.

yea all it takes for me when i used to was CRF2 with DHCs(takes shield down), TB,then watch em asploude(after proper capt skills of course)

Personally I really like the Galaxy-X and I use it all the time in STF's and such but it is not a True Dreadnought, it plays a lot more like a First-Strike or Heavy-Assault Cruiser. What we need is a True "designed from Ground up not a Retrofitted Cruiser" Dreadnought. Hopefully when we get the level cap increase later this year a Dreadnought will be one of the new T6 ships.

I'd Love t See an Excalibur Class In the Game Like This: http://images.wikia.com/memory-gamma/images/f/fe/ExcaliburMarkII2.JPG , But I'm pretty sure it can't happen do to it being in another game. But something similar in size and style, would be Perfect for a T6 Dreadnought variant.

Yeah, there was another ship referenced earlier in this forum that looked just like that only with 4 nacelles.
*Dig Dig*
Hmmm THIS is what I'm referring to. I wouldn't mind seeing it as the "new Jupiter" if the Jupiter must be changed.
Both ships are nice looking, and as I said if the Jupiter MUST be changed I'd like one of these to take it's place.
This is sort of not serious. But as the Jupiter seemed to be a stopgap dreadnought until enough Galaxy-X starships were brought online (IE they were often replaced by Gal-X), they were sent back to HQ for an overhaul.

You'll get no argument from me :^D. The additional shield array would have to be at 50% effectiveness or something, possibly less CAP or more bleed through.

It's a Nice idea But i'm not really a "Carrier" fan, so for me I'd prefer A Nice Almost OP Battleship or a Ton of guns held together with bulkheads.
In regards to your build, I think the 10 power to ALL systems may be a bit much and the three Lt. Commander stations are also a bit over the top. Because of the Universal commander, we'd have to balance that out with lower other BO slots, perhaps one LT. Commander and two LTs?
I am all for more ships and options.
BUT the devs should focus on adding some GOOD LOOKING ships/costumes first.
Agreed that the Jupiter does not excatly satisfy my aethestic tastes. Personally, from the way the Jupiter looks, it would be more appropriate for a troop transport and/or cargo ship than a starship-of-the-line.
, some good looking costumes for the Assault Cruiser,
Are you saying you don't like the look of the Sovereign-class warship?!
I'm not opposed to a Dreadnaught for the Federation side, but am I alone in my feeling that the Juliter class is really, really ugly? Maybe they could modify the design a bit to make it a bit more representative of typical Starfleet design.
Lol, just my opinion, but I think it looks kind of uninspired - a bathtub with nacelles. I think it could be made to look cooler and certainly hope that it'd get a graphical update if made a player ship.

You're not alone, that thing is ugly beyond belief and generally looks like someone just slapped nacelles on a reskinned asteroid or something. It certainly does not look like a Starfleet ship.

No, you're not alone. Unfortunately many players hate the Jupiter. I for one love it.
I agree the design to use some work, smooth up the ruffles, beef up the nacelles and move them a bit closer. Sure the design looks a bit unconventional, but we're years past the last Star Trek we've ever seen. Perhaps the Jupiter was a prototype design that never got used for anything else?

True, Hopefully "when" we get a Dreadnought the Jupiter will still at least Be A Costume Variant.
Seriously, the Odyssey is massive but at least it looks elegant. Just slapping nacelles on a lump of metal is not design.
