Could you explain your idea for the double anti-proton lance? Also, I don't quite see the Jupiter with a cloak, but that's just me.
Too bad we don't know how T6 are going to be to base comparison...
-Quiiliitiila
It was a joke, first off...
But, for explanation's sake, it is meant to operate the same way as the Galaxy-X's Phaser Lance, but Antiproton (better burst power), and Dual would be 2 of them firing simultaneously...
So 4x bursts... if of equal strength to the Phaser Lance, for a Tactical captain, that would mean overall about 120k-150k in one shot worth of damage - before crit.
When they give us the Jupiter not if, at least if the current p2w keeps up. If it's got stats like that it'll be a small fee of 3500 c-points I bet, which i will spend because I'm a sucker for the Jupiter

Ah, I guess I didn't fully read the stats to see it as a joke... Oh well :^D
Turn rate of 17 would've been amusing to see though!

Not worth a farthing if there isn't a good team to support it.
BLASPHEMY!
My incredible sexiness would carry it through. Dual Lance, cloak, AND 17 base turn rate with 75k health, 6x Commander level Universal BOFFs, I would PWN! Hell... I'd take on entire teams and zomgroflwtfbbqpwnt them without trying.

You forgot to mention the fuzzy dice hanging on the view screen!!!!!
Talk about this ship is fine and all, and i think its really neat how its shaping up into a moving wall, but. . . how do you balance it with the rest of the game? What could be used to take it down if need be on the fed side?
Secondly, It seems good if your looking at it from a PvE perspective, but it just seems either too over powered in its defense, yet under powered in its offense. yes, it can take a serious beating, but if it cant dish out enough damage to make it a threat, whats the point? any fighters/escorts that it 'may' be given would just be an annoyance instead of a threat. now, if you gave it some form of weapon, like the spinal lance for the galaxy x, that would make it more of a threat, it seems more permissible.

What build of the Jupiter are you referring to? The most recent one mentioned a few posts ago was a joke, if you go further back there are quite a few serious builds and discussions on them.
Well I logged on today to play around with my Duty Officers and had an INTENSE pang of want for the Jupiter. I've just grown so bored with my Excelsior lately and it makes playing not as fun (still fun, but just not as much as it used to be...).
Personally I hope that they don't make the Jupiter one of their new .5 ships, I believe it deserves to be a true T4 or T5 ship.
*Sigh* I wish it were out now...
Moping until it they release the Jupiter,
Quiiliitiila
Fingers crossed it comes out shortly after F2P!

EDIT: Added top pic.
Ok, I'm sorry, but I have to chime in on this.
The Jupiter Dreadnought has GOT to be the ugliest, silliest, and most unimaginative Federation star ship design that I have EVER seen. It looks like something that a 12 year-old would draw.
I can understand wanting a dreadnought for the Fed side, but this? This is easily the worst of the Cryptic-created ships that have appeared in this game. I like most of the original designs that they've put forth, but the Jupiter shows no such polish.
I think a Federation dreadnought could be done really well, but I would hope that they would be of a caliber on par with the rest of their designs. What I don't get is how anyone can be so enamored with such an eyesore. It looks like a flying bath tub with four, tiny warp nacelles thrown on as an afterthought. It looks awful from ANY and EVERY angle.
I swear that I'm not trying to troll anyone, but I honestly don't see the appeal of this ship. Is it simply a matter of being drawn to the power that such a ship would possess? What is it? Could someone please explain it to me?
Great, now I feel like a jerk. But I just don't see what all the commotion is about.

Well I for one like it's design and size. It just has a shape (I guess you would call that shape a bathtub) that appeals to me. It is a refreshing break from the sometimes monotonous saucer-body design that Starfleet typically uses.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm a diehard Trekkie (notice I did not say Trekker) and I love the series to death, I don't see anything wrong with a ship design like the Jupiter. It could be a prototype, a new design because of the manyfold threats the Federation faces. With the ever growing war and turmoil, Starfleet could use a ship that is tougher and larger than anything it's put out before. The Jupiter is just what I'd imagine that ship to be.
As for the graphical changes that need to be done, I agree whole heartedly with you. There are a plethora of things that need to be changed before the Jupiter becomes playable, and I believe it will be renovated before it's player launch.
Lower hull section MUST be wider in comparison to the saucer section above it.

The nacelles and suporting pylons need to be bulkier and slightly closer to the ship, also the nacelles should be slightly more apart

It needs a polish, make it look like a playable ship and finish up the graphical issues it has.
The Jupiter has been floating around since the beginning of the game, I hope we'll see it come out soon.
-Quiiliitiila
P.S.
You didn't offend me, I've heard MUCH worse from people about this. Even to the point of off-site slurs and such. Good times!

My argument is that, Federation (war)ships shouldn't look like the Love Boat...
Ok, so now that we know the Jupiter should be coming out relatively soon (well we hope), what type of special ability do you think it could possibly have?
For those of you late to the Jupiter forums, in the past we have come up with a few abilities that may seem familiar:
1. Point Defense System [Akira Refit]
2. Space Barrier (shield wall) [Gorn Science Ship]
3. Emergency Thrusters [Saber Refit]
4. Single Hanger Bay [Orion Vessels]
So, what are some new ideas we could come up with?

A console that can change the ships appearance to make it NOT look like a Jupiter...
Thanks. I am not a big fan of the console deals. The differentiating abilities should be innate and every ship diverse.
I agree, plus it takes up space for other useful consoles... Plus like you said, what's in a ship if you can just take it's best ability away and put it into another ship...
---
As for a new Jupiter ability, I suggest:
- A second power core of some type that gives a boost to power? (I don't want to say a second warp core, but maybe).
- Resistance to stuns and tractor beams/repulses. (Because of it's size)
They are already doing that on the Odyssey class. When not "if" they release the Jupiter Class I hope that they put side weapon slots in it to help counter the Predictably bad turn-rate.

I've not heard of the Odyssey class... Could you explain the ship and the side weapons it is supposed to have?
The Jupiter rocks! I Hope it is released soon, It looks like a love boat just as much as my Oracle deep space science vessel looks like a cruise ship, so I'm game! No reason they should not put it in the game, heck they seem to be releasing a Jem Hadar (<-SP?) ship so it should not be THAT far behind!

Nice layout!
Have you considered having one hanger-bay and bumping up the weapon slots to 4 and 4? Sorta like a battle carrier...
Don't get me wrong, I'd kill for the Jupiter to be an all out carrier, but I doubt Cyptic would do it.
