I love it. If you make this real. It will be my favourite ship

IMO Jupiter needs a redesign, not much of one but needs one none the less.

I would buy one of these Dreadnaught in a heartbeat if STO were to make one. The Jupiter Class Dreadnaught is the one ship I have wanted to play forever. STO would make so much money from this ship I think they are making a mistake not putting this out there for us to play.

If it gets the stats from the OP I'm all for it. It's interesting what people would suggest for endgame ship stats in 2011 - 3 Turnrate, 3/3 weapons, no cannons - If that's the playable Jupiter go for it :)

Of course I wouldn't touch that hideous abomination with a 10 kilometer long pole but now that we have "assimilated" erm... whatever those things are called flying around and every second player has a "Scimitar" I don't mind seeing those ugly bricks in-game.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Jupiter and Typhoon in-game. Just streamline the Jupiter a bit, and clean up/add detail to both designs, and you have a couple of nice rides for the game.

As for people complaining about the looks of the Jupiter, pretty is as pretty does. The Jupiter is a vessel that is supposed to convey the message "**** with us at your own peril". It's supposed to look like it means business. And it's ugliness only adds to the menacing aura and leaves no mistake of it's intended purpose. Like the also rather ugly classes of escorts, the Jupiter is designed to kill people and break things. It's not meant to be the "friendly face" of the Federation, like the Odyssey.

I also find it's design to be a nice change from the usual cookie-cutter saucer and nacelles designs we typically see. And I say this being a "cruiser man" when it come to this game.

Im sorry but its not "ugly menacing" its "ugly Ugly" If I saw this somehow irl I would go " woah thats an ugly ship lets put it out of its misery : ) " I guess you could use its ugliness as weapon : P I say this good naturdely though.

Maybe somehow smoothen the hull/saucer section together better. the nacelles though man they are ugly and i would hope they redesign them

I guess the hull saucer thing is the main thing to you Jupiter fans so as much as I dislike it I could maybe learn to like it if it was tweeked some. but the nacelle section....yikes

Those 4 warp nacelles that are way to small are just dreadful. The overall "saucer-less" design is somehow in-line with Cryptic's idea of how Starfleet vessels should look like (Star cruisers, escorts...).

The whole thing is stupid. It's concept is stupid, it's design is stupid but this is Cryptic "Trek" and they want it to be Star Wars or BSG with personnel that looks nothing like star Trek and ships that do look nothing like Star Trek so let them have it.

But of course now every FED wants that thing to be superior to the Scimitar. 10 weapons and 4 hangars and someone suggested it should "launch" light cruisers - that's just ridiculous on so many levels ;)

My ideas for Jupiter and Typhoon Classes (Pls to comment and discuss):

    Federation Dreadnought - Jupiter Class

    Weapon Slots 4-4

    Base Hull Strength: 50000

    Shield Modifier: 1.15

    Base Turn Rate: 4/4.5

    2 Tactical Console Slots
    5 Engineering Slots
    3 Science slots

(Idea: instead of one of the slots above, 1 Universal Console Slot -> may equip a console of any type, including universal consoles)

    BOFFS:

    TAC: 1 LT
    ENG: 1 CMDR, 1 ENS
    SCI: 1 LT
    UNI: 1 LT C

Console Universal: Strategical Weapon Positioning (Beam weapon firing arc +33% [Dual Beams 120?, Single Beams 360?])

    OR

    Weapon:
Phaser Beam Array Mk XII [Acc]x3, [Arc]
-> firing arc increased to 360

Federation Battle Carrier - Typhoon Class

    Weapon Slots: 4-3

    Base Hull Strength: 39000

    Shield Modifier: 1.15

    Base Turn Rate: 7/7.5

    4 Tactical Console Slots
    4 Engineering Colsole Slots
    2 Science Console Slots

    (Again idea for Universal Slot)

    2 Hangar Bays

Unique Pet: Saber Class Escort (just here as an idea, could be replaced with any FED frigate ship you could imagine)

    BOFFS:

    TAC: LT C
    ENG: CMDR
    SCI: LT
    UNI: LT C, ENS

Console Universal: Tactical Maneuver Alpha (Applies Beam Array: Fire at Will to all Beam weapons, Cannon: Scatter Volley to all cannons/turrets, Torpedo: Spread to all Torpedoes, Dispersal Pattern Beta to all Mines, Cooldown 2 min)

    OR

Console Universal: Multi-Target Tractor Beam (Tractor Beams that targets up to 6 enemies, 2-3 min CD)

It would be nice if Perfect World would stop wasting time and get these things made already.
For over two years we have been talking about this and still nothing has been done. Are they going to make these or not?

Both the Typhoon and Jupiter classes look awesome and i would like to see them as Fleet Admiral ship.

And how long did it take them to make Romulans Playable?

    From December 2012 Ask Cryptic

"The Typhoon Class is a dreadnaught that will most likely not appear as a playable ship until we increase the skill point cap to full Admiral. Even then, we haven?t yet decided if this will be a player ship, but we can be convinced to make it so if there is enough support for it."

This can be applied to the Jupiter as well. So no Jupiter and Typhoon until we get level 60 content. So it could be another 2 years before we see this.

Of course, even at that level, it might not occur. I actually doubt it will happen, but these threads just don't die despite majority opinion.

I'd prefer a redesign... but there seems to be more and more deviation from standard Federation design over time.

As far as i am concerned, no Typhoon period. It must be one of the ugliest designs i ever saw.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

The question is: why? All Klingons and Romulans (as well as the Jem'Hadar Dread) may command their most impressive vessels so why not fed?

not true, the odyssey class is a dreadnought class and the fed flagship, it is supposed to be the most impressive ship the feds have ever created.
if the typhoon ever becomes playable, they would have to make it weaker than the odyssey for it to fit in with the ship classes
    Maintaining peace through overwhelming firepower.

Oh actually that's my bad :P I misread the post i answered on, i thought starkaos was talking about the Jupiter class - that i see as the Flagship of the Federation... The Odyssey class is small in comparison

But still i would like to see the Typhoon, the difference between oddy and Typhoon is not the size - it's just the general function of the ship - The Odyssey class is built for combat as well as exploration while the Typhoon is designated as Battleship (yeah, even by the UFP) :)

indeed! i hope they make it!
to make it different to the odyssey they would prob lower the hull, shield, and increase weapons power.

Considering that the Jupiter is a Dreadnought class npc ship (4 bars) and the Typhoon is a dreadnought according to the devs, but has only 3 bars, then if we ever get them, they will be Tier 6 ships and seriously redone. These ships will have a similar makeover to what the Scimitar had to go through to make it a playable ship from an npc ship. So it is entirely possible that the things that players love about the Typhoon and Jupiter in terms of looks will be removed for the sake of playability.

they would have to make Jupiter a lobi store ship equal to or greater than the JHDC to make money off of it (common guys you know the Jupiter is going to be a carrier ) which means it would be part of the Temporal lock box Mirror universe ship/ with a EMP -2000 shields and -50 power to aux engine shields and weapons for you complete shut down of all enemy systems for 3 seconds and -100 to engines shields weapons with in 10 km for and you KLINKS dont get your panties in a bunch we went how many seasons without a carrier??????

(in addition this is completely optional.....but another carrier pet type for this wouldnt hurt you could even have it as a lock box prize with a command console that boost its draining capabilities Tyken rift)

the typhoon class will be a sci versed Lock box Grand prize crusier it would have a console on it that causes a MASSIVE gravity well that does greater than or equal to GW III in addition to having AOE gravitational storm damage to shields (say -800 per 2 sec for 10 with a 3m cooldown) in addition to -50 to aux systems to you

combination of consoles will negate debuffs to you for using the abilities in addition to having "Ship of the Line" passive ability (+100 to threat generation +30 to BOFF abilities)

lastly a new weapon type since your into new weapon types with new lock box...phased antiproton..... or negative antiproton weapons (black/dark blue beams/cannons) with 20%crit proc and when crit happens+ DOT plasma/fire damage COME ON I KNOW YOU WANT IT

actually now that i think of it....if not fed make these ICONIAN SHIPS!!!!!! WITH ICONIAN CONTENT

I'd be happy if they made the Typhoon the alternate skin for the tac Oddy, they are about the same size with the Oddy only been longer due to the nacelles.

The problem with that is that it goes completely against everything a lockbox stands for. Lockbox/Lobi ships are to give the players ships that they have no right to pilot. If it makes sense for a ship to belong to a specific faction, then it is a C-Store ship or very rarely for free, but if it doesn't make sense for a ship to belong to a specific faction, then it is a lockbox ship. Cryptic has been very good at keeping this ideal so far.

make them mirror ships and lockbox because they'll make more money off of it and we all know thats the only way these OP ships will be in the game. its a simple solution so that not all the fed players will be roming with Jupiter and typhoon class ships all day long. or just make them fleet specific T5 ships.

Very interesting thought. Typhoon skin for the Oddy.

But... what about the Aquarius? Or maybe an alternate skin so that thing still exists...

Has anyone heard of the USS Montana (NCC-86431)?

That was apparently a Jupiter-Class starship created. And correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like a larger Sovereign class starship with a bulkier engineering hull and a second set of dual nacelles. And it does not look anything like Crypitcs at all.
